[Q] Do custom roms worth tripping the KNOX Counter? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi
I have been using my brand new S7 Edge for 2 - 3 weeks and I'm very pleased with it. I saw that many good roms exist but do they worth tripping the KNOX Counter? If yes, what rom do you recommend?
I'm in a dillima right now and I thought that you guys can give me a clear cut answer!
Thanks

I've been using it for months and also in the same dilemma (root or not) but I think I'll wait for the release of NN before final decision. For now my answer is NO

You trip the Knox flag the moment you root.

Effects of tripping KNOX?

Hello guys, I have been lurking in the forums for quite some time now. Great community. Thank you for the hard work on android development. Today I have a question. What are the effects of tripping KNOX? I know that it voids your warranty. But usage-wise, What are its other effects? Does it prevent you from installing firmware updates when you eventually go back to stock? Will it brick the device? Would it disable any other feature or hardware?

NOTE3 , rooted... now what?

I I managed to root note 3 , what now?
I didnt trigger knox ...
I m coming from HTC ONE , I love flashing roms , recoveries , etc.

as you properly know tripping knox will void warranty if like me and dont care go for it there are some good roms and mods for the n3
Yeah, I've rooted my Note 3, and got rid of some bloat. I don't want to lose SPEN by flashing a non compatible ROM, so what else can I do to make my device better?

[Q] root 4.4 kitkat (warranty)

Hi i have a question to ask . I bought my note 3 1,5 month ago and it is with a 2 year warranty . Is there any method to skip knox and not trip warranty i. i have seen root de la vega ( i think it is not yet available or it would be i am not sure ) , also i saw that triangle away is available but i dont know how this afects warranty . Also i know that 4.4 kitkat is not so stable and developers are waiting for a more stable update . I hope someone can guide me . TY
@panospao7 the short answer is: NO, you can't root kit kat without tripping knox!

Unfortunately root de la vega does now not work anymore without tripping the e-fuse thus disabling your warranty. This is because Samsung have caught onto the fact peope were trying to bypass the Knox counter and so patched the bootloader. I must say this is the reason I left Apple all those years ago. When we pay for something we should have to right to modify it as we want. Seems Samsung are following apples ways. My suggestion would be to wait until your warranty has run out. Then root your device !!!!

If u r still on old 4.3 bootloader, yes rudlv will work. But if on newer 4.3 bootloader and up, rudlv won't qork without tripping knox.
And other method if rooting will trip knox for sure.
And even u successfully root ur current device without tripping knox, once u update to kk, u will have to reroot again, and this time... no mercy.
TA is not able to revert knox as well.
And this knox issue, in some countries, the service center still never consider the flag. U have to check it urself.
If u really need root access, then u may forget/ignore ur warranty.
As for me, I need it for work, therefore... hell with knox warranty.

Thank all for the help . I will wait 1,5 year to go root or samsung to change its policy ( something that in at least 2-3 centuries might happen

Need help in rooting Note 3 (N900)

Hey there,
My Dad just gave me his almost a year old Note 3 .I have seen various ways of rooting the Int. version of the Note 3 (N900) but all of them Trip this God damn Knox. Are there any possible ways of rooting my phone without tripping Knox ? And should I refrain from rooting with CF-Auto root as my Warranty finishes on 4th May
If your phone is running 4.3 or newer rom, I know of no way to root without tripping Knox.

Note 3 came with 4.4 out of the box and I updated it to 5.0
I don't think there is a way to root without tripping Knox.
Personally, I would wait until the warranty period is over.

Some Clarification!!

I have a doubt, i am new to samsung device, and know very less about knox, by rooting will it trip knox counter and void warranty? and is there a way to untrip it and claim the warranty or (unroot the device without any issue by flashing the stock fw via odin) .... (like with sony devices)? can someone explain it to me? Thanks
Rooting may trip or not knox depending the metod you use.Once tripped you cannot revert it,it is forever because you burn a fuse on the mainboard.Flashing a new recovery like TWRP will ALWAYS trip knox.
Rooting it may or may not trip KNOX. Considering that you are posting this question here in the A Series forum, I presume you have one of those devices. I don't think there's any method for our devices to root it without tripping KNOX. Flashing a custom recovery will trip KNOX, as said previously. The only other way is to use CF-Auto-Root, which I haven't actually tried, but I do think that it also trips it.
Which device are you using?
KNOX is like a fuse - once it breaks, there's not any way to reset it. At least not in these devices. Personally, I tripped it (on purpose) the day I got my phone.
Thanks for your replies I am using A5 2016..
I think there is no other way to root this device without triping it?

Check the developer forum for Note 3, there are some hints how to revert KNOX on Exynos devices.
