Hi, this guide will help you to relock your bootloader, in a few commands.
We know that it's was a tabu on Moto G3 environment, but a few times a go.
Requirement
OSPREY with considerable charge
PC/LAPTOP running Windows or Ubuntu (or other Linux Based OS also)
Only For Windows Users
Drivers: http://bit.ly/1WMv2L1
Only For Linux Users
Open TERMINAL and run the following:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot
Both Of Users
Official Images: http://bit.ly/1GfUqwr
Fastboot Files: http://bit.ly/1OncC0H
BEFORE PROCEED:
Relocking your bootloader means that you will no longer be a"tweaker" no TWRP no ROOT, no any other mods.
And its required to full flash the official images, so say goodbye for Custom ROMs.
In this process you'll lose all you data stored on internal storage, including all accounts, musics, videos, pic, installed apps. So, it's a good time to BackUp your important files.
After lock, on bootloader screen you should see:
Device is LOCKED. Status Code: 2
Software status: Modified
(For Now) We Cant Change to 0 and official, but's locked.
The bootloader warning messege will appear, after all procedure change the official logo.bin with modified.
You'll need to factory reset your device before.
Ubuntu users will need permission to use fastboot commands, so run su before.
The system.img_sparsechunk files are variable, so make sure you have flashed sequentially until the last.
FQA:
Q: If I relock my bootloader, will I have my warranty alive again?
A: No.
Q: Can i install TWRP or Root after lock my device's bootloader?
A: No, maybe with some unknown tricks by me.
Q: How to (re)unlock?
A: In order to unlock your devices again you need to allow it on developer settings and also you'll need your bootloader code.
for security reason don't expose these information, turn off OEM unlock on developer setting and hide your unlock code given by Moto.
PROCEED:
Download required files, and place on easy-find-place.
Extract both of files and the images files on [adb-fastboot-latest_win_linux] folder.
And open CMD or TERMINAL on this folder
Connect your device to via USB CABLE
Test it, if everything is fine by running this command:
fastboot devices
You'll see [SERIAL NUMBER] fastboot
Meaning everything is OK.
Now just run this sequence of commands:
fastboot oem lock begin
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.4
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.5
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.6
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.7
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot
Now Your Bootloader will locked Successfully

Sorry for my mistakes
And I hope this helps someone!

A: I don't know, probably no. Even after relocking your bootloader, it's possible to see if the smartphone was previously unlocked or not.

you're completely in the right, but sometimes local retailers only look at the bootloader status to check the warranty. so in theory you can gain your warranty back.

No, you're not gaining your warranty back, you are being deceptive and in most countries breaking the law as well.
Remember that in most EU countries the bootloader lock/unlock status is not relevant though, due to local laws in most countries there. (I noticed you were from the Netherlands)

My question is: in bootloader, after the commands, the device status is locked, software status is official and status code is 0? That's the information in a never-unlocked bootloader.
And the unlocked bootloader mensage desapear?
In my case I have device LOCKED software status Modified and status code is 2 and the warning message didn't disappeared...
I don't know with your details...

I have a query. If someone locks his bootloader using this, and wants to unlock again, will he need the code that he got from motorola again or just fastboot oem unlock will open it up? This is my first moto so I don't know the details. Any ideas mate?

Read carefully the guide, on FAQ section, I have explained that!
@ExaHamza - It is impossible to permanently lock Bootloader once it has been unlocked. I don't know how else to say this.
fastboot oem lock is not a miracle cure. It can simply be undone by anyone with fastboot access to your handset. Once you have unlocked the Bootloader, anyone can flash TWRP and has access to every partition on your phone. It's impossible for you to stop this. FRP partition can be wiped, so FRP does not exist either. FRP can only function as designed if the handset has never had it's Bootloader unlocked.
On every possibility you're speaking I have tried, and no way to install TWRP after relocking. I'm not saying in theory, I have this device, and I have tested. So if you still able to install TWRP after locking the bootloader, believe me that's issue of your smartphone!

@ExaHamza - Over the years people have posted problems with Moto G (1st Gen) and have mentioned they have relocked the Bootloader. These experiences have given me the impression that it's something that can be undone easily. This is why I believed fastboot oem unlock would be enough.
After typing: fastboot oem lock begin - is it possible to flash TWRP?

I showed in screenshot, even if I try fastboot oem lock begin will not work, I think that they have fixed this issue. Once locked no longer be able to flash TWRP unless you have reunlock.

I bought the 16gb because I couldn't not find a 32gb anywhere. Amazon had the 32 available yesterday so I bought one
You can lock it back up. However it will still give you the unlocked bootloader screen, and it will show status 2 in the bootloader menu.
There is no way to reset it without leaving flags that it was unlocked

I wouldn't worry about it, if I were you. Flash the stock logo.bin, relock it, and don't worry about what it says in the recovery menu. I'm not making any promises, but that's the way I would play it.

Is there a physical fuse that pops a la modern Samsung phones? Or are we still waiting for developers to figure out how to reset the flags on this particular model? I know that I've seen threads for other devices that walk you through resetting flags, so if it is only done with software on this device, we should be able to restore to 100% stock soon enough.
Here is Motorola's page on re-locking:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/recovery-images
Unfortunately they don't have the stock image available yet for the Moto X 2015 (scroll down).
I'm returning mine due to a damage claim and wanted to re-lock but we can't yet, at least officially. Moto still records when you unlocked, now listed under 'My Support History' in my Profile, so there's no way to hide that you unlocked if you did it through their site. The good news is it didn't affect my warranty claim in talking to a few support staff, and of course made sure not mention it myself but nobody there brought it up, so I tend to doubt it will affect your return. I did use the Restore to Stock tool (worked great!) and then removed the Unlocked warning, so it's just as if it had a factory reset.
I just relocked mine, no white screen on boot.
but it says
Device is LOCKED. Status Code: 2
Software status: Modified
Here's how I did it.
download this
open cmd, navigate to the folder extracted from the zip in the link above, this will erase your entire phone, reset to stock firmware and relock the bootloader
boot into bootloader pwr+vol down
run these commands
Code:
fastboot oem lock begin
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0

fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot oem lock
Now If I can figure out how to remove the status code and make the software status official.
It's probably impossible, for now at least.
Thanks this worked but it didn't remove the bootloader unlock warning. So I just flashed the boot logo and it's good to go. I'm pretty sure Best Buy is no educated on these things.

Good deal, sending mine back this week this will come in handy
Just to let you know, I returned mine unlocked. Unlocked has more to do with warranty claims, it doesn't void returns. That's a mandated law. Moto will just relock it and restore it to stock.

sent mine back, wasn't completely locked, still had the flag set. I got my money back, just wanted to let everyone know.
Will this restore the stock bootloader as well? In rooting mine it called for installing twrp...so wondering if this is a method back to complete stock?
Also, anyone know if rooted twrp will get ota's?

I'm returning mine as well and was stressing over this my bootloader being unlocked. Thank you both for your feedback on what happened after you returned it. People tend to forget to give details about the outcome on threads like this. So I give :good::good: to you guys
Don't worry too much about the unlocked bootloader status messages, especially if you flash the logo.bin to remove the giant notice on bootup.
When you return a phone, the RMA department is interested in just processing the return as fast as possible, and moving on to the next return. They are not in the business of checking every single individual device for voided warranties, for purposes of playing "gotcha" to find reasons to reject a return.
The fact of the matter is that it is a very small minority of people that will unlock / root a phone, and return it. And an even smaller portion of that minority that cause warranty-vouding damage as a result of those software-related changes.
Will there be people that abuse this return policy, and process illegitimate returns? Yes, of course. But it will cost Motorola (or Amazon) more time/money to individually check each return for voided warranties, than it would to just process the RMA as fast as possible and move on.
Sometimes, even if you KNOW people are stealing from you, it's still cheaper to just let then steal, than to take the time to try and stop that theft.

Yup! I've done it plenty of times. You do need to format the data partition though. This could mean that it'll wipe out even your internal storage, so back that up as well!

Yeah, the unlock procedure is the same as before. If you didn't restore the original boot image before the relock, then it's just a matter of booting into fastboot and unlocking the device. Note that this will cause your data to be wiped as well!
If you restore your boot.bin backup file from when your device was locked, does this lock the bootloader? "fastboot oem lock", "fastboot flashing lock" nor "fastboot oem device-info" does nothing for me. Is there any other way to check if your bootloader has been relocked?
Thanks

Guys/Gals, it is seriously as simple as using the fastboot command in reverse. I've done it a few times already with mine.
If you used the following to unlock....
fastboot devices
fastboot oem unlock
.....then you can use the following commands to relock
fastboot devices
fastboot oem lock
fastboot devices is not necessary, but I do it to make sure the devices is being recognized by ADB/FASTBOOT

But there are a few files to flash before using that command according to this thread.
Doesn't anything need to be flashed again (e. g. stock files or anything)?
Correct, but you would have already flashed those in order to use the unlock command in the first place.
Are you trying to relock on marshmallow or nougat?

My phone is only a few days old. I'm debating whether to keep it or not (considering the Mate 9, but the price is not the same - love the form factor and bigger screen though - sound won't be the same and I think I'll miss the MiPop button on the Axon (never thought that would happen )).
I'm on the latest MM (B10 - the A2017G model).
Following the mentioned thread, I got to the point of installing TWRP (the signed version), only to realize that besides making backups, there is not much else I can do with that without unlocking the bootloader. I really just wanted to flash supersu and install adaway fro the time being until development matured for this phone (maybe also play around with viper - had great results on my LG G4).
HI, I get the error "FAILED (remote: unknown command)" in ADB when I enter "fastboot oem lock". Any way to fix this?
Guys, can anyone help me? I really need to lock the bootloader!
How can I fix the error "FAILED (remote: unknown command)" in ADB when I enter "fastboot oem lock"?
I'm on MM B11 Stock.

Hi Guys,
The Axon 7 Model A2017U I just purchased has the bootloader locked and it is running LineageOS 14.1 - 2018032-Nightly-axon7. I need to relock the bootloader and get back to the stock MiFavor rom so that I can send the phone to ZTE for repair. Can you please explain to a newb in some detail how to achieve that.
Thank you.
Hi friends, zenfone 3 bootloder opened the lock. Now I want to close .Relock bootloader.
Ive tried asking this before for my Ze520kl, someone said it isn't possible to relock the bootloader
I would like to know if someone has an update about that...
When I tried to root my phone (ZE552KL Androïd 7.0) I installed an app to unlock the bootloader of my phone (ZE552KL_SIGNED_Android_M_UnlockTool_2016_0715). I used it and ever since, when I turn on my device, I get a warning screen saying "Your device software cannot be checked for corruption. Please lock the bootloader." It sends me to this link for information. The notification disappear after 10 seconds and androïd starts.
I was quite stupid to do that because I do not have to knowledge to properly root my device. So I give up, but I would like to get back my device without that security warning.
I have already flashed it from the recovery menu, with an sd card, wiping data and cache. But it didn't work.
Any advice?

keep in mind that Asus also keeps track of system mounts as read write changes, so if you're trying to fool them, locking the bootloader won't be enough

Hello Guys,
I am trying to relock the bootloader of MiA1 but if I type command- "fastboot oem unlock" then my mobile cause stuck on bootloop. The same thing also happens with AIO Tool.
So please help me if anyone knows how to relock bootloader again? And also let me know whether unlocking bootloader affect warranty or not?
I know one method to lock bootloader that is, you can install stock ROM by mi flash tool but I need to install magisk and that require to unlock bootloader and if I unlocked once then unable to relock again.
The command in fastboot is fastboot oem lock
Have you done some modifications to the stock boot.img file, such as using magisk or something else?

Not sure if I understood correctly, but it seems that you want to have Magisk + TWRP + locked bootloader. That is simply not possible. For locked bootloader you must have stock ROM (no root, in fact absolutely no modification).

Bootloader lock is like a door.
If its open you can put nice things like magisk, root, modification like custom rom and kernel.
Now if you try to relock it it won't lock until and unless you take all the modifications out.
Hope this helps.
If you need technical information just let me know
flash stock boot.img and then probably you will be able to lock bootloader. I have done the same way.

With Nougat i flashed stock image selecting "save user data" and i had bootloader relocked without losing data. Root and twrp were gone. I don't know if it is so with Oreo.
So you need TWRP and Magisk root but want a locked bootloader? That just isn't a possible combination.
To install TWRP, you need unlocked bootloader.
If you need root and TWRP, you need to leave the bootloader unlocked.
You can't have both worlds bro. If you unlock and install Magisk and other stuff, you simply can't relock bootloader. That's why you get bootloop

Some people might say yes some might say no.
It depends on manufacturer.
OEMs don't explicitly say that it won't void your warranty.
So its grey area.
I am going to email Xiaomi about this and update this thread when i get reply.
Had various experiences with unlocked bootloader. So better to follow safe path.
Edit: Called xiaomi helpline two times.
1st said it will void warranty
2nd said it won't.
Emailed them.
I chatted with a support representative and they said that unlocking bootloader won't void the warranty

That's just what he said it to you. I got two responses.
Support representatives aren't authorised to send you sms or mail.
If there's an issue with your device (Unlocked BL) and you took it to service center. They might say out of warranty due to bootloader unlocking and what would be your reply to that?
Support representatives said it won't void warranty.
You can't back it up with anything since you dont have any proof of that conversation.
So unless it is written somewhere by xiaomi. Words are just words.
Is it possible to unlock the bootloader, root, make some minor modifications (activation of camera api, copying fm radio apk to system folder, etc), unroot, and finally relock (flashing stock boot.img before, of course) ?
I want to have it unrooted because of bank payments, banks apps and streaming TV apps, but I would like to have proper camera and fm radio... Is it possible??

Short answer:no.
Long answer: locked bootloader must have stock system and boot partition. Stock boot image will boot only unmodified system partition. However you can have bank and streaming apps with Magisk - use systemless modifications and magisk hide feature.

If I relock the bootloader, do I lose my warranty?
You do not lose your warranty with unlocking bootloader. It has been made clear from the Xiaomi CEO. Doesn't mean that if you unlock bootloader and toast the cpu because of wild OC and weak thermal that your warranty will work os: I'm sending rooted and u locked device since years to service without any issues whatsoever

That's what the Xiaomi CEO said in it's last intervention. You can check it. It actually will depend on your reseller and his sell terms with Xiaomi.
