Hey everybody! I am a soon-to-be owner of the Axon 7 so you'll be seeing me around these subforums frequently. I have decided on this phone to be my new upgrade. I currently own the Idol 3 which turned out to be a huge disappointment.
After watching some YouTube hands-on videos of this phone, I noticed some comments of people asking if it has an LED indicator light. I was curious as well since there was no mention of it in the specs or any reviews. To my surprise there's no visible LED on the front, which made me think maybe the notification light is embedded in the speaker grill like the original Nexus 6 was hiding and the dev of Light Flow discovered. But this YouTube hands-on video maybe confirmed that there will be a notification light in the upper left corner just under the camera based on the diagram of the free included screen protector. I would assume the larger cutout to the very right would be the proximity sensor. At around the 3:40 mark he turns the device on and there you'll see a faint red light in the spot I'm talking about in general. Now that could be the proximity sensor as well, and the other cutout could be for the notification LED.
This is all speculation. But I do hope it would have a notification light for the price and other included specs. What do you think?
Notification LED has been confirmed by ZTE reps on the official forum. Altough we don't know yet if it's RGB or not.
If i'm not mistaken he said it would be in the top left part of the Axon 7.

I was looking at some videos online of the TF yesterday and I noticed that most of the people that have the dock close it from the top of the tablet. Being that the dock only holds to the bottom of the tab, is it possible that the chassis is getting stressed causing light bleed? I know there are people out there that dont have the light bleed issue. I am wondering if those people use the keyboard dock or not.
Just a theory
I have light bleed from the right-middle side of the display. It was like this out of the box. No dock (yet.)
I have 7 (seven) light bleeds 2 on the left hand side, one in left top corner, 3 on the bottom and one in the middle on the right hand side, no doc but i've noticed that when you twist the tablet slightly the bleeds getting brighter and stay this way for some time so there may be something in yours theory
My theory is that Asus had to cut lots of corners to get the TF to as cheap as it is and the bleeding and cheapo plastic casing is a consequence of this. :/
Actually, I think it's related to the IPS screens, because the iPad/iPad 2 have had similar light bleeding.
When I dock the tablet, the light bleed becomes more apparent. Yes, the pressure does something, but it can't be fixed either way.
Just FYI. A lot of LED LCD Samsung TV users have noticed bleeding from the sides of those TVs and have fixed or helped the situation by relaxing the chassis screws in those areas.
You can search for more info about it at the AVS forums.

I have noticed this as well... all of the bleeding on mine seems to be more obvious when it has been docked and in use for a period of time. I was going to ask the question to everyone else (if they were also having that experience). I guess I don't need to now.
I've had light bleed from day one and don't have a dock.
Finally decided to test this light bleed thing. Max brightness in complete darkness showed no lightbleed. So, it's not chronic to every unit.

Transformers like yours seem to be the exception rather than the norm though.

just did the same. full brightness in a dark room. no light bleed. guess i just got lucky [knock on wood]
I finally got a TF and the Dock. I used it for about three weeks without the dock and th light bleed slowly started showing up I haven't noticed more or less light bleed when in the dock but I have notice that it is most noticable at the bottom right corner and I happen to be right handed.
I don't know if there is any weight to my original dock theory but the light bleed has deff gotten worse in the last couple weeks
I read some posts regarding the light bleed in pure black screen under a dark environment with brightness set to 100%. However, My Nexus 7 (2013) doesn't show a serious problem in this condition but very noticeable at the top edge with other colors especially the grey and blue.
I took two shots here and do you guys think it is serious?
My Nexus 7 (2013) has been repaired for 4 times (The first time I have one dead pixel in the center of the screen) and I afraid if the Asus service center replaced a new LCD panel for me, it will have dead/stuck pixels again.

Katecca,
There will always be light bleed sooner or later. I had my N7 G1 and it light bleed too. It gets worse with time but are you going to keep staring at the corner of the screen while you play Real Racing 3? With light background colours you won't notice it. My N7 GII had excessive light bleed the first time I turned it on but after I put a colourful wallpaper you can't see it anymore. If everything is fine then there is no point in bringing it in to Asus for repair.

The lighter background color, the more noticeable light bleed. I tried RR3 and it is noticeable when I focused on the left edge.

Actually light bleed doesn't get worse over time. Unless somehow your screen gets so hot that it melts the seal of the screen. Which then means light bleed is the last of your issues.

Silly question here, I've had an s3 for 2 years now and when debating which color s5 to get, (between black or white) I'm wondering, does anyone own a white one and had some use with the LED notification light? When I saw an s4 in store I noticed they made these lights smaller/dimmer than on the s3... Is it the same case for the s5?
One thing I liked about the white was when the light was blinking, it would light up half the front bezel on my phone because its white.. Does this effect happen with the s5? If anyone has some pictures of videos of their notification lights blinking on a white phone (I wouldn't mind seeing it on a black phone too) that would be awesome!!
Thanks!
(our tmobile store stucks I went in yesterday and they had NO demo units, they acted like they had no clue when the phone would arrive, and I'm stuck at work all day today, just trying to figure out what color I want).
Hi there,
Was just reading this as my white S5 is flashing away. There is definitely slightly more light spread than just from where the notification light is but I wouldn't say it lights up the whole bezel.

well it only appears to light up a good portion of it in a dark room, like at night when its beside my bed on the night stand and it's dark with no lights on, I can see light travel down the sides (it doesn't quit light up the bottom) but it definitely lights up a large portion of it!!
thank you for your reply!
My screen has been like this since day one. In the pictures you can see brighter back light bleeding from the top center/right, the right middle/bottom, and the bottom center/left. Also, a bit of light shines through the white bezel in the bottom center which now that I notice, won't stop bugging me.
Was hoping it would go away but I got this on Amazon so an exchange would be easy as long as it comes back in stock soon (white 32GB).
Is mine the only one plagued with this? Keep in mind that this is with brightness turned all the way up on a black screen.
Yea I have screen bleed at two spots but it doesn't bother me unless for some reason it starts to expand then it will become an issue.
Most LCD panels, which are backlit, will have some light bleed around the edges. You can return the phone for a different one, but you'll probably have the same issue. It is the nature of backlit LCD panels. AMOLEDs don't have this problem since each pixel has its own light source.
Thanks for the input guys!
I don't seem to have this issue on mine. I can't notice anything like this when I turn on Moto Display. Is there an easy way for me to test this out?
the nature of LCD. one of the reasons I enjoy amoled as well.

I have this screen bleeding too.
I've got my device yesterday and started "Dead Pixel Test", on the black screen i saw the screen-bleeding.
All my previous devices didn't have a screen bleeding, or it wasn't noticeable like that.
Honestly I'm a bit disappointed by the quality of the screen. I have some major light bleed at the lower left hand corner of the screen. Hard to unseen once I've noticed it.
Anyone else experiencing the same?
Lightbleed probably guaranteed from the top half near the camera...
Worth checking that out too...
I must be one of the luckier ones. Zero bleed for me.
Mine was a very early unit too (purchased in Taiwan on release day)
no light bleed here too.
Zero light bleed here. I have one of the pre-order US units.
Light bleed from the second screen but only when brightness is jacked up, which is often for watching video. No better nor worse than my old V10's 2nd screen but disappointing nonetheless.
Hi all I also have no light bleed anywhere on the screen and have to say I have mine on full brightness nearly all of the time and tend to use dark wallpapers so if it was there would of shown by now. I have to also say the screen is absolutely brilliant being bright and clear and one of the reasons I chose the Ultra was for its super LCD over being a amoled screen.

I just went through 2 white U Ultras in Canada...and sadly...both had the same light bleed issues. I really like the device...but in the end...I had to send them back and get a refund. HTC seems good about it though. Maybe I will pick it up again in another couple of months after a price cut.
Black HTC Ultra : No light bleed
HTC or Amazon recognize the light bleed as a defect that justifies the replacement or return with refund?
I have an HTC U Ultra with a light bleed at the lower left corner
