International Roaming with AT&T - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
This is the first time I am running into this problem, and I can't to figure it out. I am from United States and I travel internationally to China or Europe. Last trip to China, I noticed I can't roam. I am currently with AT&T. When i was with Verizon, right when I turn on my phone, I get a text message saying how much it cost for roaming, but with AT&T, I don't even have signal. What am I missing here? Anyone else have the same experience as I? Thanks in advance!!

[Q] T-Mobile USA International Calling/Text?

Hey folks,
I'm currently on vacation in Spain and thought that my DVP would automatically start roaming when I got over here. Not the case. So I just signed up for T-Mobile's "Worldclass International Service". Still not getting any signal. Am I too late? Was I suppose to do this before I left the U.S.? Currently using GoVoice on any Wi-Fi I find here, but it would be nice to be able to actually call/text in case of an emergency. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks!
Perhaps your number has not been unlocked for international roaming. Call TMobile's international customer care # (i think it is 505-998-3793) to unlock your line.
I'm guessing it's just a time lag before your international service turns on. Beware the roaming rates for data. I've racked up $500 a week in some countries. scandinavia has been the worst for me.
I work in europe regularly and just sold my TMo locked DVP and bought the unlocked model. I'm going to use locally sold sim cards in europe. it's the cheapest for data, in my experience. I rarely download video so I only use about 20mb a week.
This was most likely caused by a certain delay, it may have been a shock to your phone, just wait it out, if not it had already been fixed.

Bell LTE scarborough

Hi, I recently bought a galaxy S4 from bell. I live in the scarborough area and I haven't been able to catch a LTE signal once in the last 2 weeks even though they say they have good coverage. I have called customer service and they have said that my plan and sim are lte compatible and I have the correct APN set.
I am getting worried that there might be something wrong with the phone. Is there anyone here who knows confirmed areas/spots where they are able to get an LTE connection? I would love to go there and check it out to confirm whether its a problem with my phone or not.

So...what's the skinny on CDMA/GSM S5's? I need help urgently!!!

Hey gang,
I'm not as tech savvy as I used to be. Long story short, my fiancee and I got "baited and switched" into switching to Sprint (from ATT and Tmo, respectively). As it turns out, we get NO reception almost ANYWHERE around our home. My dB is normally 105-120 at home, and I use my cell as my business phone. It's cost me a lot of money.
I've tried fruitlessly to get the devices returned, but they just soak up time and give us the run-around. I'm very close to trying to sue for breech of contract or similar, not having the services we were told we would have.
Anyway...I know Sprint is CDMA. Is this S5 a tri-band phone? In other words, can I pop a Tmo SIM into it and use it with a prepaid Tmo SIM, assuming I root and rom?
Here's the info on the model and frequencies...

Someone please help. I'm being forced to buy a SIM from another carrier and carry around 2 phones, just so I always have one that works.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] European Note 3 in Canada?

Hi all!
I'm going on a 2 month trip to Canada. I'm starting out in the Ontario area and will then decide on where to go exactly.. I've got a european Note 3 (from Switzerland where I live) and I want to know, if I can get any 3G or 4G connectivity?
Additionally, what provider do you recommend? I'm searching for a pre-paid one for simple telephony and texting, but it would be nice if some data usage is included.
Can any Canadians help me out here? I'd love to use my phablet there aswell, not only in Wifi areas

I'm pretty sure your european note 3 is region locked. You must unlock your phone to get it working in Canada. I would recommend Chatr for pay per use $20 u get unlimited calls and text. Here take a look http://www.chatrwireless.com/web/content/payperuse

The region lock is deactivated after you make 5 minutes of calls on it. for the specific procedure, google.

Taking my Verizon HTC 10 to Asia

Hi everyone, I have a bone stock Verizon HTC 10 on a grandfathered unlimited data plan.
This is going to be my first trip outside of the US, I'm going to Southeast Asia and I was, originally, looking at the Verizon TravelPass plan, but it is only for newer plans, not for the grandfathered plans. So now I am looking into swapping out to a local SIM, but I'm not sure I understand everything. Does it matter which carrier I use? GSM or CDMA? Since it's a World Phone, I'm assuming that it has all the bands covered. Besides having a different phone number, are there any other drawbacks?
What do you guys think about using the Wi-Fi in that part of the world. I get leery about even using the Hotels Wi-Fi. LOL
Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
ditto - i'll be going to London for about 6 months. I have the verizon htc 10 (sunshined - don't think that matters for this?). i'm assuming i can take out that verizon sim and put in a vodafone (unless someone has some suggestions of other carriers) sim and it will work seamlessly.
any help for me and my new OP friend going to Asia would be cool ... tia !

I used my Verizon 10 in Japan mostly without issues with a local data sim card. Look at possible sim providers where you're going and see what bands they use, and see if your phone supports those. The VZW 10 has a couple of bands disabled compared to the unlocked 10. Just make sure you change your network settings from CDMA to Global.
No drawbacks in using your phone abroad. Depending on if you get a data only sim card and which provider you use there, you might experience some additional battery drain. I experienced this mostly in Japan, but it Singapore and Thailand as well with my M7.
Safety wise I would say using public wifi in SEA has the same risk as using public wifi in the states.
Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it.
