I just want to make sure I understand this correctly. The Nexus 6P doesn't have any type of fast charging built in to it. The phone will charge faster using a USB C to USB C cable because that type of cable is capable of delivering more charge to the phone. So essentially, as long as the cable is USB C at both ends, I should be able to rapid charge the phone using any USB C wall adapter or power and right?
The new wall adapter will have to have the same specifications as the original one. It's not only the cable, obviously.

See HERE. Obviously, select the 6P.
Be sure to read the notes at the bottom for exact specifications required.
Mine rapid charges in the car with an old iPad 2.1A rated usb charger. It doesn't actually say fast charging, but it gives a charge time estimate and it's definitely fast. Can go from 65 to full in a 25 minute drive. Amazing.
I use a USB adapter in the car and get "charging fast"

can i check with all bros using eee transformer is it possible to charge transformer through PC as i plug it in for more than 8 hours and it is still 60% but it went up when i put it to the asus usb adaptor to charge and if i were to use other commercial usb adaptor, it doesn;t charge again.
kindly advise. appriciate all input.
tf needs 15 volts, standard usb only provides 5 volts, hence no charge
bro trosenda, so i cannot charge through my pc?
what about commercial usb charger?
i thought they supply 15v also?
finally, is there a way to charge through PC?
I have my wifi policy set to sleep and my pc will charge my transformer, however it is very slow.
For a quick charge you need mains
bro straxusii, for main i have to use the usb adaptor that they supply? or any usb adaptor will do?
If you take a closer look inside the USB cable or adapter you'll see a set of extra pins behind the standard 4 USB pins. I presume these are used for charging the TF @15V. USB chargers output 5V.
The transformer does technically charge on any usb but only when the screen is off and even then at an extremely slow rate. With the screen on it wont even bother because the drain far exceeds the charge. 5v @ 1A max for your standard usb, 500mA on most laptop or pc usb ports, vs the transformer's native 15v @ 1.2A.
For main you will have to use the provided charger, its the most annoying part of the transformer right now.

this part i gotta agree with you bro. maybe in future they will come out with a usb charger which is capable of switching between 5v to 15v as and when we need. or just a usb charger for all sorts of things. maybe a 25v charger haha... might make things like iphone charge faster.
Hi,
I was wondering if using a 2A charger with a normal Micro USB cable will charge my Note 3 as fast as the same charger with a Micro USB 3.0 cable?
Considering that USB 3.0 only delivers a higher output compared to 2.0 when plugged into a PC, I guess it makes no difference when using wall chargers?
Am I right ?
Thanks in advance,
Ben
USB from a PC will always be less than a dedicated charger whether it is usb 2 or 3. A 2 amp charger is what I use but also pay attention to the lead as some are far better at handling higher currents than others as I found out trying various leads whilst running the app at https://play.google.com/store/apps...=organic&utm_term=galaxy+charging+current+apk

The phone detects if you are using a wall or usb charger, the second is considerably slower. Some usb chargers cheat to seem wall chargers so charges much faster.
What if I use a micro USB cable that is attached to a wall adapter plug, will it still charge fast on note 3?

Charging is not depend on USB 3.0 or 2.0, it acts differently only while transferring data. Otehrwise for charging both works similar.
The stock wall adapter has 2Amp output and I’ve a power bank with same output and the Power Bank provided with a short USB 2.0 cable and with both it takes same time to full charge. So no issues with the cable.
Are USB type C to USB A cables capable of fast charging? Or is USB type C to USB type C the only way of getting fast charging?
You can get somewhat fast charging on an A to C cable theoretically, up to 2.4A, however as USB Type A isn't rated at 3A you won't get the full speed of a true Type C fast charger. I found with many Type A 2.4A chargers though that none say fast charging, but that may just be because I'm using the cable that came with my 6P.
I bought this cable and plugged it into a USB 3.0 port on my pc. It delivers just as much juice as the stock charger. The two both charge at the same rate.
Updated. I'll add that USB 3.0 is capable of delivering up to 5 amps with the right cable.

I have the Play store Google cables and they won't rapid charge with my car rapid charger , but the Type-C to Type-C google cables will with same charger . So I'm thinking no but I don't have a AC rapid charger to confirm .

A USB 3.0 port on a PC can only deliver up to 900mAh. The stock charger is 3000mAh.

That is a big difference in mAh. It does rapid charge pretty fast though when plugged into my pc. It did not rapid charge with the cable Google provided though. I had to buy the joto which I showed above.

Does your phone say rapid charging? What does Ampere show as the rate of charge?
Before the car was broken into I had a Belkin 4 port charger and the A-C cord delivered fast charging just fine, the one it came with AND the third party cord I ended up using also, have a couple of Yoozon branded cords from Amazon
I have a-c cable, and tried charge it using a 2.0a power bank. It says charging rapidly. Is it save to charge this phone using power bank?

Yes. It says rapid charging. I'm not home now but will check what it says it charges at. I did grab a screen shot yesterday though. You can see by "USB debugging connected" that I am in fact plugged into my pc and it says rapid charging.
Connected to pc I get Max 1050 mAh. On stock charger I get 1850 mAh Max. So the stock charger will be about 40% quicker than USB 3.0. Guess one could just buy a USB C 3.1 pci card if they need it as fast as the stock charger

The stock charger is 3000mAh, so depending on how low your battery is (it charges at a higher amperage at a lower battery, and slower as it gets close to full), you would likely see 2500-3000mAh when charging a nearly empty battery, which would be 3x faster than a computer USB port. I'm not sure why it says charging rapidly though, that should only happen if it's above 2000mAh or so.

Maybe an extra pin being present tricks it(wild guess). I did notice the fluctuations in mAh and am glad to know that's normal . One thing I noticed in the app ampere is it said the port was capable of delivering 1800 so maybe it's just reporting wrong in marshmallow.
There are no many adapters on the market and I couldn't find original huawei adapter. Can I use a regular adapter (samsung 2A for example) with my Nexus?

Yes, but you must use a certified cable. Check Benson Leung's reviews on Amazon to find a good one or use the cable provided in the box.
However you can buy original charger from Google Store or a valid alternative from Amazon like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Charger-Type-..._1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1461623244&sr=1-1
If I understand correctly some articles USB A chargers doesn't support type-c power profile, so the phone will charge at a constant rate without lowering amperage to be gentle with the battery. Furthermore the quick charge is a very useful feature, so I suggest you to buy a compatible charger.
Absolutely. Just be aware that charging of the Nexus 6P/5X is limited to 1.5A over a proper USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable. With a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable and a Type-C charger, it charges at up to 3A (as it does with the official charger).
So if you're worried about speed of charging, you may want to get yourself a new USB Type-C charger, as a Type-A charger will take about twice as long! (a 3A USB Type-C charger takes about 90 minutes) Personally, I just have a USB Type-A charger by my bed, since it will definitely finish charging while I sleep. Then I keep the original charger in my work bag, in case I need to quickly recharge during the day!

I don't know if that's the case, but if it is, I'm not sure it matters. With the USB Type-C charger it's drawing 3A and then lowers as the battery gets full, but I don't know how low it gets. Whereas a USB Type-A charger will be drawing 1.5A maximum, so it may not even need to lower.
Any good USB type A charger that you can recommend?
I Have a good opinion about Samsung adaptive charger that my wife uses with her note edge.

I am partial to Anker brand chargers. I would suggest the PowerPort 2 (as I own a couple), it is capable of charging two devices at up to 2.4A each (while the Nexus 6P can only draw 1.5A, iPads can draw the full 2.4A because of their proprietary tech). But as you can see on the Anker website, they have a ton of different options!
Hello XDA members,
I would like to ask you if you know a if it is possible to charge my Nexus 6P with the usage of my USB 3.0 OTG Cable and a Male-to-Male classic USB 2.0 Cable ...
At the moment my phone is charging with 0.2A maximum, even with a 2A wall charger ...
The only working charger is my classic Nexus 6P TypeC-TypeC ..
Have a nice day,
George.
I don't know about the first part of your question regarding the OTG cable, but can say that any compliant USB-A cable is limited to 2.4A in the absolute best of conditions. You may find an answer in the Accessories sub-forum where most of the charger and cable discussions are.
When you say your phone is charging at 0.2A using a 2A wall charger, that may be normal. Are you measuring the input current when the battery is completely dead, or closer to full? The phone itself limits the charging current by it's built-in charging profile, so it will only accept full charging from 0-40% then taper off to zero as it approaches being fully charged. See the 6P charging graph. Even with the stock USB-C to USB-C 3A charger, you're only getting less than 0.2A amp during the last 10% of charging. Not only that, but the phone keeps accepting even less current for almost an hour past 100%.
Here's a solution for my problem, first let me you clear the problem/ my case:
I want to use my Nexus 6P as a Android desktop computer.
I already found a way to charge and use multiple USB devices (using a USB hub)
for more info check out General Section I have posted a guide so you can do it too.
I also bought a chromecast because sadly we cannot use HDMI, there is no DisplayPort on our Nexus 6P.
Everything were working perfectly except the fact that my phone was discharging, while actually charging with a 2.0A USB 2.0 wall charger.
Here is the solution:
FInd a way to power up a 16V case fan (those fans that are a inside your desktop case) and make a stand for your phone, COOL YOUR SNAPDRAGON BABY!
Phone is still charging slowly, while the temperature is at 24Celsius stabilised!
Have a nice day,
Have fun with this it is suuuper cool gadget-like creation if you consider doing it too,
George.
