[CLOSED] Note 3 stuck in bootloop after installing TWRP Recovery - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, first of all, I'm new to all this so I'm not sure what I'm doing and I don't know much about technical terms.
All I wanted to do was to install CM12.1 ROM on my Note 3 Exynos. I was on stock Lollipop 5.0., rooted.
To start I had installed TWRP Recovery Manager from Google Play Store according to the instruction on the first page of the CM12.1 ROM thread. Then opening the app it asks me to install BusyBox (which I hit OK but nothing seems to be happening). Then on the very first screen I selected my phone model, then below I hit Install Recovery, which it did and report it was successful. Then it asks if I wanted to boot into recovery and I hit yes, and since then I have been stuck in a bootloop.
So I'm sure that I messed something up, but I'm not sure how to get out. I have searched through the forums and see multiple ways but I'm afraid to do anything in fear that I might damage the device any further. I am aware that one of the best solution is to flash the device back to stock ROM, however I have some data on this device that I want to keep, if that is possible.
Thank you very much for you help.

You recovery corrupted. Flash twrp with odin. If it doesn't work flash official firmware. You should not lost you data. Never use rom manger after this. It caused many cases of bootloop.

Trouble reflashing ASUS stock ROM for ZE551KL

I accidentally tried doing a factory reset, and flashing an incorrect rom. So I lost the stock rom, and have no other rom to use. I tried using TWRP to flash ASUS's stock firmware from asus's support website, under firmware. Using firmware file: "UL-Z00T-WW-1.16.40.763-user.zip"
but TWRP tells me "E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/TWRP/Stock.zip'
Error flashing '/sdcard/TWRP/Stock.zip"
I still have access to both adb, fastboot, and TWRP but I cant get an OS to install.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, haven't even had this phone a day yet, and already may have broken it.
I don't have an answer to your question , just got this phone yesterday and am in the process of figuring out how to root and install a custom recovery for this specific device.. I have found many methods to root but none for my specific model. I think you have the same model as I do and was hoping you could lead me to the place that will give me the files I need.. the box my phone came in has the model as ASUS_Z00TD (ZE551KL).. Sorry I wasn't of any help to you, hope you manage to figure out how to flash something that will get your device running again!

Happy to know that it works for you.
Whenever you got stuck in this situation, just flash stock recovery & you will able to flash stock rom again.

Do yo mean this stock recovery? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64441364&postcount=9
How do I flash it? just "fastboot flash recovery stock_recovery.img" ?
If so, I've tried that, and TWRP still boot when I try to enter recovery. Also, once I've flashed the stock recovery, do I just place the firmware on the root of the sdcard as 'update.zip' and try to install it from there?
Thanks for your help already, and sorry about the repetitive questions!

Thank you! That worked perfectly!!

Can no longer get into recovery boot

First, thank you for any help!
I did look threw the forums, as best I could... I did see any solutions here that worked for me... saw some one another site.. they did not work.
I can no longer get into ANY recovery boot... Every time I do the buttons, to go into recovery... it show "booting into recovery" blinks, vibrates... and then boots into the phone in normal mode....
I recently had to flash it to stock with Odin.... which lost my root.... I tried to install TWRP , so I could root it... did not work... then used KINGOROOT, to root it, which it claims DID work (the rooting) , after two tries... and then it did allow me to go into "stock recovery" mode...
...so i then flashed TWRP with Odin... and ... now, again, I get not get ANY recovery mode to come up.
ARGH!!!!!!!
Please help??
I have a N900T.
Android 5.0
Baseaband: N900TUVUFOL1
I believe it is rooted now
As long as you're flashing the correct file, it should work.

I am flashing TWRP 2.8.7.0 which is the SAME file I used when I flashed it... a year ago?
I know that there is a new version of TWRP... but I have heard there are problems with the newer TWRP flashing ROM's....
On another site, someone said that the problem was that if you flash back to stock, the new (stock) bootloader has a line it it, to check that you can only use stock recovery file... ... >sigh<....
My "simple" project... to upgrade my phone... has become a night mare.....
2.8.7.0-hltetmo?
If it doesn't work, try cwm.

Got it fixed!!
Figured I would say how, in case someone else has the same problem.
I had already rooted the phone with "Kingoroot" , when I was trying to put TWRP on...
By downloading and running "TWRP MANAGER" from the play store, it was able to install it on my phone, and I am now able to boot into recovery.
Good luck!!

A "special" s5

I posted here this past Sunday and got a response. However, I haven't been able to find my recent post since then. Was it deleted by accident? What's up, I just don't know...
Here it is again:
So my gf has an s5 that she kept from Verizon as she switched over to T-Mobile. It has an egregious amount of bloatware on it, but everything works fine: from radio to data, from calling to you name it. Thing is, she can't download anymore apps onto it and the "apps to SD" method provided by the Verizon stock ROM only does so much justice (limitations indeed).
I took it upon myself to attempt rooting the device with no avail. An SM-900V towards a custom TMO ROM, but how?
I tried towelroot, KingMethod, Odin, etc... no luck.
Before I go even further and risk creating a paperweight in the process, could anyone give me more insight into the best and/or successful method into rooting. :good: cheers.
(and thank you to that unknown person for spitballing me an idea... I tried... but the device failed over Odin)
Install twrp for klte with Odin. Twrp will root the phone. The first time you boot into restore mode, and then Reboot system it will ask you if you would like to install Su. Just click yes, and you are rooted

Wait, really? There's not need to unlock anything else, or flash/load something else? I mean, I've read that you can't unlock the bootloader and shouldn't flash a bootloader or radio, but to go straight for twrp and then a new ROM afterward? Or twrp, then boot into system? or download then flash ROM via Odin?
So I have the latest Odin (or do I need an earlier one?). It detects the phone, but I'll try to go straight to TWRP tonight and see how it goes. :fingers-crossed: :fingers-crossed:
Going to use the latest TWRP from here :highfive:
I'll let you know how it goes.
Thank you for replying, btw I'll click the button :victory:
Good luck!

Unable to install any rom with recovery.

I have a Note 3 N9005.
I installed the latest TWRP recovery.
No matter which rom I try to flash to the system, the same thing happens.
I see that the Aroma installer is strarting and than it just resets for no reason, no install made.
The only sulotion I have found so far is to install a 5.0 stock rom via Odin.
I want to install a custom rom 6.0.1.
Does anyone know what the hell?
Sae problem but a lil worse!!

I tried to do the same but ended up bricking my phone. So then I try to unbrick/unroot my phone by flashing the stock rom but I can't do that either cause now it says "Volume Size is too big 4620288<4718599. Need help!!!! ASAP!
Hey guys, I had the same problem at first and it freaked me out too.
Try installing the older 2.8.7.0 version for TWRP through the app, instead of the latest or any other after v3 for that matter. Apparently I've read from other forums that it's due to lack of Aroma Installer Support.
Hope this helps
Confirm the phone's model # by booting into download mode befor flashing TWRP or a stock ROM from sammobile.com.
Will try
I flashed the stock rom packege with odin.
saved my phone after brick.
so you are saying that by downgrading the TWRP recovery i can use aroma insatller based roms again?
cause i also tried to install reserection remix rom (I think this has no aroma in it), i got a massage that said that i cannot install it as well.
refuses to let me change into anything but stock rom.
rooting did not help at all.

To be honest I don't really know about Cyanogen Mod, however this was just my personal experience with Aroma Installer. I've tried DarkWolf_FW and Aryamod ROMs which are both S7 Edge Port ROMs, and they both use Aroma Installer.
- Also! Take the opportunity to make a Nandroid backup just in case the installation goes bad, then you can restore to where you are right now. Honestly downgrading just worked for me so please don't make me liable if anything goes to pot, at least you will have a full device backup to the exact point in your system which I have found extremely useful when trying different ROMs and Kernels.
tnks
don't worry man
1. I always backup the whole phone before ANY change.
2. your suggestion sound interesting, cause i tried the same rom's you did but no install was made.
3. i'll maybe try a different recovery... maybe CWM.

Hey, just randomly thinking, did you reset all your System, Data and Cache and Dalvik Cache files before you tried to install the ROMs? Sorry, this might not make a difference, but I don't think I have any more advice to give (I'm kinda new to this too ).
Hope CWM recovery goes well, let me know how it goes

Doing a complete backup before anything is always the safest bet.
From my experience, TWRP 3+ is fine for CM and AOSP based ROMs.
TWRP 2.8.7-0 is the one you should use to flash ROMs using AROMA Installer.
If you read the OP (opening post) on any ROM forum, it will usually include installation instructions and generally states which TWRP version should be used.
Good Luck.

I presume when you say it doesn't turn on you mean it doesn't boot into the Android environment. Have you tried unplugging the battery and pressing the Volume Up + Home + Power Button? Yes... I was surprised you don't have to be an octopus too..
Then restore the Nandroid backup from before.
You can also flash TWRP through Odin without root, have a look at the TWRP website for more info.

all you need is to flush new stock rom via Odin.
Search the web (like I did) to find a stock rom with 4 .tar files in it.
There should be instructions on how to install but usually all needs to be done is this:
1. load odin 3.*
2. enter the phone in download mode.
3. After you see the line 'add' in odin, load the .tar files to the correct place each (not hard they are tagged by same name)
4. Flush and pray.
5. After a successful install the phone will reboot, this will take a while so don't get streesed.
after about 10-15 min the phone will load again.
Root one more time via odin and try to install again.

Try Sammobile as they have a large database of firmwares for your phone and the country variants.

Please help me get my S6 Edge Plus (SM-G928F) out of TWRP Recovery

Heyy guys, this is my first time posting a new thread
Unfortunately, my phone is stuck in TWRP recovery. When it was still working I downloaded Flashify. I don't remember what but when it restarted the phone, it stayed in TWRP recovery and never went back to normal. I tried wiping my phone several times and still won't go back. Then I pressed the option Change or Repair System File or something like that. But I put the wrong option on that menu and now it is completely stuck on the TWRP startup screen , I can't enter TWRP at all.
I tried everything that I possibly could. I even tried flashing a different version of TWRP and Philz Touch but still didn't budge. If y'all have any possible solutions, please speak up. My phone has been like this for about 6 days :crying:
I'm downloading the stock firmware of my model SM-G928F (G928FXXSBPIB). That's the only thing that I think that could possibly make it work. Do y'all think the same or is there something else I could do?
Go in download mode and flash that stock firmware that you downloaded.

Ok so now if you want to root your phone. first install twrp and make sure oem is unlocked. Then when you boot into twrp make sure you dont select that option at the start otherwise you will keep booting into twrp continuously. Next flash cf auto root and then go back into twrp and enable that option that was disabled before you rooted your phone. You should be fully rooted with no errors.
