I would like to recover photos, apps, etc. from my soft bricked device. It gets stuck on Samsung Galaxy S5 powered by android screen. I tried to install well extracted this in to the system root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-theme-support-s5-active-lollipopall-t3157583
Then the phone restarted and not it's not doing a thing. I am looking at: http://www.skipsoft.net/?page_id=1069 to see if I can back it all up. But I am not sure. I really need HELP!?
Phone Info:
Android: 5.0
Software Version: LRX21T.G900VVRU2BPB1
Model: SM-G900V
Root: It was just rooted but still running stock.
Not much was changed to it. If it was possible to fix root system files and/or reinstall firmware .zip (without loosing data) but adb in recovery.
Bump! Still need help... would like any (good) information.

I don't know if I have a 15 or 11... I can't check either. I am rooted but I have version PB1 and I don't know if it works with that one (since the bootloader was upgraded also on that version).

Sorry was out of town... I am trying "Method 3: ADB" since I can't boot into the phone. But I am having troubles with downloading "https://github.com/beaups/SamsungCID/blob/master/samsung_unlock" from step one. And also do I boot my device in fastboot, bootloader, or what since I can't get on my phone?
I want something like this: http://www.galaxys5update.com/unbri...00a-soft-brick-fix-restore-to-stock-firmware/ ... "Step 5a. Flash the AP file Only without losing user data"
So I won't loose system data for apps, wifi, downloads, etc.
So can I upgrade the device using Odin without loosing data since I am still have stock rom on the device and not a custom one?

All fixed I downloaded the stock firmware from sammobile that the phone was running and it did not wipe the phone... So everything was recovered!

I have an ATT I337 SG4,
I had my phone on stock rom and ran the casual by AdamOutler and got root and twrp recovery,
Now today i did a factory restet, and booted up normally, and the custom logo appeared on the splash screen on boot.
So then today , i tried unlocking my sim (carrier unlocking) using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283068
And it all worled out normally, after the last step, my phone went for a reboot but never booted up
Also i noticed that the custom and the unlock sign on the splash screen did not appear..
the phone was stuck on splash screen forever ,
So i booted onto recovery twrp, and did a full format..
and tried rebooting onto system again, when twrp told me an "your device does not seem to be rooted, do u want to install SuperSu"
My device was rooted before that reboot, so idk how did that come, neways, i said yes, and then i was stuck again on the splash screen,
Then i tried doing the same thing all over again but this time i chose not to install superSu when TWRP told me that i wasnt rooted ..
But the result was all the same..
The phone is still stuck on the booting "Samsung Galaxy S4 splash screen"
Then i tried flashing a custom rom from my sd card, JellyBlast , and there was no change in result, the phone is still stuck on the splash screen.
I would be really greatful if someone cold help me out of this ...
Thanks
Did you wipe system and then reboot before flashing a rom? Have you tried to odin the stock Rom? That's probably your best bet at this point.

Ok, first never flash anything again until you understand Odin and how to return to stock.
Go to the development forum and look for Adam Outlers stock Odin package and follow the instructions there.

why did this happen though ??
Okay, i flashed the ATT MD5 file via odin and there was no problem, i got a successfull PASS,
but the phone is yet stuck on the Samsung Galaxy s4 splash screen!
Is this because of the changes in the service mode for carrier unlocking it ?

A word of advice, when ever you wipe system your wiping the os off your phone. You have to flash a rom or restore a nandroid at that point. It has nothing to do with the sim unlock.

Oh!!! am sorry, i get it now
noob me!
And again, *you're
it's all good bro
most of us are just bored with this smoooth running phone and nothing else to do--
I don't take credit for this, i am just giving a guide on how i was able to gain root and recovery on the Sprint Note 4 with Lollipop.
Let me start by saying i was running the Hybrid-X series rom. Here were my steps to upgrade to Lollipop and keep all my data. If you are on stock, skip this step.
1. Flash the stock rom tar found here:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95853297432265112
2. Once you reboot, run system update and you will download and install Lollipop. When it installs and reboots, you should still have all your data and apps.
Once in lollipop, i followed our old root method which does work for lollipop found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/orig-development/sm-n910-cf-auto-root-t2897428
Now, to get recovery, you can do it 2 different ways.
1.download an app called flashify from the play store. Download the following file in .img form:
http://www.techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/trltespr
2. download the .tar file from above and flash in oodin.
Once you have both on your phone, open flashify, select recovery image and hit Yup! and then reboot. Your phone should reboot into TWRP.
At this point you will have all your data, root, and recovery. Enjoy
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for damage to your phone or voiding your warranty.
As a note, i would backup your data though any apps that you can. I wiped the data since the system seemed sluggish. When i restored thought titanium, there were a lot of apps that were crashing. Wiping the data to each app didn't work. I had to uninstall and re-install the app, but then you loose the data.
On a second note, once i wiped data in recover, lollipop was very nice and smooth.
Awesome good find have to try it out

I'm guessing once you flash the stock rom tar you get the stock recovery, that's why in step 3 you have to use flashify to get twrp back.

The only issue I have found so far, es file Explorer can no longer write to system or change file permissions. Bummer, I'll have to find another way to copy over my custom boot animations and sounds.

After the update, my sim is locked again. Galaxy Tools will no longer unlock for international use.
And it doesn't read the MSL either.

Flashed via flashify on the sprint variant. Took forever to boot into twrp, then when it finally did, touchscreen wouldn't respond so i couldn't do anything.
Everytime i reboot it keeps rebooting into twrp. So i guess im stuck until sprint twrp.img or sprint firmware is released. I can still get into DL mode so whatev.

there are 2 possibilities about flashing g900f firmware on your g900v:
1) it will refuse to flash
2) you will hardbrick
as I said earlier, please flash this to check whether your bootloader is locked or unlocked.

Yes I can, but the thing is that I want to keep it, coz it give me lte signals, on the other hand Verizon doesnt give me lte. Thts what happened on my note 3 Verizon, thts why I changed my device which I loved so much.
But here I m plus one coz I can unlock the bootloader and install any rom but not sure those rom supports the bandwith of my lte sim.
Any advice ? Also uploading the network mode selection.

Now I understand the situation.
I would NOT attempt to unlock the bootloader, just use FlashFire, unless you want AOSP. Try flashing a G900F rom on yours. I don't see why it would not work

Haven't taken the new firmware yet. Can I still root with engboot?

Was reported in the general section that you can't.
Where? Having trouble finding the reference. Thank you!

You cant... and the V4 bootloader prevents you from going back to rootable firmware. Sorry... unless a new roit method is discovered, your **** out of luck
I just rooted PH1... Follow all guides as usual. No reason to downgrade to PG5.

But will Odin go back to older firmware? Or are you stuck on PH1 bootloader? Thx for confirmation.
Probably stuck, but you should still be able go between the latest U and V firmwares. I am giving up on a non engboot root method. Sammy signed that kernel so it should always flash and permit root. But, that's not a well educated guess...

It's stuck on PH1 but it can still be rooted. I don't mind.

This has been the most active root thread for Verizon that works for S7 and S7E:

You can't. The only reason we can is because we have a leaked engineering kernel that allows root. Sadly Verizon killed root on the S6 about a year ago.

Hello, I just tried rooting my verizon s7 edge on the ph1 update using the link someone on this thread provided to someone else and am now stuck in a bootloop with the verizon logo stuck on the screen. How did you achieve root on yours? by using the same steps? Also, what do you think could have possibly went wrong and how would I be able to fix this? Your help would be much appreciated.

If you're stuck on the boot logo, you HAVE TO factory reset the device. When I rooted this happened to me and after doing the factory reset, it worked like a charm

Oh wow.... haha thank you. I was really trying to avoid doing the factory reset but I figured since I will be doing a clean install anyways then why not. lol So it worked the second time you tried to root?

When I was stuck, I did and the factory reset and it booted up right and I didn't have to re-flash the kernel. If dosen't boot up right away, re-flash stock firmware, don't dis able anything, then flash the kernel and it will work .

Oh ok, well hopefully it boots right up. lol So I really haven't been into rooting and flashing roms for awhile now so Id thought I give it a try on this phone. What would you say would be best for performance/stability/battery life as far as roms go? Or do you just stick with stock? i do not do a whole lot on my phone and I also don't really use much of the features that came along with the s7 edge. i just use it for light gaming/social media/picture taking. So I guess what I am asking is what is your recommendation?
