I'm currently using a ZE550ML, and I have heard from someone that using unlock bootloader app provided by ASUS will record my serial/imei and my warranty will be voided. So I would like to ask if there are any way to root this phone without unlock its bootloader?
Thanks in advance

Hi guys, today I bought my nexus 7 and I just unlocked bootloader and rooted with Nexus 7 toolkit.
Now I've a padlock icon during boot (since I unlocked the bootloader). Is there a way to remove it?

The only way to remove it is to relock the bootloader. It's to show to you and everyone else that it is unlocked.

That padlock is a good thing. It's the symbol of your gateway to freedom.

Nope. Less you want to rewrite bootloader

There is software on the play store that can be uses to overwrite the boot image. I Dont know if it works in this device but I heard it works on the galaxy nexus and I had a custom boot image on my old epic touch and HTC eris.

the samurai boot image was the best. But its different with the nexus devices that image is stored in the boot loader not the kernel like the epic 4G. As of yet I don't think there is a way. Logo me doesn't work for the N7 like the gnex.

I think you can decompile the boot-loader. find the storage sectors where that image is at.. Replace the binary with that of a image you wish to use. Maybe even replace it with some empty data code. re-compile boot-loader and flash to your device..
This is why over my head . just information from following the threads in the a500 forum. Where the AWESOME Developers there worked together to build a new boot-loader for that device..
I might be wrong .. But it would be a first in a very long time . But i might be wrong about never being right as well OK IM CONFUSED NOW.
The simple answer is NO.. the app mentioned about says it only works with LISTED DEVICES . Nexus 7 tablet is NOT one of them..
Confused erica.
When I tried to root my n7 "nexus 7 toolkit 2.0" told me I can't root without unlocked bootloader. Now I unlocked and rooted, if I relock bootloader with the same tool does root remain?

Yes root will remain but its pretty pointless to relock becuase if you ever want to flash a rom or something similar you will have to unlock it and it will delete everything.

Like ÜBER said, re-locking the bootloader is pointless. Why don't you like the little padlock?

Hahahahah ok thanks to all! I'll remain unlocked and I'll flash the cwm recovery

I Flash this ics bootloader over android 4.1.1 bootloader successfully with Odin, works perfectly. No more red mark on the start-up window.
Here is the download link, if somebody need it.

I think I read somewhere that you can not install the mobile Odin. Recommend to use the pc version. Put the file in PDA section and flash, thats all!
does this work to downgrade from latest (LLA) bootloader?

I think it will work but, I haven't test.
By chance, I haven't flash this "f*****g" (LLA) bootloader
XXALEF (Launch bootloader) is the purest one in the sense you can use whatever custom rom, kernel or recovery and just use TA to reset the counter. And your one is just as clean as a new born baby.

Hi im about to buy a nexus 4 soon and i would like to know one thing..
I know that in order to root the nexus 4 you have to unlock the bootloader
the question is if its possible to unlock the bootloader and than root it and install a custom recovery and than relock it again and still have root and the custom recovery
Thanks!
No. You can't be locked and have a custom recovery.
You can however.
Unlock
Boot (not flash) custom recovery
Flash root binaries
Lock the bootloader again

sorry for being offtopic but may I ask what advantages you stand to gain by that.. ?
Yes you can do it.
But remember that each time you lock or unlock the bootloader you will loose all your data.
I'm not even sure that you can access the custom recovery after relock. Never tried

Will the bootloader be unlockable? Will we have a good expectation of having root?
I've searched (using tapatalk) and not found an A for this Q (Q&A hah)
It all depends on what people who get the device do with it. There is never expectations with any device.
I'm sure the root God @Chainfire will come to the rescue! That dude needs an award and more donations.

yes it is unlockable and yes that in turn means rootable
I think it could be rooted by the moto g3 method (Unlock bootloader, install recovery and flash SuperSu)

The only way to come back to life your mx4 is changing the mother board.
To go to oficial rom from custom rom is necessary flash before patched recovery of flyme. Once you are in oficial flyme rom you have a factory mx4, with locked bl and stock recovery.
