I've been going around trying different versions of cm and stock based roms, those which have performance don't have battery life, or vice versa
I'm on Resurrection Remix 5.6.8 and barely getting 3.5hrs sot, recommend me a best balanced setup
stock rom with squid kernel. 6 hours sot easy.
I also agree. Stock rom and squid kernel. Squid kernel is slightly undervolted which saves you some more battery.
i recently flashed cm13, even thought its a nightly rom i haven't faced any issue so far. Working very smoothly and battery backup is amazing as well, the phone lasts for around 24 hours with half the time on 3g data and half the time on wifi. I'm not a very heavy user though but i'm happy with cm13 overall.

I wanted to start this thread mostly because I haven't found anything like it, but also because I need to know myself
Being the good flashaholic fiend that I am, as well as a monstrous fan of the Open Source, I run between AOSP/CM Roms, and Touchwiz roms for my Note 3.
While I absolutely love the vanillaness of CM/AOSP, what I've found over the last few weeks is that I am getting about 1/2 the battery life I do on a Touchwiz Rom with about the same amount of usage, using Shinto kernel and/or LeanKernel (about the same batter life give or take an hour).
For instance, I'm on a ZeroLemon 10,000Mha battery. With the Rom in my Sig, I can get about 4 days with moderate usage... while on a CM/AOSP rom, I'm lucky at best to get 2 days.
Why is this? Especially because there are a lot more processes running on the TW rom?
What are your opinions?
Same here man, found the battery life in s5 port rom better than Cm11

So... i did find better battery life with CM11... but an AOSP rom is noticably horrid... and still TW roms seem to be better than both.
All tests are using LeanKernel same version... all configured the same in terms of the kernel.
Anyone have any ideas why this is?
Because TW rom are optimized with material and not AOSP who are generics . ...
I think i got a decent setup now for CM11
Tasker to Greenify almoat eberythin on screen off. Pixel Battery Saver on Medium
Underclocked to 1.9Ghz with burst to 2.2Ghz.
300Mhz at screen off.
Looking at 73% battery left with 14.5 hrs off charger and just over 3 hours screen in time. Wifi is always on... and i do about a half hour gaming... 2 hour chromecast thru plex and about 2 hours bluetooth music streaming
Yes... I have a zerolemon
Hello,
I'm tired of constantly flashing ROMs on my D802. Flashed Grola - got random reboots and mobile network bugs, flashed AICP - got poor battery life. Even stock ROM is quite poor because of bugs and, simply, ugliness.
I know it's not allowed to compare ROMs, but I'm asking if you can recommend me a ROM that:
- is not ugly (so I'm not considering original stock-like ROMs)
- has good battery life (for example 5h of SOT + 3h of calls)
- doesn't hang nor reboots for a random reason
- is simply stable
Is there any ROM that's up to scratch?
SaberSunset
Firstly stock, secondly there is no best rom, also best rom threads are not allowed, root-debloat-and theme a stock rom, and get your combination.
And battery life measuring via SOT is stupid, very stupid, i can read an ebook and get 7h of SOT, or watch watch a movie on airplane mode and have 4h of calls and 6h of SOT or play a heavy game with 4G and get barely 2h SOT, or have a mixed usage and get 5h SOT, so, did you get it?
Flash optimus g3 rom.apply dorimanx kernel.enyoy

Any stock ROM will be fine.
On FR rom currently. Very stable and good backup.
I'm on CM12 Lollipop with the daily Nightlies...
Works great for me, no bugs and very smooth. Battery is great, as you can stop the waking up of the phone in advanced privacy settings, which makes me have the phone on for 2 days without any issues.
Well worth the flash, I'm not flashing anything else anymore!
cloudy g3..
the best i found on d820
i get 6hrs SOT with atleast 2.5 hrs of browsing.. lil bit gaming n a few calls
So what is the best ROM/kernel combination for battery life? Curious as I get about 3.5-4h SOT with stock ROM and Franco kernel.
Thanks
Roms dont have that much of an impact in battery life. Kernel might, and franco is good and optimised kernel many users recommend. Its all about your usage, if you are on mobile data all day, play some games, then 4hours of sot is totally fine result. Im using pure nexus rom with franco kernel, if its light usage, like tapatalk chrome etc, usually i get around 6hours if sot, if its heavier usage 4..
I'm facing issues with the standby time of the stock OOS 3.5.6. I want to try other ROM which can fix it. I want a ROM with nice battery/performance.
Which ROM should I try?
Thanks
I'm currently using Cosmic OS it's pretty good, everything runs smoothly and the developer support is great!

I have been using cypher os since early dec last year, and it has been very good. SOT for me isnt as good as CM13.1 (8:30h SOT vs 7:30h SOT on cypher, but standby time is great if you use greenify with aggressive doze. I get around 2-3% overnight drain sometimes more if i leave wifi on.
Hmm, I'm gonna try it.
The main reason I'm looking for a ROM is because the battery drain overnight. I use two SIM cards, and the "phone idle" is higher than expected. I use stock ROM, OOS 3.5.6
Resurrection remix is good.
Hey! I am currently running 7.1.1 on my rooted OP5 but I am not satisfied with the battery life... is there any rom that sagnifically improves the battery life of the oneplus 5?
You can try RR unofficial with Blu Spark Kernel. It has an fully working OOS Stock Cam and comes with YouTube Adaway and background player. Also i get 9 hours SOT with the default kernel profile and no heavy multitasking. Or wait for an unreleased ROM, can't say the name yet, cause it's in an Testing Phase.:highfive:
What kind of battery life are you currently getting? Are you running stock OOS with the stock kernel? Switching to a custom ROM to improve battery life seems extreme if you haven't explored any options on your current ROM to improve battery life first. Are you trying to improve SOT? Reduce idle drain? Both?

Yeah, install EX kernel, significantly under-volt and under-frequency it, and install one of these super aggressive EX profiles that put half your cores to sleep. The delete all apps you don't use, particularly system apps, and Greenify everything else, turn off push notifications and location services, and turn down screen brightness to a minimum. While you are at it lock the phone in a volt to keep you from turning on the screen. You will get great battery life alright, but you may not like using the phone :banghead:
I'm running Pure Fusion with blu spark and am getting nearly 9hrs SOT
Great ROM and kernel combo imo
