Internal storage errors - ideas?? - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

All,
I'm getting errors with my Moto, I have a 16g (I know, I know). It shows 12.29 used of 16g. I have a 32g card I've tried as internal storage and external storage. When I try and use the camera, I get an error about there not being enough storage. When I try and run S Health, I get the same error. What am I missing? There's plenty of room, especially when I use the SD as internal, but there should be plenty of room without doing that, right?
I also just got a message, "Your device storage is temporarily unavailable". Whaaaaaaaa?
Thanks

I would like to know some answers to this as well.

Humm sounds like internal memory is failing to me... try a different sd card though it might have some issue with it...

I agree with trying another SD card first. Your current card may not be playing well with the phone. If that doesn't work, warranty the phone.
I have a 16GB too. Not a big deal. Since I don't game on my phone except for a few casual ones, the size is more than sufficient.

Trouble with 2GB Card

Hey everyone.
I seem to be having a problem with my 2GB flash card in my 8125.
For some reason, it is only showing 944mb total memory.
This is a 2GB Card.
It used to show the full 2GB, now it doesn't. I did reformat with WM5torage (through windows). Any other idea's?
By any chance when you were reformatting with WM5storage did you partition the card? If you did, that would be the reason, your phones only reading the first partition.
No, it showed 900mb Before I formatted. It used to show the full 2gb, then eventually it just kept going down in "free space" until it hit zero.
Then I just plugged it into windows with WM5torage, and hit format (in windows). It let me format only 944mb.
Hmm sounds like you may have a bad card then. Try putting it in a card reader and see if it still reads the same way. If it does, then it's probably time to get a new card.
The memory card reader doesn't even want to read it!
Oh well, I do love that sams club return policy ^_^
I'll head over now and get another one.

Problem with internal memory - faulty phone only 2 weeks old

Hi
Well i have been getting the following faults since yesterday evening
1, Get notification that SD card was removed unexpectedly - then it loads again. when it says sd card it implies the internal memory - since while it is loading apps installed on internal memory are greyed out.
2, Sometime i get notification saying damaged sd card - when i click on it it tells me to format internal storage. Sometime restarting the phone restores everything yet other time you need to do a hard reset.
I have tried everything - i upgraded to the latest firmware / formatted internal storage. Fault keeps repeating. Most of the time fault happens when i wake up phone from sleep.
I contacted samsung - and they told me to take it to have it repaired. What a pity - i only had this phone for 2 weeks!!!.
Anyone passing through the same thing? not sure whether this is a known issue since the repair was quite decisive in that phone needs to be repaired - maybe samsung is aware of such a fault.
Ken
Ahh!! Me too. Everything I tried it never help. My case same as ken481. Everything same.
return it and get a replacement...
have had the phone for almost a week and no issues like what you said so far. assume u don't have an sd card inserted and "sd card fault" is really the internal memory and not the actual sd card itself.
sounds like a faulty phone and u should get a replacement.
From your post it wasn't quite clear that if you have sd-card or not?
If you don't have, what happens if you enter sd-card? Maybe there is something in the slot which is making the error. If you just put sd-card there maybe it will get fixed?
On the other hand if you already have sd-card in the slot, I think that is a problem of the sd-card then.
Palmmmy - did you get a replacement?
Hi Guys i was told to try and run a disk check on the phone drive - anyone has any idea how to do this?
Ken
Hi
OK i tried one other thing - i removed external sd card from mobile.
When i try to move an application to sd card it tell me "Failed to move application not enough memory"
To my knowledge the galaxy should use the internal memory for applications right?
So i assume this is a clear indication that there is something wrong with the phone

I've tried this way too and same as Ken.
I've changed my micro-sd 3 times but still have same problem.
Cannot replacement too.

Valid option if I get the 16GB?

So, considering that 6.0 can format the sdcard to appear as internal memory, is there any good reason for going with 32GB or more? I would like to save the money and just get the 16GB and format the card so it appears internal.
Other than being slightly slower than internal memory, would this be a valid route going 16+card as opposed to 32+card?
I have a OnePlus One right now with the 64 and usually have about 20GB left so 32 is the base I need but I figure I might be able to get away with 16 if the card appears as all internal anyway.
Thoughts?
Yes, I went with a 16GB model also for the same reason. I installed a 64gb Sandisk extreme SD card that transfers up to 90mb/s. Nandroid backups went from 30 minutes on my old SD card (some cheap crap) to less than one minute. With a proper card you'll have no issues running apps off the SD.
The internal memory isn't much faster.
I've been considering using the adoptive storage, but I went ahead and bought the 32gb. Call me old fashioned, but I like having an SD card that is considered separate from the main storage for one big reason: If I ever have to do a wipe of the phone, I know that my photos, TWRP backups, and so on, are all safe as long as they are on the SD card. I don't know if we know what'll happen if you use the adoptive storage and you have to wipe the phone. Will it keep what is on the SD card part? Will it wipe it as well? My understanding is that it'll wipe it.
So I may just keep on doing what I'm doing... change the camera settings to use the SD card for pictures and videos, make the SD card the default place to save downloads, and only use the internal storage for app installs.
I use my SD card to store all of my media and reserve internal storage purely for apps. I can manage with 16gb since I don't have a lot of big apps. Adoptive storage is a nice feature but I don't think I'll be using it, since I like taking my microsd out and popping it in my laptop to manage my music, photos and movies.
Do we know FOR SURE that there will be no way to partition the external SD so that part of it is used for the OS (non-readable outside the phone) and part for external storage?

I haven't read anything that would suggest so. Everything I've read indicates that it formats the entire card to be used as internal storage. The tradeoff, it seems, for allowing adoptive storage is to make it very difficult for your to remove the card and use it in another machine.
Well thanks guys. Still up in the air which phone I'll ultimately get and if it's the Moto, what size but this does clarify things.

If you format the card as adoptive storage you can't just pop out the card and read it from a computer. The computer won't be able to read it.

Currupt SDcard

Hi all,
I use my Mi A1 with a 16GB SanDisk sd card as formatted as internal memory. Sometimes, I try to access photos or maps and I got "sd card currupt" message. If I reboot the phone, everything works flawless again.
As I see this curruption message very often and I don't need the additional 16gb, how can I get rid of the sd card without messing with my apps/photos? Is there any way other than reset the phone?
Regards
I never set them up as internal, if you get corruption it can cause all kinds of issues with apps, just like never moving apps to SD card, don't know what size you have but I went for the 64gb phone which has bags of space especially as I used to have a 16gb Samsung S4 which actually only had 8.8gb free.
My advice (unless you really need the extra space) would be to set the SD as external.

Nokia 5 SD problem

Hi all,
My partner's phone - Got an interesting problem with the SD card. I bought an SD card, 64GB and put it in. It formatted fine and even offered to move the stuff off the phone and onto the card. Happy days. The problem now is, when I delete a file from the phone, it doesn't delete just from the phone, but both phone and SD card... lol. O...k. lol.
So I then sent a test file, a random video to myself from my partner's phone to my phone over WhatsApp then took the SD card out of my partner's phone and tried to delete it from her internal storage. It said the file couldn't be deleted because it was stored on the SD card.... yet, taking up space on the phone. So it was like having a dead body, no life, but taking up the room, on the internal storage, but when the SD card was put back, all "bodies" danced back to life again, making the video work as it once did. So it thinks they're saved on the SD card, and are, yet can't be removed from the phone and still taking space. In effect, it copied them but won't let the files leave the phone. So it was a weird mutation copy merge from internal to external storage. Sigh
So, I think I have to buy a new charger (current one charges but doesn't connect the phone to the pc) and manually cut from phone files and paste into sd card files, unless anyone has a better plan or actual way to fix this?
Thanks for your time,
Cormac
update
Well this is most interesting............................
I went to the shop and bought a cable that worked. When I connected it to the computer, I was able to see ONLY SD card, no internal memory..... so now it looks like it has dissapeared.. and merged with the internal memory.... which means that it now doesn't allow us to put stuff into the SD card. However, It seems to think it has more space.. I am hopeful it can allow this. I had to delete an app to make room for Facebook messenger update. Despite having the SD card in the phone... I don't like this... I dunno what to do. Any help welcomed.
Thanks,
Cormac
If you want seperate storage you have to use your SD card as an external storage rather than using as an internal storage. & Why did you buy a cable? The charging cable can be used for transferring data.
