I've been doing lots of reading but can't find any further information if this is yet possible.
My device is locked to EE / UK. I've now rooted it which seems to have worked but now I'm stuck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried unlocking my sx56..I live in Canada and I can't seem to find anything for the rogers of fido.

Can I start by saying what a fantastic website and community. I really hope that my problem can be solved here. If not, then please advise me of the actions I need to take.
I recently bought an Orange SPV M3100 from a friend in the UK but cannot use it in my home country, Slovakia. It only works in Slovakia with a UK sim card but not with any of the Slovakian sims that I have.
I am completed new at this and think I may have found the right link to proceed with trying to unlock my M3100 but I just wanted to make sure that I am about to do the right thing.
So, am I right in saying that all I need to do is go to this posting here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=325748 then click on the 'MrVanx’s Hermes Upgrade Guide' link and go ahead and upgrade something called my ROM or have I completely missed the point?

Hi Can anyone tell me how to check whether my PDA is locked to the 3 network Australia. I live in the country and there is no one I can ask for a sim to check. Also if it is locked can I unlock it to sell it. I'm not familiar with all the terminology or the expertise to do it, so layman's terms (step by step) would be appreciated. I have no idea if you haven't already worked it out.

heya, today i updated my X10i n now its not recognising my sim... I'm a noob regarding rooting n unlocking, so if anyone willing to help me i'll be forever greatful to him...
i want to debrand my X10i (Build: R2BA024) from vodafone to be used on any network (even if i update it in future)
please help me in step by step as em not a computer genius.

As far as I know, there is no unlocking method without generating an unlocking key from carrier. But hey! I can be wrong here.
Well it is a bit strange.. for me at least...
you say that before the upgrade was working fine but after the sim was not recognized.so before the update it was simlock free and after the sim was locked?
what kind of update did you apply?
