I am new to all these so forgive me if I don't know something obvious. I have a grand prime sm-g530h that I tried to root using the cf-autoroot chainfire files. But it did not work and I ended up stuck in odin mode forever! I was trying to upgrade from kitkat to lollipop. Anyway I could not even go back to kitkat version using the 4.4.4 file from chainfire. Here is the link to this problem if anyone is can help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/grand-prime/help/stuck-downloading-mode-trying-to-root-t3400043
Anyway, I then downloaded the firmware from sammobile: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/46171/G530HXXU2AOC2_G530HODD2AOA1_BNG/ and this time it worked and I was able to get back to my phone! all the apps that were previously installed were present as if nothing changed.
I did notice one difference between the file sizes. Chainfire MD5 files were around 30 MB while sammmobile files were around 1 GB!! and a lot of processes happened when I installed the sammoble firmware using odin which did not happen when I tried to use the chainfire files.
Here is a screenshot of odin after installing sammobile firmware:

My concern is why is there a such a huge difference in size of the MD5 files? Should I be concerned? Did this also install any hidden malware that I should be worried about? I see something called "hidden.img.ext4" and other stuff! Is sammobile.com safe? Please help!

I am running 4.4.2 on SPHL-720 (Samsung galaxy S4 (sprint) and just received a notice that a system update has been downloaded. I have not installed it yet. Could this be the 4.4.3 update?
I think it's NG2 modem update
I'm running sacs older version 4.4.2 version 2 I think with the nae modem. Has anyone tried the update? Will this break root? What's the benefits? I've searched and found nothing.

Look like I lost root. I need to re root my phone. If anyone has idea let me know
I found the downloaded zip on my phone and it is the NGA update. However it will not install on my rooted NAE phone. The recovery mode install fails.
A) You cannot accept an OTA while rooted. It will not install unless your device is bone stock.
B) Please learn to use the search function. This update has been out for over 2 weeks and there are 4 threads on it that will answer any questions you may have about it.
I'm current on the 4.4.2 Stock ROM that came with the phone, using the OPS CSC as that is my carrier.
The ROM is rooted, I have changed the recovery and kernel and am using XPosed for any customizations.
I wish to download the 5.0 ROM, specificially Albe95's rom: Link here
I wish to know if it possible to change the CSC from that ROM to that of the one that is for my carrier. I have extracted all the files from Albe95's rom and have not found a OPS CSC in there.
How would I go about either moving the CSC from my current ROM to Lollipop one?
One of the options I have found where to extract the rom that you download from Sammobile and flash the appropriate files, yet I do not know what files to flash.
The other option is to simply move the files from my current ROM into the one I downloaded and flashed it (picture below). However, as with the above option I do not know how I would do that since the ROM I currently have is only single CSC while the one that Albe95 provides is multi-csc.
Thanks for the help.

Bringing this back to the front. Still have no idea how to do this and cannot get this to work.
I haven't used my S4 in a while since i got my S6 Edge i was wondering is there a root for the S4 5.0 I've been looking everywhere and no luck yet
I'm seconding this question.
In addition I'm on 4.3 and my system can't even manually pick up on the update. What's up with that?
Third that...
I just got my S4 L720 replacement, came pre-loaded with 5.01 and I can't find a way to root it, cant do anything with it really...
Haaaaallp!
Just use Odin to flash TWRP, then in TWRP flash Chainfire's SuperSU.
It's the same as KitKat, what mattzeller said or Odin CF-AUTO-ROOT by Chainfire

Ok I'm not an expert at all and I don't want to follow the wrong guide and mess everything up. I googled some of the terms and I don't feel confident enough in what I found.
How exactly do I get to KitKat (be it the stock rom or the one really close to it) and root it?

You can't Odin an older firmware. Odin the same firmware or a newer firmware than you were on.

i have been trying to odin jelly bean roms. i have tried to odin 4.4.2 but wont up date either. when i recieved fone it was running dark stalker and everything is custom. my current binary is custom and also is system status
After a few failed attempts and some net digging, i decided to downgrade my firmware to an early android 9 that i grabbed from samlabs.
i figured from this "workaround" that i can finally get magisk working with my device

but due to my limited knowledge, i don't exactly know what he mean't here, like... how do i flash something with a odin tarball???
and how do i even extract the files mentioned?
can anyone lay it to me straight?
Github Thread
PS: my bootloader is already unlocked, i tried the simple method that makes sense to me and just flashed a patched AP of the aforementioned Firmware but unfortunately hit
the usual dead end (Secure check fail, recovery.img).
Note that the bootloader with Android 10 and later on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) [SM-T290] is suffering from this same issue.

It is about a different device, but may work.
Just replace the aboot.mbn.lz2 and vaultkeeper.mbn.lz2 in a tarball (.tar file) with aboot.mbn.lz2 and vaultkeeper.mbn.lz2 from last Android 9 tarball (.tar file)
I don't remember which one contains these files, so find one with them
