I recently tried im+ and every time i try to log into AIM with it. The AIM icon turns green. A scroll bar apears at the right of the screen and shrinks as if there is a lenghening list being formed. Then the wizard locks up and hangs for a few minutes. Then the scroll bar looks as if the list is shrinking very quickly and IM+ just disconnects completely for a minute before starting to connect on its own again. In fact it did it so many times that i was banned from aim for an hour. Has anyone else had this problem. And do you have a way to stop it?
thanks
I have not been able to get AIM to work reliably with any of the Pocket PC apps I have tried, and also end up getting banned when it fails to fully connect over and over.
What HAS worked well for me, is to log in with my Google Talk account and import AIM contacts into it. I am doing this with IM+ and it works well, except for a crash now and then I think might be IM+.
You can get instructions on how to import contacts from other services into Google Talk here: http://www.bigblueball.com/forums/google-talk-news/33739-connect-google-talk-aim-msn-yahoo.html
I'll have to look into the google talk thing.
Whats weird is that im+ seems to not like either of my screenames. I've let a few of my friends log into aim and they dont have any problems at all. Its just my screenames that cause problems. I dont get it.
Well i got it working. And all i did was install and uninstall it 5 times and it finally works. That same aproach has worked for other programs as well. funny how that works. funny and annoying...
All of a sudden I got "An error had occurred while fetching data [null]" every time I want to see my live feed and my own profile from my Nexus One phone (stock Facebook app). I have no problem accessing it from the browser or PC.
Strange thing though, when i log out, then re-login using OTHER facebook account, I can see the live feed and the profile page no problem. Everything works fine again.
However, once i login using MY account, problem starts again.
I have hard reset my N1, problem still there.
Any idea? Please help.
I like the stock Facebook app on N1, don't really want to install another app or use browser to access it.
Oh and my N1 is stock, no root yet.
Thank you
Calm down and take a deep breath I have the same problem. It is not your phone it is facebook server. I had the problem yesterday shortly and today in the morning. Now it seems ok for me...wait until they repair the problem and use the browser application in the meantime...
i had the same issue also, mine seems to be working now though.
so server related not my phone?
phew...
mine still isn't working though
still not working? dang, just give it some time, mine was out a good 6-7 hours
I've had this issue on the Desire ROM where the live feed on the Friend Stream just refuses to update... I was "locked out" for a few days.
strange, it wasn't working for a while until u put the facebook widget on my home. click on the facebook icon, then ta-da! all working again.
Not sure if it was a coincidence...
It's a problem with some 3rd party apps that push data to your facebook feed and the client's interpretation of the XML. Zynga apps being one of them.
You can experiment by hiding various 3rd party apps form your facebook feed (or logging in when you get the error on a computer and seeing what apps were there and not on your phone).
Once they're hidden (or, over time as they pass further down the history list) your feed will work fine.
i don't play games on facebook, nor have i allow any games to be on my profile.
strange, but it works ok now.
Not just games this can be form ANY third party app that has an illegal character in it....this includes quizes, "who visited your profile", horoscopes, any of those things, anything that is not a pure-facebook update.
Same problem here on htc desire S. On wifi all is ok. On 3g ''An error had occurred while fetching data (null.)'' This is very strange.
Hi there.
I have an X10a from Rogers, 2.1(official upgrade), rooted and ever since running the 2.1 update my email notification has been inconsistant at best. With the stock email program it worked sporadically. Sometimes it doesn't even sync... I open the app, load new messages and they appear. Sometimes it makes a sound and puts the indicator in the status bar but no flashing led and sometimes everything works.
I tried K9 and that seemed to work but no led, so I loaded Maildroid and everything was fine for a while but now even that is sporadic.
I currently have my stock email notifications disabled, gmail sync enabled, maildroid sync enabled, wake up ever 15 mins in sleep to check email and still it only works sometimes.
I would prefer just using the stock email client as it seemed nicer on battery useage. Is there a way to uninstall it and reinstall it easily? I almost tried it with Titanium backup but the warning that i might need to reflash scared me off doing it.
Any thoughts?
Same thing i noticed with mine , Email is really bad after the update , can know for sure when i get a new Email
using the gmail app and no problems at all
i have 3 other email accounts all forwarded to my gmail
This is two forums and no one has been able to suggest anything to fix it. I think i'll just go back to the stock email client and live with it... checking manually whenever I remember.
This would be my one major complaint about the 2.1 upgrade...aside from it I'm pleased with the rest.
I use shangmail.it works great.

I can try it. Does it light up the LED with the notification?
Re: my issue, i've noticed that it definitely seems that it's the syncing that's not happening moreso than the notification. I can send an email and until I open my client and load more messages, it won't appear where in the past it would pull down the email, notify me and then when I checked it was already there.
Okay...so I reflashed 2.1 on the phone last night. Immediately after the flash everthing was working fine. Then I rooted, installed Titanium backup and started to restore my apps and data... one at a time instead of the batch. At some point it stopped working again even though I didn't install 100% of the things I had on before.
Then briefly I uninstalled Super Security Standard and it started working again...but that didn't last.
I suppose it must be something i've installed, but it's really frustrating that the behavior isn't consistant. Aside from reflashing and then testing after restoring each app, I don't know what I can do.
It's definitely a syncing issue, not a notification issue. Installed a couple of free gmail notifiers and they don't work because the emails aren't sync'd until i go into the email client and manually load new mail.
What could be blocking the gmail sync?
Okay..some more searching has revealed a workaround. I cleared the cache for Gmail app and Gmail storage, rebooted and added the power control widget and cycled the sync button.
Now I can get email notifications when I cycle the sync...but only then. In the thread I found doing this once seemed to 'unstick' the sync, but that's not happening with me.
What sorts of things can 'hang' the sync? I'm still guessing some apps i've installed...
I'm not really sure where to ask this, so I thought to come here and ask. Anyways, i'm using Windows 8 Professional. 64-bit. The Messaging App isn't working that well at ALL. I have re-installed the app, and re-added my Facebook account in Win8. However, there will be many people that message me on Facebook and I will receive their message. When I go to reply to them, it says that I can't reply to them since they're not "Online" however they are. Sometimes it won't even display their names and just say "Getting name...". If it displays that I can't reply to them, sometimes it still lets me to send a message.
I'm believing (and hoping) that Hotmail Contacts are screwing with it. I don't really know what to do. Yes, i've done a google search and have found nothing! So, what is there left for me to do or try?
EDIT: I seemed to have fixed my problem. I deleted ALL of my Hotmail Contacts/Messenger Contacts and it seems to be working perfectly fine. I don't use MSN anymore so it's perfectly fine for me!
some times it takes alooooooooooot of time to sync all and to start work normally. just leave messaging app opened over night and see results.
Just wondering is there a site or something that I could try the push notifications? Im trying to get rid of Facebook software as much as I can and Chrome push notifications would be a nice alternative but for some reason they dont work. I got one but nothing after that. I need the notifications so what are my options?
Stock rooted 6.0.1. with Greenify and all the other normal apps in use. Chrome is not Greenified so it should not be about that.
So far I have tried normal Chrome, Chrome Beta and Chrome Dec versions and same thing. Found a site that enables you to try the notification and at least screen on it works at that site. Any idea why it does not work in Facebook.
I used Disa as an alternative for FB Messenger, some others reported better battery life after getting rid of messenger. I used it for a week and didnt see much improvement, then went back to messenger and battery life was about the same.
I did un-install Facebook in favor of "SlimFacebook" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-slimfacebook-1mb-0-permissions-t3254174)

I just want to get rid of Facebook software in my phone but I need the chat part of it and the notifications. Chrome push notifications would be perfect but they just don't work and I have no idea why. It worked maybe once or twice and after that it stopped working. Any clues how to fix them.
