When I try to turn off the phone (long pressing power key or pressing turn off button), the screen goes blank but capacitive button leds and notification led still blink. And after waiting about 1 minute, phone restarts itself.
I wiped all things and installed freshly updated stock rom with odin but this problem is not fixed.
On the other hand phone does not recognize sim cards anymore.
Phone model? Android version? Sim/carrier? What have you done to it in the past physically? Has it been repaired? You need to provide a hell of a lot more info.

G900F, It was android 5.0, now upgraded to 6.0.1 ( issue persists ), It is not a carrier locked phone but the carrier is Vodafone TR, I have not done anything physically.
I used boeffla kernel (Could It be the cause?), and it did not repaired.

Hello friends. I have a problem with my Samsung i9500 Galaxy S4. The thing is I can not use the button of power on or turn to lock the screen because the phone is turned off or rebooted and the Samsung logo appears, then it looks like is about to initialize but then reappears Samsung logo. The only way I can turn on the phone is by pressing the buttons of recovery mode and after about 3 attempts, the phone starts normally. I have the stock Rom 4.3 Jelly Bean. On the other hand this started since I took out the SD memory. I have reinstalled the ROM again and continued doing the same. No it may be. I think it is a problem in the boot but I can not solve it. I can not lock the screen with the power button because the phone turns off. I hope you can help me. regards

Upgrade to Kitkat! Or you can flash stock 4.3 OR a factory data reset may help. Try n reply.
I was checking Facebook when suddenly the phone restarted, but it got stuck at the first boot logo over and over...then i tried several steps to figure out what's going on.
*First I took the battery out, leaved the phone without it for about 5hrs, then I put it back and no luck... (The SD card was also removed.)
*Later I tried with a different battery and no luck, the phone keeps restarting over and over...
*Tried entering in Download mode and nothing works, the phone does not respond, and then it restarts...
*Tried doing a hard reset, but the phone does not respond to (vol up + home + power)
*Changed the SD card with a new one, nothing.
*The battery is not swallowed.
*The device was rooted and running Omega ROM V17 Android 4.3 (rooted it in December and had no problem).
WTH is going on?, if at least i could use download mode to fix it
(another thing that looks strange to me is that as soon as I put the battery on the phone, the device turns on intermediately and I think it's not normal because the device does nothing until the user turns it on.)
Please any help, this issue is over my head.
Thank you so much.
Download mode and recovery is available??
It can be 2 things:
- You have a faulty battery.
- You have damaged hardware.
No flash is going to help you. It's just bad luck.
Probably your power button was broken and stucked. If you still have warranty, send it to repair in samsung service center. This used to happen to my i9500 once.

I have been reading on some of these forums regarding the Note 4 possibly having hardware or software failure in January and February of 2016.
I was using my note 4 last week with stock firmware, never been rooted or changed in any way and suddenly it started randomly rebooting until it finally wouldn't turn back on.
I tried all various groupings of button combinations which did nothing. I tried pulling out the battery and holding down the power button for a minute and then put the battery back in which got me to Odin mode (downloading do not turn off target). I had a MMC read failure and it would not boot up.
I tried to use odin to re-install new firmware but kept getting the error no Pit to partition (i do not know if it was my lack of ability or software/hardware problem). At this point i have given up but then read something about cooling down the phone so i stuck it in the fridge for 5 minutes. I took it out and it actually booted up normally.
Now i notice it is slow and laggy sometimes and still randomly shuts off (it was only using about 1.2G of 1.8G of ram it usually was previously).
Has anyone else had similar issues or found fixes to the problems described above?
I am having similar issues with a note 4 Verizon phone.
I bought it from a friend fairly cheep because it had been dropped but only cracked the camera lense cover.
At first it would boot up and allow me to activate then all the freezing started and random shutdowns. So I figured it was a software issue.
I put it in USB mode flashed with Odin and continually fail.
I tried flashing the recovery firmware and it passed.
Then tried flashing stock fw
With fail again.
Now the phone won't do anything. No recovery mode or USB mode just black screen.
Although while holding the power and volume buttons and plug into USB my pc will pick it up.
But phone does nothing

If you pc picks it up, can you use adb to interact with it?
My Friend gave me an S5 to fix. When you turned it on it would give some message about not loading the OS. I downloaded Odin and what I believe is the correct stock ROM SM-G900F O2 UK.
I managed to install the ROM fine however the screen has totally died. The phone wasn't dropped or anything. I can boot into Recovery and into the OS. Pressing the home button 3 times gives me audio description of the OS.
The screen does not even turn on to show the boot logo. I tried reinstalling the ROM (I had to get into recovery blind) but no joy. It's like a hardware issue however that seems too much of a co-incidence to have had it happen at the same time as flashing the ROM. The colour LED lights up and the side buttons light and vibrate.
Any ideas how to fix? All the blank screen stuff I've found via google the boot logo still shows.
side button lights? are you sure you have an s5 g900x

im betting he's referring to the capacitive buttons flanking the home button
Yeah I'm sure on the the phone is a G900F, I'm referring the side buttons. Any ideas? Can a ROM flash kill the screen totally?
Im so lost with this, im all stock but one day my phone just freezes then bootloop, I would be able to get it work by just leaving it and let it drain itself since it will be boot looping and lock me out completely, like the power button + low volume button would not work even after 10 minutes of holding it, would not boot to download or recovery mode, just the soft touch keys light on and the blue LED.
I reflashed my ROM from sammobile yesterday but did it half-effort, just dirty flashed it but it seemed to reformatted my phone anyway, after reflashing it, everything seemed to work properly for 20 hours and then now im back to this piece of ********* boot looping...
S7 Edge
running the Australia unbranded XSA-G935FXXS1DQG4 from the branded G935FXXS1DQG5,
would flashing de-branded affect this? or this is hardware?, one thing I did that I think was a mistake is that I chose to restore from old device, can apps cause this?
the very first time this happened, I plugged it in to charge then crash and bootloop.
UPDATE:
Things I've tried,
-Booting with NO sim card and SD Card
-Wiping cache and partition then reflashing stock XSA and OPS firmwares
im convinced that this is a hardware issue and will go to Samsung.
mine does this too. crashes then gets into a bootloop at the Samsung logo. I usually try holding the lock and volume down button. I factory reset the phone once but it still keeps happening, this started happening around 4 weeks ago
