It seems nice except that it looks like it will need a proprietary replacement band like the Pebble Steel. Why would any company limit themselves like that?!?

Is this really a new SmartQ watch?
I don't see this on Smart Devices home page?
English page
Chinese page
I sent an email over to Sherry at SmartQ about the band. They say it will be replaceable. I also inquired about the overall color as I don't believe having one model that's polished steel would satisfy the market. They said that they haven't made up their minds about that yet.
"Good day!
About the P1, we will release it in May or June, now i still not got the detail launch schedule yet. Of course, the watch band can be changed, but now we did not have final decision on the color issue. So i'm afraid that i will answer your concerning questions later. Sorry!"
So, if you want to see this watch in more than polished steel, time to fire off some emails over to SmartQ.
This looks very interesting. Personally I would choose this over the original just because it IS polished steel.
Two New Smart Devices models
.
Smart Devices is actually releasing two new models - the H1 model that is very similar looking to the original Smart Devices Z-Watch -- plus the new P1 Model, with the stainless steel design
.
pics of the H1?
the P1 looks nice, how thin is it?
3.5mm jack
Does it still come with a 3.5mm port?
Thx

Stay away from actv I own it. Its on gingerbread it has no mic no speaker and the os setup sucks mad respect to clear d the only reason I bought the thing was cause of his work. Smartq z is good choice along with the star e2602 what I currently use and its awesome.

just posted a review for the ikwear ik8 in this section (for smartwatches). quite happy with it. just my 2 cents
ikwear ik8 -MTK6577 (two year old SOC)
Would be better off with the Omate clone for $20 more or the SmartQ Z for $35 less which may be getting official Wear according to what was posted on the SmartQ Wear thread.
Hello everyone I would like to ask if the M3 is worth buying anymore? I had the M3 in the past but it broke, so the store i bought it from gave me the money back. I loved this device and could not find any device currently available that fits my usage of a tablet more than the M3. But sadly, it was released one year ago and I dont know how long Huawei supports the device. Is there any Information of an upcoming release of the M4? Since its already is a year old, does Huawei will release the M4 soon?
Thank you!
It's worth it. You want a solid tablet the m3 is. I have the 64gb wifi model. It's pretty much the best android tablet right now. Or wait...

I know that it is really good, as I said I already had one in the past and it was a great tablet, but i am not sure if I should buy it or wait for the M4.
Is there any information about the M4 out yet?
Honestly haven't heard a thing...
No news yet of an M4. Tablets are not that popular anymore and they are not being updated as often as it was a few years ago. A 64gb tablet with 4gb or ram is not going to be obsolete anytime soon.
How is the gaming performance? I had a honor 8 and it wasnt that great, I had to used the lower resolution in order to achieve playable framerates on some games, does the M3 has the same thing?
Gaming performance is very good. I almost ran out of space installing the games I bought in time. M3 got some discounts in time making it even more appealing.
Amazon just lowered the Price of the LTE Version to 270 Euros, maybe there will be a new one soon?

The question is: is a regular sale or a sign that a new model is on the way? Maybe they present it when they release the Mate 10 on the 16th October?
I got the old M2, basically the M3 is the same thing but with less bezels.
I've been thinking of buying the M3 as well but i haven't since the specs (cpu/graphics) just isn't that great.
It wasn't even great at release or in comparison to anything more "high end" released in 2016 and 2017.
So buying that tablet in the end of 2017....? I rather just wait for the updated M4 if that will ever come.
It's a pity though, Huawei is the only one releasing tablets thats good for media and that has a ~8" screen @ 16:10 which makes the tablet much more "pocketable" then others. Something that's quite a huge deal if you carry it around a lot since it basically mean that you won't have to use an extra bag but rather can just have the entire tablet in a pocket (try that with a tablet that has a 4:3 aspect ratio.....).
My almost three year old Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is showing signs of coming to the end of its live. I am looking for a new tablet, preferably with a widescreen ratio and stereo sound in landscape mode, so it's an entirely relevant thread to ask. Would you buy the Huawei Mediapad M3 again in 2017, or would you wait for something else?

My understanding is that the the CPU cores used in the Kirin 950 SoC of the M3 could easily trade blows with Snapdragon 820, which was the top Android smartphone CPU of 2016. The GPU side of M3 was significantly less capable, which is fine by me (I barely play games, and none on a tablet).

Yeah, the CPU is comparable to the SD820 however the GPU is not and that's sort of 50/50 for when using higher resolution screens.
One also has to note that the M3 was released in october 2016 so if there's a M4 it may be announced very soon.

I have the same hesitation because I need a tablet nowadays and at the same time, I don't want to invest in something almost obsolete. I took a final decision of waiting because Huawei is most likely busy with their Mate 10 so I HOPE they will announce it after the Mate 10 dust passes over

Keep in mind that the tablet market is so weak that a lot of manufacturers stopped announcing a new model every 12 months. The distance between the M2 (may 2015) and M3 (May 2016) announcements was something like one and a half years. I'll personally wait for the M4 because I just ordered parts to repair my Tab S.

It's sad to know that tablet market is not good as it was before. I'm still waiting desperately for the M4 and what annoys me is that I don't have an approximate date for its release because if it's too long to wait for it, I'll buy the M3 even though I'm not quite satisfied by some things in it + it has been there for a while (1+ year).
Does anyone have a guess or a clue about its announcement date? I'm guessing Dec 2017
mr too haven't heard a thing...
I'm having the same doubt as well.
I'd mostly use it for gaming.
I've read contrasting feedback regarding gaming performance on M3 (with Marshmallow).
However, I wasn't able to find info on how the tablet performs after the Nougat update.
Any idea? Thanks!
Hello everyone! Will mediapad M3 be update to Oreo 8.0? Is there any news about it?
Thank you!
I am Sorry. I found proper topic for this question.
I would say the tablet in terms of performance and hardware is great, especially the screen and speakers are far above average, and I also love the form factor and the 16:10 screen. On the other hand EMUI is probably the worst customization of Android on the market by far (I'm talking worse than touchwiz here, far worse) and it seems that we're done getting updates too, stuck on may security patch too. Honestly if I were to choose a tablet today I would spend a bit more and get a windows 10 tablet.
We know we will get it by year max as per expectations, but no beta yet... So does anyone has any update on this
What can we do except waiting! -_-
Company is focusing on pocco f1, mi 8se, both received beta..... This one is android one phone and not even beta by now..... I bought this device for early updates and one program only.

How come the Mi A2 is a failure if it's one of the best selling Xiaomi phones on Aliexpress and other markets?
If you don't like it, sell it and buy a new phone, it is that simple, no need to be a martyr.
If you want custom roms, how about you develop it yourself instead of complaning that no one took their free time and knolowedge to make you free roms? I can only speak for myself, as I have no desire in developing for such an arrogant and whiny user base as of the Mi A2's. Or I can develop a Pie AOSP rom and charge for it, how about that?
Android One responsibility are complicated..
So far away for pie
Just talk about some bug on current 8.1 rom (like slow emmc read/write speed, unresponsive proximity sensor n etc) and some miss faeture and support like arcore, camera2api, tap2wake...
Im sure they work on it but not fast like miui
To be honest mi a2 are overshadowed by redmi note 5/pro, and poco f1, so this phone not much attracted/interesting for some community developer...

That was one of the more refreshing posts I've seen in awhile. Thanks for posting it.
Having some from the HTC 10 forums, where the users are pretty respectful, some of the Mi A2 users here do seem particularity whiny and demanding of attention.

It's really the worst XDA experience for me so far. Threads with the same topics all over and constant demanding and whining instead of being happy about a cheap good phone

its a big mistake to buy this mi a2 with this very little battery, horrible suport, a lot of bugs, a new 1401 clock bug, no pie, no twrp, no suport, this is the worst phone i ever buyed, now i will sell this, i cant handle this feilure phone
I'd rather have a smooth and bug free phone than a rushed update. I mean, both the A2 and A2 Lite are full of bugs. Nokia is working with only Android One phones, while Xiaomi have so many to work on. They are slow anyway.
Guys, my topic says its a premium phone and don't have any problem with it. Getting superb screen on time, pics, android one, fast charging and dont need much.
But just curious about pie update as even nokia 6.1 got it... Don't be upset with it. If anyone knows can tell otherwise its ok

Pie update is in testing, Xiaomi sells far more A2 than all Nokia combined, so the extra care, whatever pie update should come in few days with November update.
Sent from my Xiaomi Mi A2 using XDA Labs
The main reason why I bought the phone was Android One. I expected to receive updates as early as possible just like the damn website on Android One is saying.
Until now, Xiaomi is a big f*cking disappointment because of bugs, CPU frequency lock (I have a phone that can't be used with Fingerprint and those morons at Xiaomi don't even want to acknowledge that), slow updates, no camera2api enabled by default (I had to erase the phone!), TWRP etc.
This is by no way a premier/premium phone. The Galaxy A5 2016 I had for two years was way better because it felt and ran like wind.

No, I'm very confident, also its Xiaomi goal to announce it before Xmas sales season begins to push A2 sales yet not as good as the A1's.
Besides Android Pie goodies, another improvement is to include Bluetooth LDAC support, and maybe improvements on camera.
We received the November security patch now, so i think we will be receiving pie in December only..... Thanks for your reply

too early this update, likely to see another update this month, this one very big with Pie.
As a new Xiaomi phone owner I have no idea what to expect. Do we get 2 year full support? Android Q and Android R?
They say one but do different.. because they make so much new phone,in their interest is to sell as more they can so.. you can be happy with one year support.. but hardware are so good and we have developer who give new lives to this phones when Xaomi stop supporting us.

? That don't sound so good. I assumed that 2 years was to expect, but I after buying this phone remembered that 2 years are, most likely, only for flagship phones. I hope We will see at least 1 year.
i also hope so. I only know that we will for sure get MUIU 11 and Android Q.. maybe
The good news is that this phone has sold really well, which increases the chances for good custom ROM support after Mi gives up on it.

Hopefully that's the case... Also a new Xiaomi owner here
judging from the previous iterations of xiaomi phone models, they only provide a single version upgrade to launch OS. you can expect that trend to continue.
but with the kernel code posted in github, this phone will be receiving XDA support for at least 5 years after xiaomi stops supporting it... given that the Redmi 1S is still being supported :good:
I usually use phone for about two years, but lately around 1 year (that is bad). I hope I can use this phone for atleast 2 years. Xiaomi phones have good development community, so phone can have support for longer.
