Hi all, new to android so please bear with me. Been with ios since 3gs and fancied a change, bought myself a Galaxy s7 edge and loving it so far. Couple of niggles though that I'm hoping someone can help me with
1, bought the phone unlocked from eBay. When the phone boots up it shows Three network logo. Can this be removed?
2, I am with EE and they support WiFi calling. But I am unable to select this as it's not listed under settings. Do you think this is because the phone was first on Three network? Anyway around it?
3,Rooting, any info on this is greatly appreciated. Was always jailbroken on ios and am keen to learn the rooting ropes. Read a bit about it. Tripping knox is my main concern. Is it possible to root without doing this at the moment? And what issues may I have if I do trip knox? Should I be concerned? Obviously apart from it invalidating my warranty. Sorry for the long post. Look forward to hearing your replies ?

Welcome to android,
you could start here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/recovery-official-twrp-hero2lte-3-0-0-0-t3334084
Once rooted, you should be able to remove the boot animation , i replaced mine with stock.
Thanks @soka, anybody have anymore info for me. Ideally I'd like to fix all these without rooting until I can get my head around tripping knox and stuff.

1. Yes, you can flash an firmware using Odin
2. You can flash the EE Network firmware for your device
3. Rooting without triping knox is not possible. If you root your phone, samsung pay wont work and you may lose your warranty
Edit1: Here is the EVR Firmware http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G935F/EVR/
Well I'm rooted.... Well at least I think I am. How do. I tell? I'm. Just downloading the EE firmware now and will attempt to install that. See if it cures my problems. Thank you for your help guys. And after I've installed this firmware can i turn USB debugging off and the other thing I turned on? Or do they need to stay on?

Just install TWRP and then the SuperSu Beta package
Supersu wasny selected as enabled. Done that and all is good. Anybody have any other ideas how I can get WiFi calling on my device?
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
I take it that there is no other way for me to do this now then? From. What I've read if I bought the device from EE I would be able to use it so there's some sort of firmware that they load on. Is there any way I can get my hands on that? And while I'm here my device doesn't automatically ask to join networks. Like my iPhone did. Think I've been through every setting I can find but can't see a toggle. For switching it on. Any help On both much appreciated

BTU firmware also contains EE wifi calling as well now. Goto:
Call, more, settings, scroll down to bottom, tick wifi calling

Go to sammobile and download the firmware from here
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/69491/G935FXXU1APD3_G935FBTU1APD3_BTU/
Follow the instructions on downloading odin and flashing the firmware.
I used the BTU firmware to flash over Vodafone firmware to give me EE wifi calling.
WiFi calling needs to be activated on the EE side of your account.then it will show up in settings.
Give EE a call.
I'm on xeu software and it shows up for me.

I'm in Australia, and i'm pretty sure we're the last lot of Note 3 owners to get the 4.4.2 update.
Is there an OTA that we can use to update to 4.4.2?
Currently on 4.3 still MJ7.

You could flash any of the 4.4.2 firmwares available via Odin. Depends how you feel about tripping the Knox counter.
I'm in Australia as well and after my s3 I knew we would be one of the last to get any updates so I just went straight to 4.4.2 via odin.

If he allways install a new oficial version from odin it will never trip Knox counter, i´ve done it myself, i´m using a version from the Netherlands. it will change your csc though...
Also from Aus here. Gave up waiting officially as of yesterday and installed the UK (BTU CSC) firmware via ODIN with no issues at all. I didn't need to wipe my data, it all just worked as though it was a standard upgrade.
Next time I will just import one. Especially with trigger-happy KNOX I couldn't be bothered worrying about whether my Aus warranty is intact (I pad $300 "Aus tax" to buy it local vs import - not worth it). I doubt I tripped my Knox flag as it's an official unmodified first party firmware from Samsung that I installed..

So it didn't wipe apps or anything? Did it install any other boot logo? Or other provider bloatware? Or is it a plain stock Samsung UK firmware? Can you roll it back later?

When flashing other regions firmware, sometimes it comes with the additional bloatware from the region. It's normal.
You can just disable the bloatware from apps manager.
If u tired waiting and wanna try kk, just give it a shot.
Once ur region comes with kk, u can always flash back from odin.

From what I remember I don't really notice a difference in boot logo. But then again, I've always had the unbranded XSA version. If you have a branded version, it will likely revert your boot logo to an unbranded version which may/may not be desirable to you.
Hello guys!
In the past, I faced some similar problems with my Galaxy S3 because I was a mad ROMs tester, so one time the baseband messed up with me and I lost all the network abilities, but I managed to deal with that..
Today it's my dad's issue, he likes to keep everything on stock, but rooted...
So he updated his I9505 to the latest Lollipop version, then he rooted it..
Today he told me that he can't make or receive ANY calls or SMSs, but the mobile data is still working as it should.
He can't remember if the problem started before or after updating.. So I tried the following:
• Did a factory reset.
• flashed a clean 4 files firmware through ODIN.
• took the SIM away and tested it on another devices, it works fine.
• Downgraded to KitKat and flashed the proper modem and bootloader.
Nothing helped [emoji17][emoji17]
So I wish that you guys, can do your best to help me..
P.S. The IMEI serial number is fine ( no null/null or imilar errors ).

You can root by installing TWRP using ODIN.
Updated my phone (which is not on Sprint Network as I live outside US) and must say, I'm quite impressed. There are no noticible UI changes but the system feels more snappier than before. I guess the Doze settings have been worked too because of which battery life has improved a tad bit.
Anyone know what Sprint meant by "Resolution to lock screen production issue"?

Hot-spot mods of previous builds will not work. If you want, you can use pdanet or FoxiFi for it (no need of a rooted phone).
For Xposed, you can flash the zip available on XDA but you will require root for it.
PG1 source code isnt out, so developers will be behind still.

I was recently thinking to myself to flash Samsung's international firmware on my G935V. The phone's battery is terrible even in airplane mode and I think going to a non bloated ROM would be generally better. I did once have the international firmware but my phones screen started going weird and I flashed it back to the original. Of course it turned out to be a hardware issue and I got it replaced under warranty. Because this happened a day after I flashed the international firmware, I'm scared something similar might happen again. Do any of you guys run the international firmware on a daily basis on your Verizon edges? I was just wondering if it will be practical at all. Also for the one day I had the international firmware, the battery was definitely better without Verizon's crap on it. What do you guys think?

So what would happen if I tried flashing it through Odin like the old way?
Being on the U firmware the first time was great, but over time it's degraded for new. I'm only getting up to 2 hours of SOT by 50%, as opposed to 3. Not rooted either.
I'm thinking of going to do the PG5 Verizon firmware to see how things are.
Unfortunately it won't flash. The new bootloader will block what would potentionally be an older revision or a downgrade. Currently the u firmware bootloader is Rev. 2. Verizon managed to jump to Rev. 4 with its last update potentially screwing all stock users out of using a stock unlocked debloated firmware with free tethering.

I just flashed the new 935U version this morning to my verizon variant. I was getting sub-par battery life on the verizon software so I am going to try this out for a bit. Keeping it unrooted the only thing I can't install is verizon visual voicemail. I have voLTE working but there is no option for wifi or video calling as with the verizon version. Seems to be much faster overall though.
Been using U firmware since June and no issues. Have already gone through 2 updates on U without problems.

On my S7 edge,i have flashed between all the different roms but since my HD Voice,Wi-Fi Calling, and VoLTE (All very important features for me) don't work, I reverted to my stock rom. the carrier aggregation says "CA-not configured 00" and was getting 50% worse speeds than my two year old iPad Air 2. I have ran it on many different cell towers which I know have the Carrier aggregation enabled but it sill wouldn't connect.
It may have gotten disabled somehow. CA can be enabled/disabled in the Service Menus

It seems that the code to get there has been disabled in 7.0
AT&T variant had a code on MM that you type into the dialer to being up one of the Service Menus. The code for the Verizon variant is *#27663368378# and can be accessed after root & modification to one of the carrier files for Hidden Menus.
I believe the code was *#197328640# but like I said they appear to be dead now.
Here are some screens that I took of my phone.

Oh ok, I remember messing with that in my S5. You wouldn't know how to get voLTE back on nougat by any chance? I came from the 935U firmware .

How do you change the files to accept the codes? If i flashed my phone to the verizon version and do this, would i lose the carrier aggregation once i flash back to att. my goal is to return the phone back to what it was prior to all the rom flashing because i plan to sell the phone on ebay so i can get the s8+
Sounds like you need to re-ODIN the firmware on your phone to trigger CA

so what your trying to say is that i should reodin the phone back to marshmellow to get the carrier aggregation? I have tried that already and it still wont work. I can access the servicemode on marshmallow but it says AS Infromation Common and it wont let me change anthing

In addition to re-ODINing the phone,I also flashed the Verizon firmware and rooted it to get the carrier aggregarion menu and when I put it back to the AT&T firmware,i still got the CA-Not Config 0 0 status in the servicemenu. On the tmobile firmware the 3x carrier aggregations work (I don't have another phone to see if AT&T CA works and I'm still waiting for my T-Mobile SIM to see if it's not the phone itself that's wrong)
