SM-G903F - can delete but not freeze system apps - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have android 6.0.1 marshmallow actually and I rooted my phone and my problem is that I can't free system apps I can only delete them completely. I can solve the problem by backing up the system app and then deleting it but want to know why I can't just simply freeze them.
I also tried using many apps to freeze the system apps but none of them works.
Also other functions like disabling receivers of apps don't work. Things like xposed framework and it's modules work without problems but why I can't freeze system apps or change receivers ???

Titanium backup is one of the apps I tried and it also didn't work. When I freeze an app it shows me that it is freezed but when I restart titanium backup the app is normal again. This happens with all apps that can freeze other apps

[Q] Deleting Apps?

how do i uninstall/delete apps that i can't uninstall/delete in manage apps in setting?
You can use titanium backup for that but most people will recommend you freeze the app instead of delete it as some bloatware can be tied into the framework and cause issues once removed

Yep. This requires root access though. Plenty of guides on the forum.

[Q] How to uninstall not installed apps from Market list?

After trying several ROMs, seems each one installs their own sets of apps that get listed under the Not Installed portion of the Market. Been trying several ways to uninstall these apps that are not installed to no avail. Did a search of the forum and tried Titanium Backup or reinstalling the app then uninstall them. Neither method works. These apps seems to be ones that the original developer of the ROM specifically wanted. Any other ways to remove these apps that are listed under the Not Installed from the Market?

Well I tried Titanium Backup Pro and it didn't work. Not sure if I used the right settings but I couldn't see the offending apps listed in the Backup/Restore list that are found in the Market under Not Installed.

[WORKAROUND] Can't defrost frozen apps with titanium backup on KL7

Took me some time to find a solution, a lot of googling,
eventually I found this magic post
And I thought it deserves a better spotlight.
1. Copy /data/system/packages.xml to your PC. (or edit it somehow...)
2. Edit it, find the line with your app name that looks something like :
Code:
<package name="com.sec.android.app.samsungapps" codePath="/data/app/com.sec.android.app.samsungapps-1.apk" nativeLibraryPath="/data/data/com.sec.android.app.samsungapps/lib" flags="1" ft="134880eb380" it="11b7e237e00" ut="134880eb753" version="26114" userId="10039" enabled="false">
3. This line freezes samsung apps, which I wanted to desfrost to make S-Choice work. Change the false, to true > Save.
4. Copy the file back to the phone.
5. Contact titanium backup author and report this bug.
Reboot, Enjoy.
PS - I did not find the solution myself, I am just making a solution found by olympicchicken More readable and searchable.
I too have been having the problem with not being able to unfreeze system apps. What worked for me is to uninstall the frozen app from within Titanium BU (be sure to have a backup before uninstalling). Then just reboot and was able to restore the app through Titanium BU.
Don't know if it made any difference but I had done the app backup in Titanium before I froze it in the first place.

I didn't backup any of the system apps I froze before freezing, hence if I would have deleted them, I would have been deleting the only apk copy i had of them.
Could somebody please check their /data/system/packages.xml for the line referencing "com.sec.android.app.controlpanel" (Task Manager) and post this entire line for me?
I've stupidly uninstalled it and TB can't restore it from backup as the line is missing.
Cheers.

Even if you have an app frozen you can still select backup. Then uninstall the app, reboot, and restore the app.

That didn't work as TB just hangs when trying to restore. I don't have a nandroid backup so if someone can post that line then I can at least fix it manually.
A simpler way to locate the particular line is by searching for "false" will keep showing all the frozen apps ) much faster too
I can confirm the uninstall and restore method worked for me..
I had frozen all three samsung app services(app, account, una) and I wanted to unfreeze them because of the free Dead Space and Modern Combat offers and I couldn't unfreeze them..
So as they were already frozen I made a back up of them, uninstalled them, reboot and restore them.. Worked like a charm..
Thanks guys.
I also try to contact the TITANIUM BACKUP developer informing about this bug... but not update avaible for the moment!
The file-edit method did not work for me. However, the uninstall/restore did. You have to convert system apps to user apps to backup them first, but it's quick and easy.
Possible solution
Hi guys,
Check out this test version of TB and try the "power defrost" feature in Batch menu. Hopefully it will help

Best bloatware remover for a rooted SM-G935T?

Hello mates, I am new to XDA and first and foremost I want thank to thank all contributors and developers for providing amazing tricks, tutorials, and features for all device users.
I own an S7 Edge under T-Mobile carrier (SM-G935T) and last time I tried to remove bloatware/system apps using Titanium Backup I believe I deleted necessary system apps that I shouldn't have deleted.
So my question for you guys is:
What app should I use or which app is the BEST out there that will help me disable ALL UNNECESSARY BLOATWARE without messing up the phone? I've heard of System App Remover Pro, Titanium Backup... but I don't know if Titanium itself would do the work. (I believe I could if I could get a list of Bloatware that can be removed with no problem)
Thank you guys, any help will be appreciated.
Just Google what each package does and then use titanium to freeze/uninstall them
If it sounds important then it most likely is

Honestly, I'd stay away from something as invasive as Titanium backup these days. If you do use it use the freeze feature (Only paid version).
They way I did it, I simply went into App Manager and disable natively anything that I could. For system Apps that won't allow me to disable that I know I can safely disable without screwing things up (not very many anymore) I use Package Disabler Pro from the Play Store. You can safely enable and disable system Apps.
Best way to get rid of bloat is install the u firmware.

Don't bother uninstalling system app bloats, just freeze with titanium backup. if you screwed up and froze the wrong file you can always unfreeze. Uninstalling won't get you any extra storage since you can't install user apps in the system partition anyways.

Titanium backup is a nice way to go, but you need root.
I have seen Remove ALL Bloatware from any Android Smartphone without Root
ADB for Windows is a nice way to start.
You can google that as well.
I want to remove the bloat myself, but I am wait for 7 to drop then start cleaning house.
Good luck to ya! :good:

Well yes of course, the OP requested best remover for rooted S7E. If not rooted, the recommendation would have been for EZ Package Disabler or equivalent.

[Ask]Can't freeze app

Hello ,
1.My x720 v20s already rooted , why can't freeze app , i try several apps , everything not work all ?
2.i use es explorer app latest , why can't move file from internal memory to external memory via otg ?

Try titanium backup. You can only freeze apps with TB with the donation package. Worth it imo.

As mentioned, titanium backup is a most have app for debloating but other "free apps" that works just as well without a donation package would be system remover (root)
Just uninstall amy apps you dont wish to have/keep and simply reboot.
