As quoted on their v2.0 update,
What's New
v2.0 (rolling out)
Greenify now works on non-root devices! Try out the non-root working mode (without automatic hibernation due to privilege restriction).
Shortcut "Hibernate All" can now be created also from main menu in Greenify.
Greatly improved the stability of auto-hibernation service, especially on Android 4.4+.
Bugfixes.

Now if only they can get TiBu to work without root, I'd no longer have a reason to root my device..
Let me decide which apps / carrier bloat I want on my device (read: none of it).
Seems like I still can't hibernate some apps. I can't get it to work.

Excellent but you need to close apps

Automatic hibernation, automatically hibernate apps that you manually set to hibernate?
Oh yeah, guys, they are still rolling out the v2.0, I still have 1.99 so it still doesn't work.

automatically hibernate what I already manually hibernated? I am sure that there is something missing
or do you mean that it will re-hibernate the apps after opening them or restarting the device?

Yes, it will re-hibernate the apps after opening or after using them. BUT auto-hibernation doesn't work with non-rooted phones.
Still waiting for the v2.00
Totally unusable without rooting.

Only useful to stop battery drain if you know u will be without a charger four a long number of hours.
Otherwise more hassle than its worth.
What does the paid version give you? And is it worth it.

Mine is working and my Z1 is not rooted, it just ask to force stop the application first, then it will hibernate the app. Check it again.

Well, if you have any unwanted apps that runs on the background and eats the juice of your battery, greenify will put them to sleep.

My point is that it's more hassle to do all the force closing than recharging more frequently.
The only time it's really helpful is if u will be without a charger for a really really long time and you have no choice but to slow down battery drain.
I have root and Paid Greenify, my Battery is amazing and Paid Version adds nice Features.

Paid is awesome - hibernated AND still get push notifications.
Best app for saving battery

Once all apps are force closed by the app... The drain is almost zero.
There is an option to automate it

There is an option to automate it (for non rooted). You still have to select the "hibernate now" manually but it will then automatically force close all the apps selected by you for greenifying..I have had this since about 3 months or so. It works only on my Xperia Z1 but not on my Galaxy Tab (GT-P3113) (which is on 4.2.2)

Yes.
I use it frequently now.
That's a pretty useful add-on. It's turned a useless app into a useful one.
Hey everyone! Quick question, I've read many times that "Package Disabler Pro" is the best app to disable all the bloatware.
But I have also read that if you disable all of them or use the "Disable all Bloatware" selection in the app, it causes issues with other apps and services such as samsung say and amongst others.
Can anyone help on this issue? Or is there a solution out there... saying which to disable and which not to?
Any help would be awesome! Thanks!
This is too complex question and next, some packages depends on another. E.g. you can disable ANT+ but you need it if you have a sport watch.
Generally, do not dollow colors in the application. I've found some ping packages which could be important (ANT+).
It depends on your needs/using habits, but there is some that can be disable almost always, yet still there is cases where you may need it.
Few examples:
- you can disable email application and its services since you can (and probably should unless something very specific) use Gmail instead of it (you can set up non-gmail account in Gmail app), so feel free to disable this.
-Google play movies/music/newstand/books - if you dont use these disable them.
-Galaxy apps and its services - i dont see point for this app, only uses are - for getting offers (so claim them before disabling) and galaxy care... any apps you can get on play store, so egt the offers from Galaxy apps and turn it ands its services off.
-Gear VR services - if you dont have Gear VR headset then there is no use for these services and if you get Gear VR afterwards you can just enable those services, its fast and easy.
-SHealth and its service - dont use it? feel free to disable it.
- i dont use Samsung account and its backup options (since you have same functions from google) so if you dont also, feel free to disable it and its related services.
and there is A LOT more, and it all depends on what you want/will use! BUT remember, its very simple and fast to enable them even if you disabled them, with no harm done.
Carefully Checked Before Disabling, but Galaxy S7 Keeps Rebooting
I have carefully checked everything I disabled before doing it, but now my Galaxy S7 keeps rebooting, although not always with the same results. The fact that there's no information about numerous items preloaded on this phone is totally unhelpful!
How does this app work, since it doesn't require root? And is there any chance it will trip the Knox counter on an unrooted phone? I'm very interested in it, but I don't want to lose my tap and pay or my warranty (yet).
I have posted here my extensive list of disabled packages, with no ill effects that I know of:

I have doubt about these:
com.sec.android.widgetapp.samsungapps (maybe Always on Display items are in Widget ? maybe, just I guess)
com.samsung.android.app.galaxyfinder (It's not about this problem but I advice enable it. This is search bar in the menu.)
com.samsung.android.app.aodservice ( edited and solved: This is Always On Display "AOD")
com.sec.factory
com.samsung.android.firmware.tsp
com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager (maybe about watch)
com.samsung.android.sm
and I see you disabled too many useful app like "Wallpaper Cropper, Galaxy Finder". Why you disable these ?
Just try it first what I wrote and check again for Always On Display

Thnx a lot, I will try this out right now, many of these packages were disabled from an xlm file I found, but some were disabled by me, most of the "useful" apps are disabled cause theres something else replacing that function already, I use quickpik for gallery and cropping, nova launcher for launcher, galaxy finder I have no idea what it does, but I've had tons of other brands and never needed anything from motorola, htc or LG, I guess I like to stick with a pure android experience, thank you for your help !

Yeah, I see on my Sony Xperia phone that has a custom ROM that there's an option on lockscreen and security that allows you to choose how long does it take for the phone to lock, not sleep but lock, in seconds, like "5 seconds after screen turns off" or "immediately after screen turns off" etc.....on my S7 it just takes forever and I can't find a similar option, sometimes I turn off the screen and after a few minutes I turn it on and it still has locked, sometimes it does it immediately, could there be a workaround ?

I am using tasker but it says data not available try secure settings, which I have. Also I can set a GPS toggle but when trying to use it it does nothing.
Could be an issue with secure settings app. Couldn't tell you since I have chosen not to root for now. My main reason for rooting other phones was to tame the bloat. With the exception of GPS on and off with certain apps, tasker works just fine for the functions I want so secure settings is not a must have.
What tasks do you have running? Sorry I've rooted many phones but I'm a noob to tasker.
I have a variety running such as wifi at home, rotation and custom brightness on or off based off apps, and custom alarms dependent upon calendar entries, day of the week and times. The thing with tasker is that with root and the right third party apps, the things you can do are too numerous to list. Just read up on it and come up with things you want your phone to do. Then read some more so you can set up profiles to do this things. I will admit that if you are new to tasker and do not have programming background, it seems daunting. However, once I got into it was fun and I can't up with new ideas. Once it is setup with the profiles you want, you can sit back as your phone will be automated.

I actually do have some programming background which is what drew me to tasker. I currently have one profile set up for home which automates my wifi on. I was hoping for GPS and data off, at said locatio, but no biggie. I'll keep playing around and create more profiles. I'm just glad it was the app not me that was the problem. One last thing is there an xposed app or some way tasker can set auto brightness? That's the one thing I miss from previous phones.

Make sure that system+ in enabled in the Secure Settings app. gps off/on should work fine, but for data on/off you have to make a task that has about 2 or 3 seperate actions. I can help with that if you'd like, as i have data off/on when i connect/disconnect from wifi. what are you trying to set auto brightness on during? like a time of the day or when you use a certain app?

So I made a task and called it Data off. you'll want to Add>Net>Test Net. Type=Mobile Data Enabled, Store Result in=%Data. Second action will be Code>Run Shell, command=svc data disable, if=%Data~yes. Third action will b e variable>variable clear, name=%Data.
Next you'll make a task called Data On. First action is Add>Net>Test Net. Type=Mobile Data Enabled, Store Result in=%Data. Second action will be Code>Run Shell, command=svc data enable, if=%Data~No. Third action will b e variable>variable clear, name=%Data.
Now you make a new profile that becomes active with the wifi connected state. set that to trigger the Data off task, and add select data on as your exit task.
This may seem a bit of a roundabout way to do things, but i think since LL, android no longer allows any third party app or plug in to toggle the data. so the way around that is through the shell commands. Hope this helps!

It works fine that way.

Hi,
I really don't understand how the doze system works on android marshmallow. I mean, it kills apps that I need, and leaves on apps that I need killed. I have done all the battery optimization exceptions from settings->apps, I have excluded and included in the keep alive after screen lock option in battery manager, nothing is working how it should be.
I want apps like Tasker and Automate It to work when i close the screen, but even if I exclude them from all things that could kill them, they work for only about 2 minutes and then bye bye.
Is there a setting I missed, or maybe an app that keeps them alive, or maybe some root underground terminal emulator magic I can do to fix this issue?
Thanks in advance.

It's not Doze that sucks so much, it's EMUI's power management. It's overly aggressive in killing apps.

You're probably right, even though they fixed this in EMUI 5.0, but I don't like Nougat because it has an annoying bug, so maybe there's a fix to this for MM. I'll try to write to them too.

At random times, my screen won't turn on when I unlock it. I can hear the unlock sound, receive phone calls and probably use all other phone functions, but my screen stays black. I have to force-restart the phone in order for the screen to work again. It probably is a problem with my phone, but I'm too lazy to send it to warranty.
So, this occured after I've rooted my phone, after installing SD Maid, and Titanium Backup to be specific. I've noticed that my phone keeps turning on my screen no matter what. Can someone help me?!

2nd - 05:41

P.S. There was one time where it bypassed the lockscreen (fingerprint+pin) and went to my home screen!

Ok, now it's not doing it anymore. I hope it's not a virus or something, all I done was uninstall enable doze for gms, but I still don't think that's the cause. Could it be a side effect of magisk 17?
