have you tried testing ur boardmic with sound recorder apps or smmi test on stock firmware? if the results are the same then it is likely that the mic on that board is faulty, go get it online and replace it urself, it is very easy to replace the board, just open all screws, remove the back cover carefully and the boardmic only take a small space of the entire phone case, remove the vibrator clip, sim card ribbon clip and small wire clip beside it carefully and just reattach the new board, and its done, hope this help. tq

How to repair the sound issue on Prophet
Hi
I could read a lot of posts on that issue and found this solution:
Remove the battery cover. Then the camera cover: to do so, lift up the gently the cover starting from the side of the battery.
You will see something looking like a fan. This is the speaker. the problem is with the red wire whixh connect the speaker.
Turn on your prophet and run your favourite MP3 song.
then touch the red wire with your stylus. The sound should come back. Insert a piece of folded paper to keep the cable properly fixed. that's all
Watch out not to wish to fix it too nicely, you could damage the wire !
Hope this help, otherwise a return to the service department will be necessary !
Hope this helps

Hay the paper trick works!
I went here to learn how to remove the flap to the speakers:
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=240109
Well, my speaker had the voice coil broken... touching the membrane would bring it back to life but that is no real solution. I replaced it with a speaker from a used old cellphone with some minor use of hot glue to fix it in place and seal around it.
It works now just as new.
Nir
yeah it is a real Problem.
mine is broken twice in 6 months.
tried the paper thing. but it sometimes sounds weird and there's some hissing. maybe I did it wrong. so I tweak it a bit and just lost it completely. no sound whatsoever now.
went to the service center today. they said that they have a new batch of speaker which supposed to be better than the previous one. if anyone can confirm.

That's great, this fixed my problem. After I touch the red wire with my stylus, the speaker just works fine, don't even need a folder paper.

I'll try this one myself - my speaker just died again - it's been back once already.
Well, I followed the instructions above and now I have a working speaker again. A very low tech fix to a high tech device.
I have found a small bit of sponge does the job better than folded paper.
what is the type of speaker.
i mean can i use any speaker?
what's the best?
Mohammad, you seem to have missed the point of the replies in this thread. We don't know where to get another speaker from but we do know how to make the existing one work again.
oh, dude!!!
sorry
What a piece of ugly Speaker: O2 xda Neo!
Hay Guys,
I am suffering from this nasty problem since sometime. My brother has tweaked the speakers with a metal piece seem to work. However if I use speakerphone, it goes off.
Is there a permanent solution to this constant spurce of unhappiness.
Incidently I have been blessed with a on & off camera problem as well. I think I will never buy a DOPOD product in my life again.
My Camera has those colour matrix instead of proper images. Occasionally it behaves normally. I have tried hard reset already.
Any body? help !!!!!

I wedged in a piece of foam. That's worked a treat.
The manufaturing quality of HTC is bad
I also have the speaker problem. And thanks for all of you to suggest that sponge and folder trick. I did it and i have put a small slice of ear plug sponge. For past 2 days my spearker is working. But dont know how long will this sponge give my speaker lifesupport. I am sure after few days again its going to be problem. Hey,...... is there anyone in this thread who has used sponge/paper and the speaker is working for long time.. at least a year ?.
These HTC products seem really bad quality products.
that worked

motorola l7 speaker is too a candidate
It's too bad they saved on the speaker. Guess the manufacturer of the speaker had a very nice presentation @ HTC
Trying to download that pdf file, but it's not working :/ However I've read on other occasions that people talk about that motorola speaker as a replacement. Might be worth giving a more detailed look into that.
What exactly is the problem with the speaker btw? Did anyone narrowed that down already? Why is the speaker not functioning properly?
pdf
The file contains instructions to change the original speaker using the spk of a motorola v525.
I did it yesterday, and works fine, but isn´t easy to do it
Hi, I've finally discovered the source of my sound issues, and its due to the power connector being loose (possibly from being dropped by the previous owner)... I've read around a few other threads and thought this might help others experiencing the same problem...
Is there anyway I can sort this problem though? I've bought one of those screwdrivers to open up the case to see if there is anything I can solder back in place... but any tips would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!
I'm posting this from my Hermes, so forgive the brief response.
1
How do you knpw it's the connector if you have not opened up yet?
2
There is a specific thread here with pics, showing the rear speaker connector - that in one guy's case was pushed loose by the stylus.
3
If your rear speaker connectpr is loose just push it back on.
4
Some sound problems can be caused by a faulty/failing speaker.
5
The front speaker has spring contacts that can be bent following a fall. These can be bent back into shape. If the front speaker has failed it can be replaced with a motorola model - there is a thread on this forum.

For a collection of dismantling instructions go to my web site in signature below. Scroll down to the loose stylus/keyboard part of the blog for links and info. A copy of the service manual is also available for download. It includes a dismantling procedure - more detailed than you need!

Hi, Thanks for your response!
Im pretty sure its the usb/power connector thats at fault, as it looks like its popped out of where its suppose to be and when the sound drops, if I try to push it back in/fiddle with it, the sound suddenly comes back on. Anything else I try doesnt work at all.
Im guessing that when the sound drops its because the device 'thinks' the headset has been plugged in, hence why there is no sound.
Thanks again.
shock after the speaker of my htc hermes 200 does not sound! what do I do to fix it ? !
thank you to answer me
There are several threads on this!
I assume you mean the rear speaker. Chances are the push on connector has slipped off see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1376254&postcount=2
Remember to line up the camera switch when you re-assemble.
You only need to remove the back cover. (Remember to remove the sim card first)

just follow Mikes splendid dismantle guide and try his suggestion first, if that fails - try ebay and order a replacement speaker and try again. i had problems with my back speaker (phone wouldnt make a sound when someone called me) i think total cost of repair was about 12$ and i have no electric education - just follow his guide and youll be fine
//jonte

Its good to know that your problem is solved.
My speaker refuses to work again, I guess... It wants to rest forever..
However, sound plays through the BT / USB headset.
Still trying to find a solution.
Hi. I have v20 and my speaker fidnt work.i can hear some noise once in awhile.i open the device and reconnect the speaker.then comnect.and agold piece accidentally broken.my question is if i replace anew microphone it should work?
I don't know it might be the motherboard contacts and not the speaker. Actually I had mine open recently and I slightly broke one of the contacts but not completely so it still works.
The pic you posted does't show the speaker contact pins .That one you see there is for something else, a ground pin or something.
Sure, if the contacts on the mobo are still high enough a speaker replacement would solve the issue. If the speaker is the problem of course - it may be the contacts are not touching the speaker properly.
I would test the speaker before buying a new one with an old earphone cable if you have one. You'd just strip the ends and place them on the speaker contacts while plugged into an audio player and see if you hear anything. Oh btw, strip off the felt grille off the speaker, it sounds way better that way.

My speaker also stopped working a few months ago. I bought a new speaker but it still doesn't work so I summer that something on the motherboard is fried. It may also have been caused by the resurrection I had to pull off using QFIL around the same time. Maybe something firmware-related.
I replace the speaker, but it still doesnt work. I guess because of the gold ribon that broke..is there any way to fix it??
Anyone??
loudspeaker not working - incoming calls not ringing
Did you solve the issue ???
I apparently have the same issue with my chinese refurbished v20
The strange thing is the audio jack for my earphones was not working (but I didn't really care because I don't need it) and now it's working ! ...
HI,
New to oneplus 5 forum.
I recently bought a used oneplus 5 with a broken screen.
I am reasonably familiar with replacing screens, and the odd modular parts of phones
So, replaced the screen and frame, put it back together, everything seemed good
Checked everything, all things seem to work, except for loudspeaker?
Headphone output works , but I get a clicking from the speaker.
Have tried another working speaker - same thing.
Have ordered another flex cable from motherboard to speaker in case thats the fault.
There are several contacts on the speaker and underlying module that appear to connect with the back case.
The back case has the headphone and usb charging port, and several electrical contact points.
So - does anyone know if the back case has to be clipped back into place to get the speaker working?
I am reluctant to try it just to see see because it is a pain in the xxss to get it off again without scratching my shiny new frame.
if anyone can enlighten me who has experience of this I would be most grateful.

YAAY!
t'was the motherboard cable
