Whenever I restart phone the preferred network type says "invalid network mode (20) ignore" and if I change data network to LTE or 3G or 2G I get no data connection, any ideas how to fix this, thanks

And this on OxygenOS 2.2.1? In that case it sounds like a SIM card or operator error, does it fix itself after going in and out of flight mode?
I changed the network type from 10 to 12 in build prop and seems to have sorted it out, i remember this issue on my Note 4.

I'm getting mega problems network goes weird this can only be fixed by setting network to only wcdma which doesn't stick on reboot I think this Is how three uk work as they really only use 3g or above only, has Google thought this out and why have they blocked network settings on reboot
*#*#4636#*#*
Phone information, set network type, select what you want see if that helps.

Facts:
- OnePlus 2 (European Edition, Germany)
- CM13 (13.0-20160721-NIGHTLY-oneplus2)
- Provider: Telekom (Congstar)
My OPT refused to switch to anything more then EDGE (2G) a few days ago. First I though the network was down but after a few days I checked with other phones and only mine wont switch to 3G or LTE.
When I tried to cheange the "prefered network" toggle, I switched it to 2G and now I can't switch it back to 3G or LTE. The options are still there but when I select them they instantly switch back to 2G. Even in the Advanced menu that you can enter by dialing *#*#4636#*#* I can't change it. The setting is fixed to "GSM only".
When I search for network I can only find 2G networks. In the Results are only Vodafone 2G and Congstar 2G which is my provider.
Does any one else have a similar problem and maybe a solution?
UPDATE:
I reflashed the stock image and everything worked there. Then reflashed cm13 and now I have the same error again. So it seems to be a software bug in cm13 not a hardware bug.
UPDATE 2:
I flashed the modem from stock again. Still not working. Than I disabled the modem from the service menu and enabled it again. Then it worked for a few days but then I was back to only 2G. Now the reflashing trick doesn't seem to work anymore.
I have no idea how to fix this does anyone have a clue? I can't be the only one with this problem.

You can't have 4g/lte active on both SIM cards, so solution is to put phone in flight mode, switch your primary SIM to 4g/lte which should put your secondary into 2g mode and then you're set.

What he said.
That's how I fixed it. Still wondering why this is possible with the stock firmware. At least I didn't notice the problem with stock.

because on stock it does this automatically. You can change the network type of the SIM on which data is enabled.
The other one wont even show you the option
Hi there.
Is there any way, to toggle network mode from 4G to 2G without root?
The problem is, that when im at work or at home, my 4G signal strenght is really weak, so it drains my battery too fast. When i manually switch to 2g, the signal strenght is good.
Is there any way without root to toggle network mode with tasker or other apps, while my smartphone is connected to my home or office wifi?
I tried AutoTools w/ tasker and changed the preferred_network_mode1 according to this tutorial, but it did not seem to work:
https://www.reddit.com/r/tasker/comments/6aif23/tip_change_network_type_2g_3g_without_root/
any help appreciated.
cheers

im on the international/european unbranded version.
yes, i do have that option but i would still like to use 4g, when not connected to my home/office wifi.
I hear ya, I'm on sprint which is a bit of a pain because it'll reboot phone when switched, try dialing *#*#info#*#* from dialer and you should be able to change network type from there on that model(yes I know not exactly what your looking for), but that's only thing I can think of without having to root or reboot phone each time(I don't own that model so I don't know that particular phones software)

Hello!
I have a problem with LTE in my device. When I have it in 3G mode internet works ok (but it's 3G). When i have it in LTE/3G mode first it connects to 3G, next it tries to connect to LTE but fails and it's out of reach for few seconds, and then gets back to 3G. I figured out that it isn't SIM card issue (it works with other devices). I also checked that this phone supports 4G bands in my country. Is there any way to fix it?
Check your apns you may need change or make new one.

It worked. Thanks a lot!
Hello,
I am a new one plus owner and noticed that when 4g connection is lost it switches back to (H+ or 3g) which is normal. But when I go outside again I have to manually enter airplane mode and disable it to gain 4G again in the heart of Amsterdam.
I am currently running 9.0.11. Do some of you notice similar problems as my old phone works fine.
Open Phone app and dial *#*#4636#"#* goto Phone information. Make sure that Preferred Network type is set to LTE/UMTS auto (PRI). If it still does not work try switching the modem using QPST tools.

Download the app 4g fix
Set preferred network type.
LTE only
Hope it helps
Hi Isene, Did you get this problem resolved? I'm having a simular problem of a dropped 4g connection which won't reconnect. I'm on Tele2.
I tried switching the preferred network but that didn't work.
