I have a galaxy note 3 Sm N9005 running on android 4.3. I want to upgrade it but whenever i check for an update it shows " your device is running on the latest software".
Google.

I am sure that V4.3 is not the latest Android for Note 3. But I am not clear why you got that version checking result.
You get the latest version for individual phones .Basically dependant upon supplier/ network .
Sammobile lists latest firmwares .
Try updating via Kies
Go to sammobile.com
Download the latest version and flash it using odin
Maybe there is something wrong woth your firmware....so try this method

Hi Guys,
Recently got the a Note4 after being an S4 fan for 2 years. Tried to go ahead and root my device and i presume failed miserably. I don't think i did enough background research like i did before when rooting my S4.
Model: SM-N910G
Android V: 5.11
So,
I followed this to root my NOTE4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/orig-development/sm-n910-cf-auto-root-t2897428
Then my phone didn't pick up any signal and kept restarting every 2 mins once the device was turned on. So i looked around some more threads and saw a post that i should download and boot this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62241991&postcount=56
I still have no Mobile data signal and my phone keeps restarting!
Any guidance how to get it back to normal? I don't even care about having my phone rooted anymore - Or am i completely stuffed?
Many thanks!
download stock firmware from sammobile and flash with odin.
You've been doing things wrongly.
Firstly, the CF autoroot for N910G currently only supports up to android 5.0.1.
Secondly, you should not ever install kernel that is not for your specific phone model. Sprint Note 4 =/= International Note 4 Snapdragon (N910G)
To restore back to normal, download official firmware for your phone (N910G). And then flash it using Odin 3.10
Edit: Download official stock firmware from either Sammobile or Samsung-updates. Or u can use the firmware downloader created by fellow XDA member. Be sure to download the correct firmware version/carrier
Thanks guys. Problem solved!
my note 3 device status is shown as custom and i want to change it to official..i want to use method that requires flash through odin and installs note 3 official firmware for india..if any other simpler method please do suggest else please provide links for firmware download
thanks in advance

Stock firmware from sammobile.com can be flash via Odin and change everything to "official" when the phone is booted into download mode.
Hey guys, I have a problem and I need your help... Yesterday I flashed via Odin3 UK official stock rom on Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (Android 8.0)... Everything worked okay, did some updates through the phone... I saw that Samsung Health app doesn’t work because it said that software was modified... So I searched YouTube and found that I need to root the phone... So I downloaded TWRP recovery 3.2.3... I flashed it via Odin3 without any problems... I downloaded custom unofficial Samsung rom (Android 8.0 by Jays)... it works well, Samsung Health app works also... it has latest patch from January 2018... but the phone can’t get official updates via OTA... so I decided to get back to stock official rom from Samsung... I downloaded 3 different roms with different country(Android 8.0) but every I try to flash via Odin3 fail... I don’t know why but I can’t flash it... The binary of phone was firstly custom then it changed after trying to flash to Samsung Official and system says custom... TWRP is missing there now and anything I can do is get to download mode... One important thing which I saw is: RP SWREV (B:3, K:1, S:2)... also when I try to flash the phone says under this: SW REV CHECK FAIL(BOOTLOADER): Device: 3, Binary:2... I tried different AP in Odin3 but still without changes (also saw Kernel fail: Device:1, Binary:0)... I want to get the phone right on official firmware... I hope it’s not bricked... Any tips or help will be appreciated (I read a lot of posts here but nothing help)...
Hi.
You can only flash roms that have the same bootloader version as your phone or higher.*Downgrading is not possible .
Go to Sammobile and search for the latest Firmware of your device ,download and flash it via Odin.
Good luck
Yep, search latest firmware with same binary your binary is B3 and you cannt flash any old firmware like B2 or B1
Model: SM - N910F
android version 4.4.4
baseband version: N910FXXU1ANJ4
currently running 4.4.4 and when I search for updates it tells me that I currently have the latest update, which of course I don't.
I'm guessing that the best option will be for me to bring it up to date using Odin, can anyone advise what I will need in order to do this? where is the best place to find the software I need etc
All help and advice gratefully received, Thanks in advance
NONE OF THE STOCK TAR IN THE LINK IS FOR SM-N910F
THE ODIN IS ALL THAT YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD
You will have to do an online search for the Samsung drives needed. YouTube search for using Odin to flash official firmware. Importantly is a must. The link Odin ONLY. Just dont want you to flash incompatible firmware. Good luck.

I have the same issue, 4.4.4 and I want to get 6.0.1 installed.
Is this something that a non geek can do? I am going to google Odin. What should I watch for so that I dont flash incompatible firmware?
My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (Android 4.4.4) is SM-N900V, however in the settings, it says that the model number is SM-N9005 and the baseband version is N9005XXUGBOA1.
My primary aim is to upgrade my phone to Lollipop(Touchwiz), also there is no option for system updates in the Settings.
Tried using Odin to flash official rom from Sammobile but Odin says NAND WRITE FAIL. tried all sorts of solutions such as using a diffrent version of Odin and changing the cable etc but nothing seemed to work.
Also, for root, tried different apps and CF auto root but no luck.
