I bought a phone from ebay that was advertised as n9005
when I bought it the firmware seemed to show that it was n9005
I rooted it with towel root and flashed x-note 18.
now when I look at the phone info app I see the info in the attached
screenshots
it says that the bootloader is n900pvpucnc5 and that the hardware revision is n900p.12
Does this mean I have bought the Sprint hardware?
I want to upgrade to android 5 and 6 but I don't want to flash the wrong bootloader and modem for the phone
TIA for your help here.
I would want to look at the motherboard .Or check under the battery .

Thanks JJEgan
I checked under the battery and it says that I have an N9005 (see attached photo)
The IMEI matched up with the one when I dial a code so it looks pretty legit.
So now I'm thinking at some point in the phone's life an n900p bootloader/modem has been flashed to show up the info in my OP.
Now have to decide if it is safe to flash a n9005 bootloader/modem.
I'm still feeling cautious.

I just tried my imei in http://www.samsungwarrantycheck.com
and it came up with model SM-N900PZKESPR
so maybe that sticker behind the battery is a fake?
The sticker is probably fake even though the IMEI on the label matches the imei in the phone.

Hello all, I need some help in regards to my Samsung GS4 I9505. Sorry for the long post!
I bought this phone off eBay about a month ago and only did a quick test to make sure it was working. It is a used phone but in excellent condition to replace my old 9505.
Now 2 days ago I had some free time and wanted to check the phone more thoroughly before I transfer my data from my iPhone to the new to me 9505.
The phone had the stock ROM from Hong Kong (TGY). I9505ZHUFNL1 I think if I’m not mistaken.
I realized a few weird things in this phone.
1. First it had the AT&T ringtones installed, and 2 AT&T bloatware apps installed. I thought maybe the seller put them their thinking that I had AT&T.
2. Second, in the ABOUT PHONE, Model # shows as I9505 but the build number shows as I337UCUFNB1
Now I wanted to install a new stock ROM and root, process has failed in ODIN. (PS) I have flashed and customized my old 9505 a lot and have some idea on what I'm doing. I am still a newb though!
Currently I can get into Recovery and Download Mode but my S4 does not boot up. It gets stuck on the logo “SAMSUNG GALAXY S4” As you can see from the pictures below it shows PRODUCT NAME as I337 in DOWNLOAD MODE and shows kot49h.i337ucufnb1 in Recovery.
I am trying to flash stock ROM but ODIN has failed. Tried TGY, DBT and even AT&T ROMs and nothing is working. Tried to use KIES and nothing, went into recovery and deleted everything. Still the phone is not working.
I also got this AT&T message about “System software not authorized by AT&T” but that message is gone now after I flashed AT&T I337 Stock Recovery.
I have searched all over the net and these forums to try to get the phone back up, so far nothing is working on my phone.
Attached are pictures showing model #s and an error I got while trying to flash stock ROM.
Any ideas or suggestions on what to do next? Thanks in advance
I think is a refurbished device. But try to download, unrar and flash this firmware via ODIN: HERE. This is the STOCK firmware for your i337 (in theory). Tell me how it went and good luck .
Thank you. Downloading it right now. Which Android version is this?

It's android 4.4.2. We gona confirm that you have a refurbished device or no. Tell me too what errors appears in ODIN in case you have them. Dial *#1234# when the process of installation finish and tell me if all go ok.
Thank you soo much!
Some good news. I flashed the file and now device is up and running with the AT&T ROM. No errors.
AP: I337UCUFNB1
CP: I337UCUFNB1
CSC: I337ATTFNB1
Even phone model shows as I337

Be relaxed then. You own a SGH-i337, no a GT-i9505. The previous owner was flashing wrong firmware for sure. Enjoy your "machine" and Merry Xmas. :highfive:

Thanks mans for your help and Merry Christmas. Well I am not relaxed since I need a I9505 not AT&T. I'll be moving to the Middle East soon and so the AT&T will work there but I cannot use 4G LTE.
So he most likely even replaced the sticker under the battery to show I9505. I checked the IMEI under the cover and using *#06# and it matched. I checked IMEI online and it shows the model as I9505.
What the heck did the seller do to this phone? Salvaged some parts from AT&T model and installed it?
Just to do a small experiment, I'll get my friend's AT&T SIM card which have LTE and tested it on this phone to see if I get LTE or not.

1. I was telling you before is a refurbished device. They mix parts of differents models for create one new monster, like Frankestein .
2. I checked the original SGH-i337 and it has LTE. Take a look for yourself: HERE

I'm such an idiot! I missed the part about you saying it is a refurbished model. Well this is first for me knowing that they can build Frankenstein S4s! This particular phone is quite misleading.
Also yes you are right SGH-I337 has LTE but will not work in Middle East since we use different LTE frequencies there.
I'll get back to you after I do this small test just so I can feel a little better!
Joku1981,
I just used my friend's ATT SIM card and it connected to ATT's LTE network. Pic attached.
Thanks for your help. I'll contact the eBay seller and see what he can do. Worst case scenario I'll try to sell it on eBay.
and Merry Christmas!

Bought it for $250. came with 9505 box, original charger, usb cable(looks non-oem), manual and headphones. It is also unlocked. Tried a SIM from T-Mobile and it worked.
I purchased a used galaxy note 3 from ebay. It came running n900tuvufob6 lollipop, when i do and imei check the imei# comes back as a n9005. The device it self has an at&t battery cover and the sticker under the battery states its a n900a??? i need help identifying the device. i just recently flashed darklord n5 rom with twrp and would like to try some other roms out there. So what device do i actually have, a n9005, n900t, or n900a. Any help would be appreciated.
Your answer lies in the baseband. It's most likely a N900T.
confused

baseband is n900tuvufob6, doesnt baseband change depending on the rom thats flashed? darklord n5 is based on n900tuvufob6, i tried bobcat rom and i didnt like it and think it had a different baseband... lte wasnt working on bobcat? on imei.info the imei comes up as a n9005 im confused
As always Phone iNFO APP FROM PLAY STORE AND POST RESULTS .
Hi this week I got a Note3 as a gift but I can't figure if its a verzion or not because the back of device its Samsung SM-N900 although the about device menu show its N900V
also when I go to download mode its say it N900P.
also when I checked the Imei on IMEI.info the website show its n9005
I need help please cuz I'm so confused if it original or not
and I can't know how to update it. the device run android 4.4.2 and I hope to update it for 4.4.4 or 5 .
If the phone is rooted then all of the information under "about phone" can be modified by editing the build.prop file. If there is still a sticker under the battery you can check there for the model number. If you boot into recovery then it shows the current build at the top. If the build starts with N900V then the OS is Verizon.
thank you for answer ... the sticker show its N900
but the download mode show its N900P
I test the device hardware by mobile info app and antutu benchmark
the resualt was my device have snapdragon MSM8974 (32bit) with adreno330 GPU
and hardware revision N900P.12
and score at antutu is 43K
so what is my real type of device and which stock 4.4.4 rom I can use
thank you for any help and excuse my bad english
N900P is Sprint

can I use a stock rom from this link without loosing my unlocked device or what ?

The phone can't be sprint if it has a SIM. No one is going to be able to offer any help without physically checking the phone. It sounds like it has been modified which means it's rooted. If you update to 4.4.4 or 5.0 then you'll loose root and any modifications. You should probably leave it as it is.
I have a wrong version on my note 3 SM-N9005 the version installed now is for Note 3 Sprint SM-N900P and now i can't flash back the stock rom for SM-N9005 with odin it gives fails every time i try to flash it , even with a pit file it gives Re-Partition operation failed. it fails at the beginning i neeeed helllllpppppp please
Boot into download to see the motherboard's real model #. Where did you get the phone? As far as I know, it is not possible to flash an n900p ROM to an n9005 as the n900p is a CDMA phone.

Under the battery its a SM-N9005 and the in the Version is a SM-N900P the phone is not mine its for a friend
Download mode is where you will find the real model #. The label under the battery and model # in the ROM are not 100% accurate, especially if the phone was not a new purchase.
It is very easy to disassemble a note3 and switch motherboards.

At the download mod its an n900p but the label says n9005 is that normal ?
No, this is not normal. Looks like the body/screen is from an n9005 and the motherboard is from n900p. If you boot into the ROM and dial *#06# to get the imei, the imei probably won't match the imei on the label.
Was this phone a used or new purchase? If it was new, I would take it back and complain because Samsung does not mix motherboards and labels.

You mean there is no imei when you dial *#06# on the phone keypad? It says "null" or "unknown"?

If you cannot return the phone for a refund, I recommend flashing a stock n900p ROM from sammobile.com. Hopefully, flashing will restore the imei.

How can the phone model at the about section of my phone display SM-G900F while at the recovery and Odin mode it shows G900W8? How am I supposed to know the right model to flash if I want to upgrade the Android version from 4.4.2 to marshmallow?

Easiest way is to turn off the phone, take out the cover, remove battery and read the white label.
By the way, when I replied to your last post, it would have been polite to inform back if my suggestion was helpful or not.

Thanks for the reply. But how is it possible for different model software to be installed on a phone? All of the system applications show sm-g900w8 in Titanium backup and the label at the panel too shows sm-g900w8. My concern actually is if this is normal or the phone is just messed up. A quick analysis of the IMEI using the online IMEI analyser shows both sm-g900f and sm-g900w8 on the about section of the phone.
I'm sorry. I'm a bit new to this xda of a thing and the whole is a bit frustrating and overwhelming at times

As your phone is labelled - G900W8 what also is confirmed by the IMEI then no doubt what stock firmware you should flash. If "About the phone" info shows G900F it would mean that somebody meesed up by flashing different firmware (data from built.prop system file is used to display phone model in the settings).

Ok, but how do you explain the 'sm-g900f' showing at online IMEI analyser? When I checked the IMEI online, it was showing both g900f and g900w8. Here's a copy of the information obtained from IME info site about the phone's imei:
Information about your phone
Model: G900F Galaxy S5 (SM-G900W8)
Brand: SAMSUNG
IMEI: TAC: 352308 FAC: 06 SNR: 112738 CD: 8
In addition to this, here's what is also written on the same label that has sm-g900w8 as the phone's model:
IC: 649E-SMG900T
Making the third model that this ****ing phone has?

When I checked your IMEI on samsung IMEI checker it says: SM-G900W8.
Also, what is "IC" on your phone's label? I have following fields: "Model", "FCC ID", "SSN" etc. I don't have any "IC".

Infact, I don't know what that IC means too. Can I have the link to the Samsung IMEI checker? The website that showed up when I googled didn't display anything after entering the imei. The website nane is imeipro. Again, how could two websites show different information about an imei? imei.info shows the phone is both g900f and g900w8 but tend towards g900f in the details provided. Can someone even trust those imei sites?

To be honest you are digging too deep for this. I would just rely on what is written on the phone's label: "Model".
Here you have what I checked but I wouldn't rely on the checkers too much:
http://www.imeipro.info/samsung_imei_check.html
By the way if I were you I would remove the IMEI number from your previous post - it might be not safe to publish it.
