Hi Guys,
With the Android 4.3 update coming soon(btw i am from South Africa), i want to be able to update my phone.
My phone is rooted with no custom roms or kernels. I searched the web for the unroot "method" and it seems pretty simple to do it.
Most of the guides that i looked at(including the Xda one), does offer the South African firmware.
However when i went to look at the Baseband and CSC "code", i saw that it differed slightly.
Example : I9500XXUAMDE
Mine : I9500XXUAMDK
Should I be concerned about this and can I continue even though it differs?
(In other words will it be safe?)
Any help would be gladly appreciated
Thanks
Hi, can I use any country firmware on a factory unlocked international version Note 3?
I rooted since last November, with no issues since then, but yesterday I noticed that root access was not working anymore. I'm on JB 4.3 now and maybe I will upgrade to KitKat 4.4, if this is possible, since the phone is for Nigeria and there is no update yet for that country.
Model SM-N900
Baseband N900XXUCMK1
Kernel 3.4 39-2217357
Build JSS15J.N900XXUCMK2
Thank you for your help!
I would think so, just have to make sure the baseband is compatible with your provider.
ODIN flash the KKrom of your choice. As stated by hey_joe, just make sure you cn use the basebands with your carrier...

In theory you can but (no matter ignorant people say) if you look around here this forum is full of people that soft-bricked their phones with strange upgrades - most notably updates of Note 3 phones for Hong-Kong and Nordic EU countries using the XEO first KitKat ROM.
Thank you for your replies, I'm trying to do it with the stock firmware, actually I'm on stock right now, I'm OK with stock Rom, whatever I want to change is accomplished thru Xpose Framework.

There is this new rooting tool [Towelroot] that works perfectly, you may try it, it does not need PC connection and its free. https://towelroot.com/

Hi mate ,
phone info is a great app...the link you posted is for the official stock rom for the I9505 ( UK) , 100% original , if you flash it you will be back to stock ( recovery and firmware) , the only thing it will not be reset will be the knox bit ( warranty) if you flash a custom recovery or custom rom the knox bit will be set , if you rooted with towelroot it will not be set
Hi, i need help choosing a good modem. I am currently using my samsung s4 on the o2 uk network. I dont know much about the right modem.
But how can i find the latest modem that is designed to operate on a uk network?
any help is much appreciated.
What's wrong with the modem firmware that is currently on your S4?
Under ordinary circumstances the modem firmware is only changed when the ROM itself is changed. For example, an OTA update to go from Android 4.4.2 to Android 5.0.1 would include a new modem designed for Android 5.0.1. The only time the modem firmware may need to be changed outside of an OTA update is if the device is rooted and the user is installing a custom Android 5.x ROM. This is because custom ROMs do not include updated modem firmware or bootloaders. In that case the modem would be updated manually using the Odin software.

thanks for responding,
Before i flashed my phone to a custom rom the signal i received was very good. however, since i have flashed a few roms along with their matching baseband i have noticed that the signal is not as good as it was before the phone was flashed.
i can only assume that i have changed a baseband to one of which is not suited to the uk networks, if that is a possibilty. i was wondering which baseband would be best suited for a uk network?
that is if not using the correct baseband can cause signal issues?
The correct baseband for your device should be I9505XXUHOB7. If that isn't what you're running you can download it from the baseband thread in S4 General and flash it through Odin. If you're running something later than that though, I wouldn't bother changing it. For example, my I9505 was originally on O2 before being unlocked, and it's using a later baseband, I9505XXUHOF2, which happens to be from the unbranded German ROM. I'm having no issues using it on Straight Talk here in the United States.
While updating the baseband can help, you might also want to investigate whether the ROM itself might actually be the source of your signal woes.

Im currently running the 4.4.2 XXUGNK4 goldeneye rom. would it still be ok if i went ahead and flashed the I9505XXUHOB7 along with it considering that is a lollipop version of the baseband?
In that case you'd want to get the latest Android 4.4.2 baseband possible from the aforementioned thread and install that. You'd cause more problems if you tried using the HOB7 baseband while still using an Android 4.4.2 bootloader.

thanks , ill try that now.
a little of topic is it possible to flash a lollipop bootloader and then revert back to a bootloader designed for the 4.4.2 kitkat roms?
You'd have to try it and find out. I do believe it's possible since Knox is in both bootloaders, but I haven't had a reason to test it.
Hello ,All
i am new to this experience and need help here.
I have recently flashed S6 PORT by Albe95 over my Galaxy S4 ,baseband V # I337MVLUEMK6 (Fido). Every are allright except could not endable LTE .after input all infos requires it allways got message the current profile is blocked .what should ido?
thx
Have you tried updating the baseband?
No.and how to do it?
The simplest way would be to flash the latest stock ROM from sammobile.com, then install TWRP, then flash the ROM.
Ok thank .will try
I am having a similar problem. Ever since I upgraded to Goldeneye my LTE coverage is not as good as it had been.
Does this sound like a baseband issue? Would appreciate guidance on how to check that?
It could be a baseband issue. How was signal quality on a stock rom? If it was fine, it sounds like it is a rom issue.
You may also want to try upgrading to the newest bootloader and modem too. Update options for the i337 and i337m will vary.
