My Xiaomi Redmi 2 is not booting. It got switch off on its own this morning, after it I tried to switch it on but it was only vibrating, and had instantly become very very hot near camera. So I removed the battery, after few hours I thought to enter recovery or fastboot, but it was not even vibrating. In short my problem is I can't power on the phone, enter recovery or fastboot. When I connect it to a PC via USB cable, it does not connect and as soon as I put its battery inside it, within seconds area near the camera becomes very very hot. What should I do?? Please help....Model name - 2014818
try charging..maybe your battery drained...
and you can try after that to hold press on power and vol down for long time so that you could enter fastboot...if it is not working ...
give this ****ty device to service centre..
I had the same problem. I went to service center and they told me that the phone's motherboard has to be replaced as it got damaged due to overheating.

Just to get the necessary info out of the way, here's what's relevant. My ROM was (LP) unofficial CM12 (5.0.2): http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...cyanogenmod-12-unofficial-build-mako-t2936332
The other day, I flashed LTE Radio from Nexus 4 LTE Enabler: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/4-4-3-nexus-4-lte-lte-tethering-hotspot-t2416822
After flashing this in CWM recovery (non-touch), I rebooted from its main menu, but it hung here. After 10+ mins, I manually reboot using physical buttons, but the phone screen never reemerged.
Here's my diagnosis:
I have the red light of death (calling it ROD)
I tried to charge it overnight (it actually "died" while on charge)
I removed and reconnected the battery contacts
I have managed at chance to have my computer detect the phone before it "dies"
I do not have fastboot or adb sideload access
I cannot access anything on my phone: no screen or vibration when booting up
Through specific button combinations, I can force the red light of death (ROD) (e.g. holding vol buttons for 1 min, then procedure in following line)
BUT this lasts only for as long as I HOLD the combinations (e.g. holding vol up+power, plug in USB, see ROD, continued holding reboots phone & loops over)
I need your help! Later today, I will carefully charge the battery terminals directly, hoping to see different symptoms. I know if I can get fastboot on my phone, and/or adb on my computer, then I'm good. IF NOT, what are my options? I don't have warranty anymore, so I'd have to ship my phone for JTAG repair?
UPDATE: I tried charging the battery itself for 30+ minutes, but I have the exact issues as before. I suppose JTAG repair is my only solution now.
2nd UPDATE: I've gone ahead with JTAG repair. Thread's closed.
Hi! I managed to hard brick my galaxy s7 edge and i wanna see if someone here knows if its hard bricked or soft.
Got root and had renovate rom 2.0 ( n7 port) then i wiped my phone and flashed renovate 3.3 (s7 edge stock)
my phone worked fine on startup and i started to restore my old apps through gmail. i thought it would take a while so put my phone in my pocked and let it be fore about 20 minutes then when i took it up it was complete dead. i had about 67% before it died i tried everything (vol up down home all together) for at least 15+ sec. had it charge over the night ( i noticed that the phone didnt get warm or any leds shown) in the morning i tried everything again and nothing. when i connect my phone to my computer i hear the connect sound and then it disconnect a sec later. if i hold power button down and connect it ( and dont release power) my computer recognize it as onyx8890 and if i release powerbutton it disconnects. cant boot it in any way whatsoever. so what do you think? its only a week old thats the worst part of it!
I have left it to the store I bought it from for warrantable but its still rooted and have a rom on it. well if its complete dead they cant see if its rooted so thats one good thing.
still want to hear you opinion
sorry for bad english
so, from what I understand, u cant boot into any mode, are u even able to see something on screen? (logo, boot screen, etc.) U can try JIG (it somehow make any samsung device go to download mode). otherwise idk.
Hi guys, I have the same problem with my S7 Edge.
Can anyone help?
OK. So I managed to recover my phone.
The phone was dead because of a software crash(nothing on display, no LED light, power+vol. down for reset not working) and when connected to my PC - nothing (just a connect and after 1 sec. a disconnect sound).
But if I kept the power button pressed without letting go, my PC would detect the phone as exynos8890.
I tried to keep pressing the power+vol. down while connected to PC and I realized that the combo worked because after ~7 seconds the phone would disconnect and reconnect itself (but still as exynos8890).
But I tried a different approach. While connected to the PC I tried to keep on pressing power+vol. down. And I could hear that it disconnected and reconnected. But I did not let go of the buttons. And again a connect and disconnect. And again. And after literally 5 minutes of the buttons kept pressed down without letting go and countless reconnects there was finally a change. The disconnect sound was not heard after the connect sound. At that point I stopeed pressing the buttons and when I looked at the phone I could see that the battery icon appeared. Since the phone was connected to my PC, after 1 min. the battery started charging (it was charged 31%). And after that my phone booted fine.
wow
Hi I have just bought an s7 which turned out to be a Korean G930L but I cant get any response out if it apart from the 2 bottom leds and and the blue one. No response from trying to get into recovery or download mode, basically a black screen though it does vibrate on what i think is start up. It is found by pc and Odin and charges ok, I can tell as I can see properties on pc. But no other response. Is it possible that the previous owner tried to root it using non korean rom or TWRP? Any advice on how to fix either getting TWRP on or screen to light up. I am sorry for being so vague I have pulled it apart and checked all of the connections, screen, motherboard etc but nothing. Or chuck it out or put back on eBay. I tried your idea but it only booted once in that 5 minute period so I tried without it plugged in and rebooted several times but still no screen response.
So last night I forgot to charge my phone and when I wake up it's died.
I tried to charge it, but the led is blinking and then it booting up to Mi Logo (not androidone logo, before that, where there is "Unlocked" bootloader word) and it just stuck there.
I can't turn it off, nor restart. I don't know is it software faulty or my power button is not working well.
I've tried pressing power button for minutes, + vol down, +vol up&down, nothing work.
Is there is another way to restart/go to fastboot from adb maybe? (because when I tried to connect my phone to PC, the PC detected it), or if you have any other suggestion, thanks before.
Open the phone and disconnect the battery for a minute and try again
Same happened with me still phone is dead
I think you have to open the phone and disconnect the battery
Hello,
a friend of mine dropped his phone into water. However, I dried the phone as good as possible without opening it. Now when I start the phone it gets stucked at the Samsung Galaxy A40 secured by knox display. I let it for hours but nothing happens. When I restart the phone by holding volume down + power and after that I press power + volume up I can enter the recovery mode. Before I make any mistake I wanted to ask if I can get acces to the internal storage of the phone to get back the pictures and videos. May it help to wipe the cache? Or can I install any apk to get the phone connected to the computer?
Kind regards
Stefan from Germany

Has your phone screen cracked, leaving you unable to access your data? All is not lost! We'll show you various solutions on how to recover your data!

This site shows the option to connect A40, if still Android 9.0, via usb hub to external screen and mouse and unlock. For Android >10 this doesn't work anymore
I have the same issue and neither usb-debugging on nor fastboot enabled. A40 doesn't show up in adb. So I also read when putting A40 via Power and Volume up into download/recovery mode, at least a backup of data should work.
My current idea is I have to replace display in repair shop or unlock via usb-hub + mouse.
Something I don't get right. How do you power off the A40 without screen to get safely the SIM card out? Power and volume down 7 sec, then release power off, then volume down? When I do this the A40 reboots with vibration. Power and volume up apparently reboots to recovery mode. Long pressing Power also doesn't turn off A40. Also in the A40 manual nothing is written on this
I'm having a similar, but worse problem: a friend of mine let her A40 fall into the toilet at a party. When she came back home, the phone wasn't working anymore and the battery was swoolen. We've tried to dry the phone with the good old bag of rice for a week, then I dissassembled it to take out the battery and see if there was any damage inside.
While there is no visible damage, the phone doesn't give any sign of life, not even with the usb cable plugged in.
So I have two questions: is the A40 supposed to boot without a battery plugged in, just using the USB cable as a power source? In the worst case, is there a way to recover the data from the phone if it's not possible to boot it (I bet the answer to the last question is no)?
Saw today that there was the MIUI 14 Update for the POCO.
Downloaded, unpacked and then it said restart, pressed restart.
It turned off and never on again.
Tried holding power button, charging, fast boot, holding here and there nothing. Blackscreen.
Opened the phone, unplugged both screen and battery, plugged in. Nothing. Tried it a few times and then upon charging it installed the updated, turned off blackscreen.
Tried everything from above again, nothing. Saw that upon plugging on my PC it showed QDLoader 9008 so probably EDL. If i unplugged and plugged in I heard a sound on my PC. If i held the power button i also heard the sound when you connect a device.
Opened the phone up again, removed the mainboard and tried to remove that small metal cover from the mainboard. Couldnt get it off even with enough heat applied. Heated the mainboard according to a different thread: Mainboard Part
Now when i charge the phone it shows me the battery display but if i press the power button the phone doesnt boot. Without charging it also doesnt show any sign of life. I didnt plug in all parts such as camera etc. yet
Does anyone know what to do now, cant afford a new phone.

If i plug it into a charger it shows 90%
PC shows it as a drive (E:/) Linux no more 9008
still no reaction after connecting everything

When the phone is connected to edl mode, the next procedure for recovery is simple, you have to look for the procedure, for example here.
I solved it by heating up the metal cover and the mainboard as shown on the "mainboard part image". If you reasamble the phone make sure that your mainboard is connected to the button connectors, that was my issue. For some reason it wasnt connected and therefore the buttons were not working.
Support was literally useless and the warranty in germany is a scam.
Trash phone. Never going to buy POCO again.
