Notification LED Timeout

Hello guys,
I am trying to help a friend set up his Wildfire as he is new to android.
His biggest problem is the missed call / sms notification led. When he has a missed call, or a new sms the led notification lights up for five minutes and then turns off. Is it possible to leave the alert led on until he interacts with it?
The phone is brand new and still running the stock rom
Any help would be apreciated.

Just search for 'LED Me Know' on this Forum / GetJar. It should help.
I have used it personally, however, in the latest edition, theres a bug, that even after you have interacted with your phone, it keeps the notification LED on randomly. However, previously, I used v1.06, and, it worked flawlessly.

I have tried both missed call and led me know, but they both time out after 5 minutes.
Am i missing something?

That's weird. Because I distinctly remember in my case, when I used it, the LED would keep blinking for hours at one go, till I checked the notification.
Did you try enabling 'Compatibility Mode' in the App Settings?

Hey 3xeno,
Thanks for responding.
Compatibility mode seems to be greyed out in my phone and i cannot select it.
Should the phone be rooted?

No, it doesnt require root. One more thing comes to my mind, did you disable the stock ROM's option to flash the Notification LED?
Menu > Settings > Display > Notification LED
And GMail LED Notifications from GMail > Settings > More Settings
If, even after doing this, you cannot enable compatibility mode, refer the original thread of the app here and contact the developer, as he says:

Need help with light flow

OK so I want to control the notification light on my VZW G2 so I was referred to Light Flow.
I can not get this app to do anything other than wake the screen. I have the notification light in setting on but deselected all the notifications. I have root mode in the app on and have tried everything combination of setting in the app I can see.
Any help would be awesome.
I'm on Malladus 1.2.2 if that makes a difference.

In general settings check "Enable Light Flow", "Root Mode", "Reset color before change", (not sure if needed just check). Don't check any of the options for additional led's! (YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED): I do use the sleep settings.(optional) Under notification settings, make sure you check "Exclude from sleep mode" or else it won't work while your phone is in sleep mode!--> This may be why yours is not working. Set up your light, sound and vibrations modes to suit your style.

No LED light since upgrade to Oreo

Hi,
I've recently upgraded from N to O (8.1 OPM5, rooted), and ever since then I have no LED notifications at all.
Things done:
1. Enabling "Blink light" in notification settings.
2. Enabling/Disabling the "Ambient display" setting.
3. Checking w/ GravityBox' UNC (I have the pro version).
4. Checking w/ 3rd parties like LightFlow and Light Manager.
None of these worked, and the LED was never on at any color. When using Nougat I had no problem with it.
Any ideas?

This is what I've seen on another website:
"To start...Oreo notifications are very different from Nougat. Not only do you need to turn on the LED as you have already done, but you also need to go into each individual app and make sure you have the same thing turned on.
Here is one example...
Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > App info > Gmail > Notifications > UNDER Miscellaneous tap on "Miscellaneous Make sound" and a new window will open and in here is where you make the individual app adjustments where you turn on "Always pulse notification light" > then go back one screen and tap on "Attachments Make Sound" and another window will open where you make the same adjustments per app as you just did.
The key here is that not only do some things have a toggle to turn them on or off, but those same toggles will open another windows when you tap on the words themselves which gives you more notification options than you thought were even available. Be patient and you will get it."

Unfortunately (for me), all settings are "on" for "Blink Light", and still the LED never turns on.

Close to two years after the release of the G5 Plus, we still don't have any reliable way to use the speaker grill LED as a notification light. As I touched on in a previous thread, there are some custom ROMs that enable the LED light for notifications. There's also an app. The app, however, is quite buggy: you have to set things up from scratch after every reboot, and it has a noticeable effect on my phone's performance; sometimes to the point that the back gets uncomfortably warm. There's also a Tasker profile someone made, but I couldn't get that to work reliably either.
Perhaps the end-all solution for using the speaker grill light as a notification LED, in both stock and custom ROMs, is a simple and battery-friendly Magisk or Xposed module. If one of our skilled devs can make something that works, I'll gladly donate to your development efforts. Thanks!

You can use the "Legacy Light Flow" app as outlined in the post I copied below. I'm using it and it works well.

Found another alternate method in some other post, below are the instruction..(only works on rooted devices)
you can use the Light Flow Legacy app to control the led. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...owlegacy&hl=en)
Once you've installed it, you must give notification access.
Go to menu > settings > Device Settings and Root > check "root mode" and "run every command as root".
Then go to menu > settings > LED control > Additional LEDs found > check "charging control"
Now, go to menu > notification settings > click the 3-dot menu on any of the items in the list > settings
In the next screen, swipe right to find a tab called Light. Find charging LED and click on it. You'll have an option of turning it "solid".
You also have an option to set its brightness, but that setting didn't change the led's brightness.
On the top right corner, you have an option called "Test". Click on that and switch off your display.
You should see the charging led light up(can also use led notification for missedCalls,messages,whatsapp..........)

This program is cool with 0 memory and battery usage. I use this and perfect.
I have a Xiaomi mi band 2 too, you should buy one for 15 $ if dont like the first option.(glimpse notification)
Led is hardware option, what dont have Galaxy a40.
AOD is software solution, but for this prize Samsung Will not give this feature to a ,,budget'' phone.(Galaxy a40)

Try expandes Settings. Its in a40s Settings - there is an Option to to lighten up the display At notification

Unfortunately this option a piece of garbage. When you use your phone in your hand, this option Will blink the screen with yellow color or blink the Flash lite. If it just work when you dont use your phone this option Will be good.

2xP.S: After doing all this settings, you gonna have somewhere in background battery optimiser AOE, the only way to get rid of that is to go on Settings > Apps > tap on those 3 dots on the right corner > Special Access > Optimise battery usage > than Enable it for "Always on Edge" (it should disappear) > tap on the drop down menu > and select "All" > look for Always on Edge and disable it.
Oh, and "one more thing" over here
make sure u drag that slider to always:
after that reboot the phone.

with 100%, after a 12 hours shift (up to 16 hours with traffic jams) i still have ~60-55% at the end of the shift.

After some time you still recommend it? Battery usage is became better or worst?
50% of battery used for have an always on display for 12 its a lot if you haven't use I these hour.
