My sister's Moto G takes way too long to charge with it's original charger. Way over 5 hours even though the device is supposed to be a fastcharge one. If she uses a standard charger from her old phone, it takes about 2.5 hours which, I think is normal considering those chargers don't support fast charge.
Yeah I'm using a Samsung fast charger which is charging from 10% to full in 50mins

It feels too slow for me too. How do you know something is a good charger for this phone? You should look at voltages right?

Built-in, no. You'll most likely be able to use a 3rd party microUSB-to-Qi wireless charger receivers that can be found on Amazon for ~$12. Since the G4 lineup has a removable back plate, you might even be able to stick it inside the phone (if it doesn't fit, can just use a case).
Thanks for the responses, much appreciated
I'm excited about mine. I ordered one for my GF and I. I have the Note 5 but they are so slow with updates and I live down here in Colombia so walking around with the Note 5 isn't always the smartest. Plus all I use my phone for is work email, hangouts, whatsapp and skype. I will be getting mine next week and if for some reason I don't like it I can easily sell it down here. I think they run about $250-300 here in Colombia
Should've done some reseach, motorola is also quite slow with updates from what I've heard.

Meaning? Model or phone. In my experience Motorola is as good as most on updates, certainly better than some companies like Samsung.

My brother's moto g (2nd gen I believe) took a couple of month before getting his marshmellow update he was promised.

I've had motos before and they always released before Samsung. Half the time I have to flash third party to get the update before Samsung does the official release. Plus I don't need a $500 phone anymore. I can buy 4 of these Moto g from Amazon for the price I got the note 5 for.

My note 5 was about 4-5 behind in get MM. Looks like most Moto phones got the release in Feb which is only 2 months behind the actual release date

I've previously had Samsung, LG, Moto and Huawei and the Moto's were the best on updating. Samsung was probably the worst but that was probably because they don't push out updates directly and instead let the providers do it. LG and Huawei, seem to make every phone end of life as soon as they release it.
spotify issues?
i'm about to pull the trigger on this but have had issues on my current phone using spotify and an sd card.
can someone confirm that there are no issues saving offline music to an sd card?
Does anybody have "burn-in" problems on the screen? I know it's LCD but the icons on the notification bar burn-in extremely fast. The problem goes away 100% overnight, but what bothers me is how ridiculously fast the burn in occurs. Could my screen be defective?

Terrible gaming performance (Pokemon Go, Hearthstone)
I am experiencing terrible frame rates in the only two games I play on my device, Hearthstone and Pokemon Go. Review videos showed the phone playing 3D games with ease, yet I seem to be having trouble . Is anyone else having issues? I can barely navigate the menus of Pokemon the framerate is so bad.

I've only had mine a couple of days, but I haven't seen that so far.
One question. Does G4 have any restriction in Wifi tethering? The reason I asked is I got burned last time I got a Nexus 6P from Google and it does not allow Wifi tethering unless carrier's plan allows it.
Thanks,
Lyre

Since you can't write to SD now anyways...it doesn't matter to me. Anyone else ready to ditch Samsung? Good chance the boot loader on a new Motorola won't be totally locked down like our N4 is. It's a super Moto X basically.
I would miss the removable battery and S pen too much. Also I'm not crazy about the screen size of the turbo

I do like the screen size but that 3900mAH battery sounds good. I'd be set for days
I am looking to pickup either the Note 4 for Turbo for the wife. She doesn't need/want the S-Pen. She wants a phone that's fast, easy to use and provides great pics even in low lights. She doesn't know what she wants and is not a tech person at all lol. Which phone do you think will have the better camera?

I'll wait for reviews to make a final judgement, but there is a very low chance the turbos camera is better then the note 4. None of the moto devices are known for their camera. Even the new moto x is weak still in that department.

The bootlader on the droid turbo will be locked down tighter than fort Knox. So don't expect to be rooting or flashing Roms on it. I do like the form factor and the materials they use. I also like the specs they included. For me the only gripes I have is the camera, I heard it was OK.

Why would they lock the boatloader down? Unlike Samsung, they aren't pitching phones to corporate America. Motorola's been fairly open recently with the Moto X too. Their forum already has a system dump waiting for Devs...
Also...the UI Motorola has been going with is waaaay better than TW

Trust me, I'm coming from a original Moto X and ive had my fair share of droid brand devices. The bootloader is not unlocking any time soon. Maybe someone will find a root exploit but that's about it.

The only reason I could think of is to help promote the N6 as being the only unlocked and truly customizable stock phone on VZW. VZW could make them have it locked from factory as well. We will see on Thursday when it is released.
Picked this up from a recent link about the announcement of the turbo.

Exactly. The turbo is very enticing. If root doesn't happen in the next couple of days for the note 4. Then I will definitely get the turbo using my exchange period from Verizon.

I suppose... I usually was OK getting home on 10%. I work outside and to truly not have to worry about batteries at all would be sweet. This phone does well but it negates the screen when I have to crank the brightness down to nothing to make it to 10% at the end of the day
The Note 4 is a great device, and the battery is pretty good. But I find myself having to adjust frequently to save battery life were I can. With the turbo I don't think that would be the case. Plus it charges incredibly fast.

I got the LG G4 trough the insiders campaign in UK
Actually I own a Nexus 5, while in the past I had an S2 and a Note 2.
Nexus 5 is a quite good phone but battery life also with custom kernel is limited to its the battery size. Moreover when I bought my Nexus 5 I was coming from a Note 2, so I started to miss a bigger screen and for sure a better camera that is the weaker point of Nexus 5.
Battery
Let’s start from what everyone take care and want to now when they have to buy a new smartphone: “The battery life”.
So, taking into account that the battery life of a smartphone really depends on the usage pattern of every single user, apps and mobile reception of where we live, after 5 day of usage I can say that with my pattern of usage (see below) I am constantly getting between 4 and 5 hours of SOT.
Pattern of usage: 2 mails in push (one for work where I usually receive many mails by day), mixed use wifi/data, no push notification for facebook, chatting, browising, watching few videos, and reading mostly all the time. Some camera shots when I am with friends. Brightness always in automatic mode.
Camera
There are already too many example and comparisons on youtube. I can only confirm that the camera great one of the best for now. I have a DSLR camera and like to take my time when I have to take a picture of a landscape. So I really appreciated the manual mode and how it is good and simple the interface of the new camera app. Everything can be settled with few taps. Although a smartphone probably will never substitute a DSLR camera, with that toy on G4 you can have fun for sure.
Display
Also here, already many review and comparisons with the S6 amoled. Without judging which is better because I do not own an S6, what I can tell for sure is that it is really good. Colors are never saturated and brightness is fine in the majority of the situations. What I found really improved is the antiglare, the reflection of the sun seems to me pretty good, while a negative impression is that the display seems to be really power hungry as soon as you increase the brightness.
Reception and Calls
Reception is basically the same of my nexus 5 (pretty good) while I found the calls really clear on the LG G4 and better than my nexus 5.
Speakers
Good and really loud… was unexpected!
Missing Features out of the box
Two missing feature out of the box are the wireless charging and the quick charging. While the quick charging is officially supported by the SD808 and we only have to wait for a kernel update to have it enabled, the big disappoint is the wireless charge. Big disappoint because it is not officially supported on the leather cover but only buying a circle cover. After all the advertising on that cover by LG I can not understand why to enable a common feature of any actual flagship we have to change cover (or via an unofficial way, like a sticker to add to the cover).
Overall and final considerations
This phone is satisfying me under the majority of aspect that I want from a phone, like the battery life, the camera, the display and the quality of calls. I think this phone has a huge potential that can be improved with a good custom kernel and a lighter custom rom (even if I have to say that I found the stock rom really fluid and without any lag). With a custom kernel we will probably gain an other hour of SOT.

I got an email yesterday to say that I didn't get picked.
I'm in as well, with the insiders too. One disappointment is I thought we would get the phone before launch, it doesn't look that way anymore. I wonder if they will send out a random selection of colours or just the black.
I didn't get in. Looks like I'll have to buy one in Black Leather next week instead [emoji14]

Yep mee too .. From the mail seems that the device will arrive for the end of this week
I didn't get in, keen to hear what you guys think before ordering one
I'm in too! Devices are arriving tomorrow so we should be one week ahead of launch
I have been selected too for the UK campaign!! Tomorrow UPS is delivering the G4
I think at the end of the program we will be offered to keep the phone for £250, this is the money that they would take in case of loss lol
I'm pretty sure it is going to be the UK/EU model.
I'm just wondering if we will be getting the LTE of the WiFi only model from what I've seen that's the one the testers are getting overseas
And me mine due tomorrow as well
Has anyone figured out whether it will be metal or leather yet
Also I'm quite intrigued by the tone infinum headset that we are getting aswell

I just think it would be strange that the rest of the world gets the wifi model and the people in the UK the full one but then again the other people didn't have to leave a safety bond
That's very true, but I'm sure it said somewhere that rrp 500 that wouldn't be a dummy phone.
But on the other hand, why would the payment only be 250 if you didn't return it when the phone is around 599 gbp and the headphones are 80

Mine too will arrive tomorrow ... it sound strange that the UK model is the only one not wifi, but it is also true that we were probably the only ones we had to provide the bank account to have it .. let's see tomorrow what we will get

Seeing as the G4 was released days ago I'm sure a lot of us are still within the 'buyers remorse' period, which leads me to the question, myself included.
Are you planning on keeping yours even if say root won't be available?
I'm on Tmobile, and used my jump (1) coming from the Note 4 and still trying to decide whether or not to keep the G4. To me it definitely feels better in hand and more compact. Plenty fast, camera is great but I am hoping for root as I'd want to disable some crap.
What's everyone else thinking?
I'm on those that don't care about root, so yeah i bought G4 to keep it as my 2015 phone and next year let's see what's up for me .
And i'm loving this phone in all ways so yeah, i'm not even thinking a bit about returning it.
I'm keeping it no matter what happens! Best phone ever 100000%!
Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
I'm thinking I'll return it. If not for the fact that I'm on Verizon and most likely the BL will remain locked, then because the WiFi load speeds suck. I get 40mb down on my 5ghz router yet the load times on Web pages are horrible. There is definitely something wrong with WiFi.

This is everything I could ask for in a phone. I don't see myself even upgrading next year. I don't know what I could even want extra. I only text my gf and family and browse the web and take pictures for self pleasure. I don't feel the need to spend another 600 on a phone. Keeping my g3 as a backup phone and possibly selling it if the price is right.
Love the phone. Only slightly better than the G3 in my opinion but thats still pretty darn good. Camera is amazing though and the rear speaker is loud and powerful. I'll be keeping it.
Love the phone since turning off fast dormancy fixed my battery problems, it's superior to my s5 in all respects now the s6 was just that one step too much like an iPhone for me and HTC pissed me off when they used to promise device updates and not deliver by uturning at the last moment. Only thing I'm waiting on its a decent gen 3 Android wear watch to launch. And root is no good to me as my banking app will not install to a rooted device due to security issues.
Even though this thing was totally an impulse buy (stopped at Best Buy Thursday to check out a floor model and ended up buying), I'm actually extremely satisfied. I think a lot of keeping or returning depends on the device you're coming from. For me, this screen blows the Nexus 6's out of the water in terms of brightness, color, and clarity. The size is more manageable and I'm not dealing with random app crashes (especially the google play services issues for the past couple weeks).
For the past few years, I've never had a preference between AMOLED or LCD, but I think this finally did it. I can't think of too many screens I've looked at days after purchase and still thought it was an absolute joy to look at.
I'm on AT&T and I can't say that root or no root bothers me too much. It's fun to tinker with new roms, but I don't have any real reason for root. I couldn't stand not having a notification light on the Nexus 6, so I needed root for that. The only thing I miss is being able to change my emojis to match my wife's S5. Another reason I enjoy root and unlocked bootloader is in case poor updates come out, then I can usually revert.
For reference, I've owned many phone in the past year and a half. Some short that got returned or sold and some for longer periods. Moto X 2013, Note 3, Nexus 5, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S5, G3, Galaxy S6, Nexus 6, and finally the G4.
I am getting it swapped out with Tmobile. Heat, lag, etc. Hope 2nd time's the charm...
I think im gonna keep it. I just ordered a bunch of stuff for it like quick charger, cases....
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
I'm pretty much set for another year. G3 before this and i avoided all the other temptations that came out before the G4 got here. I feel like i can do the same until next year.

Isn't fast dormancy beneficial to have on?
When I checked mine it's status was unknown, disabled it for now to see what happens.
Was told or read it's only beneficial if your carrier supports it else it generates Wake locks

that Was My g4 with it on no real use pretty much standby.
After I switched it off I'm calling my carrier on Monday to confirm if they support FD.
Who's your carrier?
I'm probably swapping for another G4 with Tmobile on Monday. Outside chance I get something else instead, but I really want the G4 to work out. I'm having touchscreen issues and my battery life isn't great.
The reviews wowed me much more than the actual phone, which isn't that but of an upgrade. Yeah, the camera is amazing but I barely use them. The screen is really nice and it is pretty quick though.
I'm keeping it but there are a few things I wish were changed, mostly small annoyances like having to swipe to unlock the phone after clicking a notification or the swipe to unlock message altogether.
How do you disable fast dormancy?

I'm really on the fence. I've been waiting for the G4 for a while, but discovered at the last minute that Best Buy didn't offer the leather cases for Verizon. I bought the gray one anyhow ($100 gift card), THEN discovered that Verizon had removed several software features such as Themes and Smart Settings. Finally, I was originally concerned about the size of the phone, since I felt that the G3 was the maximum size I would want. The G4 isn't much longer, but it is wider (so wide that it doesn't fit into my car clip). It didn't seem that big in the store, but once I put a case on it, it seemed to fall into the "phablet" category. Throw in a battery life that's not as impressive as advertised, and buyer's remorse starts creeping in.
It's a nice phone, but it's not that much of an improvement over my G3 to completely win me over. I'll give it another week and a half, but at this point I doubt I'll keep it.

Then they haven't been working there long enough to remember the LG Rumor debacle, or the Palm Pre. When I was fixing rumors due to shredding flex cables and faulty charging ports, our manager authorized free replacements with brand new Rumor 2s, which broke... Just as much, really. Seriously, the original Rumor's port would snap off if a baby sneezed in the same zip code. I have nightmares about that phone and the 65 billion screws it had.
The Palm Pre had the Oreo effect, where the two halves would just start twisting freely, like you were taking apart an oreo. And of course, Palm wouldn't let us repair them, so we had to just swap them with refurbs. We had people that were on their 7th, 8th, 9th devices, but didn't want a different model because of Palm loyalty, and the fact that the Pre had a REALLY nice OS, as compared to early Android.

The forum does not seem to be exploding with this issue, most we find is this thread on it here and see my post lower down that links to sprint users. All of two pages
Things are quiet because LG is replacing the screens under warranty. In my market they offer a 6 month after purchase screen replacement offer. Samsung does the same as well. This means if this problem does not occur within 6 months then it ain't going to happen.
Knowing that this issue may happen and if it does all it takes is a simple screen replacement that too under warranty means i would be less excited if this occurred. An inconvenience to head off to the service center but at least i know i will get it back very likely on the same day because this thing is easy to repair.
Not knowing this can happen otoh would be frightening.
Will be interesting what Sprint will say when I take mine in tomorrow......I will show them this for sure if I get any hassle......I just want my phone!! Grrrr!!
EU model H815
Any idea if the EU model is also affected? I'm waiting for my new G4 to be delivered. Was happy until I saw this thread...

All i found was the recall for sprint model.
I think its only the first batch of sprint models affected.

Hmm, makes me wonder if it's just the Sprint CDMA model.

It's a recall that only effected the Sprint, not necessarily CDMA as Verizon is not impacted, but something Sprint added software wise that created a hardware issue. The major symptom is the screen half snow or static, but other issues such as overheating, freezes, bootloops, stuck on LG logo during boot, touch response issues and network connectivity issues. This effects all models manufactured prior to 10/5/15, in which LG modified the hardware to not have an issue with what ever Sprint does with their software. Knock on wood, the only issue I have had is the network connectivity (average 30% without signal) and constant dropping signal and jumping between 3G and LTE. Kinda a pain in the butt, but I do have to say its improved with ZV6, even though not completely gone. Mine was manufactured May 2015.

Can someone comment on exactly what the "issue" is?
Is this sprint only

Read up a post or two.
Is this a horizontal split or vertical? My girlfriend's G4 has a horizontal split that we're not sure how it came to be.

i had posted the steps in the 3a/xl telegram group earlier today
This is my 3rd Google phone and I was shocked by how Google managed the phone launch this time around. I got the phone just 2 days after ordering it on launch day.
As for the Pixel 3a, I'm loving it so far for its size, weight, easy one-hand use, battery life, lean software, and great camera.
I still like my Samsung S10+ better though.

Aha! Someone with both S10+ and Pixel 3a! Do you intend to keep both?
I am still on original Moto X (How do you know your phone is old? When Chrome browser says it will no longer be updated for this OS version. Happened a couple months ago.) I was really looking forward to get S10e but decided to wait to see if there are any problems. I am really glad I did! Problems with LTE connectivity (as in lack of) mostly on Sprint (70 pages long thread on Samsung forum and similar on Sprint), overheating, Bluetooth issues, proximity sensor not working right and keeps phone up in the pocket. Have you experienced any of those on your S10+?
I looked at Pixel 3 and it was not much better (call quality issues, BT issues, flickering display). Decided to wait for Pixel 3a.
I am just really frustrated that I have pay a lot of money and deal with issues. My 5 year old phone doesn't have any except, well, being old.
EE Uk locked down my pixel 3a lol, tossers.
Battery life is pretty good

Sure
Bunch of discord, checking xda, emails, some music using a bt headset. Brightness kind of all over the place depending on the areas lighting, played a few games, some YouTube, some Reddit, some imgur, browsing the play store, browsing fdroid, telegram. I've attached what I consider to be the final s.o.t for the phone as I'm going to plug it in now. I did notice the battery stats are missing a bunch of apps that ran, so not sure what's up with that.
It's Nice
I have a Samsung S9 as my daily phone. Google delivered the Pixel 3a is two business days, which was quick.
I bought the Google fabric case for the phone. But even without the case the 3a is the first phone I've held in a couple of years which felt "secure". Put another way, every time I handle my Samsung S9 without it's case I am scared I'll drop it, because of the extraordinarily slippery glass. The Pixel 3a feels like I won't drop it. I'm not even sure careful people need a case.
One last thing: Some of the reviews say the phone feels cheap because it's plastic and not aluminum and glass, With a case on the 3a phone no one can tell what the case is made of, or if the rear of the phone is fancy glass. I much prefer a robust phone. Because, you know, when it's all said and done, if you shatter your S9 screen, what you have is $1000 of junk.
So I'm liking this Pixel so far... . And bonus points: It has a headphone jack again! YES!!
