i received new U.S xoom. then I upgraded it to 3.1 and then followed the topic here(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1078019) to unlock and un-root. it.
however, according to this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041453&page=3) , now I found I need to flash canada rom to get more language support. that means I need re-flash boot and system. after that, do i need to re-do unroot steps?
I just had a quick questions about rooting.
I rooted my phone with motorchopper and things have been working great. Got rid of all the bloatware I didn't need as well as gave my device a quick clean. I've had little to no signs of lag(made in Korea). I'm new to the whole customization route. This is my first smartphone and I couldn't be happier with it
1. I rooted my phone successfully, however, I have heard somewhere else that the device needed to be bootloader unlocked before it is rooted. Now, motochopper, allowed it to find an exploit in the device. Is this, in any way, harmful for the phone if it finds an exploit? Most likely not, just curious. Dumb question
2. Does the device need to be bootloader unlocked before I am able to flash a custom recovery, ROM ect.? If the device turns out to be bootloader unlocked later on and released can I flash custom recoveries, make backups and use most tools successfully through ROM Manager? Or would it be best to do it through Odin and do things manually? Where would I be able to find essential files? Is odin specified for a specific device? Just curious
3.What ROM's would you recommend. Cynogenmod? I just want something that is lightweight, stable and functions well throughout the device. Where would be a good source to find good roms?
4. If the device is already rooted can I just start flashing custom recoveries, ROMs ect? Or would someone need to release an unlocked bootloader? How does unlocking the bootloader work? What are ways to do it? Flashing a file or doing something else. Idk..just curious I may be wrong.
I just want to know some good methods to make sure I don't brick this device. Of course backing up and recovering would do well. I've heard clockworkmod is one of the best custom recoveries you can use.
Thanks, in advance, for you help.
I tried follow 2 separate quick or auto-root guides for this phone, but after performing the room, I am no longer able to access the device via USB or use the WI-FI on the device. The Wi-Fi gives an invalid sim card as the excuse (I don't have an active one right now), and the USB isn't working even after installing drivers and software from Samsungs site, and messing with the usb menu numbers. USB works in order to root the device, and it worked prior to rooting. HELP?!
Or you flashed the wrong version of CF auto-root or you need to remove Knox.

Thanks, finally got the phone rooted, what is the easiest way to unlock the phone from this point? It's at 4.4.4 model M919. I can only find guides for 4.4.2, but those do not work. Is the best option to flash to an older version? How is that done?
I'm following this guide, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283068

You probably need to temporarily flash an old modem. Then apply that procedure and then flash back a correct modem.
Hi ,
I'm asking about the easiest way to update since now every month we have a new update.
my phone bootloader is unlocked and rooted.
I read a way using the nexus tool but I couldnt find it.
thanks
If you're rooted you can't take an OTA, so you need to flash the factory images. Don't use a toolkit, they can cause problems, plus you really need to have knowledge of how to use fastboot if you're modifying your phone. I have a detailed guide here (see section 9):

Hi,
I have an EU G7 L01, followed this guy's tutorial (http://ministryofsolutions.com/2016...ade-marshmallow-europe-asia.html#comment-2438) to update to marshmallow, replacing the "oeminfo" file with a turkish version, to trick the phone into updating. The new file had no IMEI in it, and after the update I was left with a locked bootloader, no root and no way to replace that file with my backup, to make the phone accept the sim card. From what I see, I'm either left with a small tablet or I have to replace the motherboard to make it work again.
Any other ideas would be appreciated.

To get your device to its original state, you need to downgrade to B340 of the Turkish firmware: http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=74865&version=273720&siteCode=tr
Do a forced update with B340, root the device using Kingroot, replace your original oeminfo file, then install the official EU firmware.
If you really want to use marshmallow, then the only way will be to pay for your bootloader to be unlocked. On the source post, it clearly states that there was a problem with unlocking the bootloader, and HCU Client should be used to unlock it. The problem with that guide is that the bootloader unlock code only works a certain amount of tries before it becomes unusable, and the only way to replace your original oeminfo file is to have root, which is only possible on marshmallow with an unlocked bootloader.
I would suggest you let the guy who wrote the article know about your issue. Regardless of whether he stated that it is done at your own risk, he either needs to amend his article to that of the source, or remove it completely, as many people will not be able to pay $5 to get the bootloader unlock code.
Good luck!

Only when downgrading back to the Turkish B340 Lollipop, using Kingroot.
