[HELP][Q] I9500 Stuck at samsung logo + an empty EFS folder

Hy everyone,
I'm a little desperate now. my i9500 is stuck at Samsung logo even the animation sound that not complete, i had mokee rom 4.4.2, made a restore from a previous nandroid backup, barebone prism rom V3.0 worked perfectly, installed nandroid manager and restored some access point passwords, worked perfectly so far, my phone reached 1% in battery then turned off after a while. when i wanted to reboot it, the phone freezes in Samsung logo.
Recovery: Philz touch recovery
I tried everything that i know about,
1° reboot in revocery and restore from a previous nandroid backup (NOT GOOD)
2° reboot in recovery, perform a full wipe, restore from a working previous backup (NOT GOOD)
3° reboot in recovery perform a wipe reset (NOT GOOD)
4° restore via odin in download mode last stock firmware for my phone I9500XXUEMJ8 (NOT GOOD)
5° i tried mounting all partitions for check and .... Eroor mounting /efs!
i checked efs folder with aroma file manager ... 0 files inside :crying:
i had a previous backup for EFS found in kies in .tar.gz format
i tried to restore it with several methods
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392632
guess what ?? NOT GOOOD
i tried manually to copy files in EFS folder and changed the permission for EACH file with the same permission from the backup in my laptop then i reboot in recovery, the files still inside but when i reboot the system, the files are gone
i've read somewhere that there is two type of efs , and the efs made by some old stock rom won't work for a new one (Personally i don't know but like i said i'm desperate) so i downloaded from sammobile the FIRST rom that was in my phone and put it via odin (Re partition was never checked) then i tried the methods above ... :crying::crying::crying:
because i only have .tar.gz i tried restore it and witout rebooting the phone ===> (EFS Folder not empty YET) made a backup in .img format so that i can restore in /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 still not good
so i REALLY need your help and plz do not ask me to go to service center, warranty binary status is 1
Thanks everyone and have a good day

[Q] SM-N900 EFS nv_dat.bin corrupt EFS etc Pease HELP!!!!

I have a sm-n900 exynos and I have lost my imei and baseband during a Samsung flash. I have a TWRP backup, efs.img backup by dr.ketan's backup tool but nothing is able to restore my efs. I have scanned emmc blocks for bricked blocks and all blocks come back as non-corrupted. may be the partition is corrupted .how do I erase my efs partition to rebuild it. I have tired to flash PIT from ODIN but that too doesn't work.
tried this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...567133&page=36
but need a guide to identify the partitions and how to rebuild them. by any chance anyone know if I could extract twrp backup to files to restore efs or from efs.img so I can use the nv_data.bin, since tried restoring the backups and it didn't restore I feel the partition might be corrupt and hence not being re-written. so might be I have to rebuild the partitions by formatting as explained in this thread. but I don't know exactly the steps for exynos variant. I tried using terminal on twrp but mkef2 command shows mmbcblkp03 doesn't exist which as I have read in posts is the efs partition on this phone and reboots to twrp recovery. and mmbcblkp12 show filesystem too small and reboots to twrp recovery
Can some one upload sm-n900 efs folder may be can try and edit nv_data in hex editer

Could you provide more details about the backup you have:
- What files do you have? What is the name of these files, and also the file sizes?

So it seems you have the correct backup for your device. Some more questions:
1- Can you show the link to the EFS tool you have used to make a backup?
2- What is your difficulty now? You don't know how to restore? Cannot restore? Or you already restored but the problem still persist?
Please be noted that you have to restore ALL efs-related partitions, NOT only 1 partition.
At the moment, my app 'IMEI Backup ★Samsung★' can only restore from the backup that has been made by it. But I will add the ability to restore from the backup which was made by other apps, may be in the next release.

That means the above-mentioned app does not work correctly with the restoring job?

Calling Dr.Ketan need to reach you

Dear Dr.Ketan
since I have recently registered I am unable to post anything on the development thread. I am facing a serious problem. and I am asking you this because I had backed up efs.img 20 Mb and it has helped me restore earlier. but now it's failing to restore my efs. I am explaining the problem below.
I have a sm-n900 exynos and I have lost my imei and baseband during a Samsung flash. I have a TWRP backup, efs.img backup by dr.ketan's backup tool but nothing is able to restore my efs. 1. could you tell me if it's possible to extract the efs.img to the efs files and will it help.
2. do you think there is a way I could retore from your tool using some other method.
i have tried the following things too
tried this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...567133&page=36

[Q&A] Restore EFS from Nandroid Failed (Solved)

Hi Everybody,
I'm really disappointed. For the second Times, I've corrupted my EFS partition. IMEI is empty, as the baseband...
The first time that I had this problem, I could restore the EFS using the fabulous fix from Fireasusman : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47014662#post47014662
But this time, It didn't work.... I'm really really sad.
Before trying to restore the stock firmware ( My problem was coming when i tried to restore stock firmware before to sell it) i made a Nandroid backup with TWRP recovery. I've an EFS/MODEM backup in this Nandroid.
When I reboot into recovery, and go to restore, I can select EFS, and it seems restore It. It wrote : Restoring 2 partitions/Restoring EFS/restoring EFS2/restoring EFS3/EFS Done/Restoring Modem/ Modem Done...
But after reboot the problem is Still There...
I'm really Angry, I lost 400$ and I don't understand why my Nandroid Restore of EFS failed...
I also try to flash modem with ODIN but it still Failed.
Note: I was an temasek CM12 (android lollipop).
Thank you very much for every help.
1. Flash STOCK ROM and take a look how it works. Sometimes only flashing it recovers the EFS folder.
2. Next time use this APP for backup/restore your EFS.
Really thanks for your help.
But i've allready try to restore stock ROM. At least twice. But efs is still corrupt. And the phone never arrive to boot...
About how many time I can consider that flash stock ROM will not repair my EFS partition ?
I've allready done twice...
Ok... I solved my problem.
As I explain in first post, I'had a EFS backup with a Nandroid Backup. But when I restore with TWRP, the problem was still there. No pin, No baseband etc...
I only delete the EFS folder using root explorer. I reboot, and it was OK. EFS folder was rebuilt automatically.... No more complicated than that...
Good finding

Because the IMEI is not stored in the EFS folder.

SIM not recognized after restoring TWRP backup

Hi! I have a hlte/SM-N9005 with LineageOS.
Today I tried to turn on encryption, but then I was stuck in a boot loop. I did a full wipe in TWRP and restored everything from the backup I made before (including the modem partition).
My phone boots again (without encryption), but isn't able to detect any SIM card suddenly. Not sure if something went wrong with the restored modem backup?
I tried downloading a Swiss firmware from this link, extracted it, and flashed modem.bin and NON-HLOS.bin via Heimdall - this didn't help either, though. I'm kind of out of ideas now... Any idea what's going wrong?
IMEI correct ??
Phone Status > Status > IMEI information says "IMEI: unknown" :-/ I'm guessing this is supposed to be there, even without a SIM?
Restore your backed up EFS folder .
Restoring the EFS folder from the TWRP backup is what got me into this mess in the first place. There's probably supposed to be a /efs/.nv_data.bin in the backup, but there isn't for whatever reason. I don't have older backups anymore either.
