Now i am sure that people have thought about this in the past but i searched the interwebs and have not seen anyone actually post this. I decided to spend my lunch time putting my G1 under the knife.
First of all. I am not responsible in any way for whatever YOU (the end user) does to your phone. Im not just a ass hat wanting people to break they're phones, but do this at your own risk.
now.
anyone that has ever been unable to hear the conversation normally (with your phone at your ear no speakerphone) might be able to benefit from this.
If you remember the 2g iphone trick of making the speakers louder this is essentially the same thing. get yourself a paper clip and bend one of the sides out so you have a poker. clean all the ear gungle out. then from the far left of the ear piece poke GENTLY through then sorta dig it out so you dont leave pieces behind. in the center of the hole you will run into a more solid piece leave it alone when you hit it. then you can repeat from just a touch left of the LED.
I did this and went outside my building (i work right next to a major freeway) for the first time i was able to hear my call VERY clearly. I was very excited.
okay now for the second tip.
This one is pretty useful for people who put the phone to their left ear. reason being is (at least for me) my finger always finds a way to leave prints on the camera cover.
simple fix.
take the battery cover off and use the rounded part of the paper clip you may have used earlier. get a square of Toilet paper and put a little force onto the camera cover from the INSIDE OF THE BATTERY COVER.
You will notice on the front that you can use your fingernail to peel the piece off.
The pictures i will add are at 1mp so most people can see them in full size on their monitors without having to zoom out/in or whatever.
once again. use at your own risk. let me know what you think!
The first two are with the cover on, and the second two are without.
Uhm I think you posted the wrong pictures or something because that is def. not a G1 haha.

Actually, those are pictures demonstrating the difference with the camera cover on and off
not really worth it unless you got extra time and my lunch time is not... juss plain but yea nicce lil mods might try them out and post my results
umm nice system btw
Ohhh I see. I didn't read in your post that you were adding pictures to compare the difference, but geez it sure does make one. What about protection though? won't the lens be exposed?

the camera eye has another cover over it. ive been using it this way now for a few days. doesnt seem all that more exposed.
That extra cover on the camera broke on my G1 a couple months ago. There's only one problem with this idea. If the back cover gets scratched it's pretty cheap to replace, if the camera lens gets scratched it's not so cheap.
Nice Fireberds btw. Looks like you keep your equipment clean. I have a similar playground here at the office
My fiance and I originally tried to order the black Note 4s, but we could only order white at the time.
My white one was available last Thursday and all went smoothly but Best Buy made a mess of her
order so we ended up with a black N4 from Verizon for her. We then came up with the idea to swap
covers and we like the results. Now we're looking for clear cases that will accommodate the mic
holes on the Verizon N4 while still allowing us to appreciate our simple, yet beautiful & most likely not original
(though original to us) works of art.
PS I've never had a female share my taste in phones so this is the first time I've actually able to do
this. It's been a very bonding experience. LOLS! And she did not make me type this part.
I like it!
I'm doing the same but with a white spigen case on Black GN4.
I'm personally considering buying a gold frame to replace the black one once they are available on eBay.
Would be black with gold trim, very nice in my opinion.
Thanks! And you have good taste!

We may end up going your route after all as I hate not having a case on it (at least at first). Still uncertain which cases work for the Verizon model though.

Exactly. Except this would cost ~$10 (we'll know once frames start getting sold on eBay).

It's actually super easy to replace! If you watch a Note 4 disassembly video, you'll see that the aluminum frame can be replaced simply by unscrewing the back and undoing the clips. If you'd like to do the same, all you have to do is get a small screw driver and a guitar pick (or plastic knife, or whatever will undo the side plastic clip).
Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OReK7M_6zg0
This guy takes the whole thing apart, but you'll just need to watch up to 4:30 to see what I'm talking about.
This is also useful information for anyone who scratches their camera lens or dings up the frame and wants to replace it for resale or something.

If so, how did it turn out?
Haven't done it yet- I can only find the part through authorized samsung part resellers at the moment and they are trying to charge $100 for it. I am waiting for the chinese manufacturers to sell straight from the factory ($10-15) on eBay. But it will be a direct replacement, super easy to do.

Good luck. Post pics after you do it please!

Guys just a quick update for anyone interested in a gold frame. It looks like this one is compatible with the Verizon Note 4...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261701823333
I determined this by downloading the image with entire inside of the frame visible (flat, not the side angle view), and scaling it on screen to the size of my note 4. I then lined it up and it looks like it fits the Verizon mic holes. I believe its because they are the same as the international [N910F] holes. For $60, it's still a bit too much for me, but for some people that really want a black/gold or white/gold look and are willing to pay a little bit for it, it's definitely a great option! Also, it will keep you from scratching the frame that came with the phone for better resale value later.
I haven't seen one that's compatible with the T-Mobile/AT&T version's holes yet. Will keep you all updated.
I did the exact same thing today. I don't use cases and wanted a different look on my Note. Actually wanted just the black back with "Samsung" on it but I found none on Amazon that would let me use my Prime and I have need for instant gratification. So, I went with the black Verizon back on my Frost White Verizon Note. LOVE IT!
Thanks for posting this! I was really curious to see how it would like and it turns out it actually looks quite nice!
Just thought you all would like to take a little look under the cover of the Blackberry Priv. Apologies for image quality and lack of complete disassembly, I didn't want to burn my bridges for the warranty just for opening the back cover. If any of you are braver than I and feel like delving deeper, taking the cover is very easy. Just pry the left and right sides away with your fingernails so it is loose. Remove the SD card and SIM card tray. Then very carefully pry the top of the cover away from the device. Then simply slide the slightly tilted cover off the bottom, away from the speakers. From there you can see all the goods! I was just curious if I could find a discernible difference between the Samsung S series antennas and the Priv, for the sake of future MFT compatibility. It seems as though they both have the same antennas so the hardware difference must be chip-level. Bummer. Also you can see why the right side gets so hot with the battery and antennas sitting there.

...Giggedy!!
The front bottom is taken up by the speaker assembly, it's relatively large; it fills the entire bottom lip of the back case.
Do you have a US or EU model?
Thanks. I've been waiting for internal shots.

I was thinking about opening the back and filling the empty space that plague the non-wireless charging variants of this phone

Can you test the speaker? Reports online, including my own Priv, only the left works(Mono), but in this picture it shows the Priv having both Left and Right speakers. Can you take a picture of the front of the phone where the speakers are?
I'm confused as to why they would include L & R stereo speakers but only the Left works, is the R disabled? or did we all get Priv's that are defective. I had a feeling the whole bottom was a speaker grill, and this confirms it......
The whole bottom is definitely not a speaker. It's only the left third or so.

I also want to know the answer to this. Are units defective? It definitely shows two so why does everyone only hear mono sound from the left?
I don't think there's anything of the sort going on. Based on the pictures, since I'm not confident enough to peel the back off my own Priv, it looks like the thing you see on the right (left in the pic) is the control board for the 3.5mm jack combined with the mic, which presumably exists down there, since there's no other spot at the bottom of the unit where a mic could possibly be. It definitely only has the one speaker, but as far as I'm concerned, it's pretty exceptional for a phone. At least, I have no qualms with the sound from it, certainly much louder than any other phone I've had.
Forgot to add, I'm also confident that there's only one speaker because using Poweramp and toggling the Mono output setting, as well as the balance from Left to Right, everything only sounds like it comes from the one speaker.
Sorry guys, my mistake. I hadn't even tested my speakerphone until today. I based my assumption on the fact there is a baffle material under the span of the case baffle and the "L" and "R" label on the plastic assemblies on the board. I hadn't tried to disassemble it further. There is someone on YouTube that will give a complete teardown in a couple of days so if I don't see it posted I'll crack my phone open again to investigate.
That escalated quickly

Just remove from the case and pull plastic button inserts out. Take a mini philips screwdriver like for eyeglasses and scrape the little piece of plastic out on both sides. There will be 2 on left and 2 on right then use super glue to adhere the plastic buttons directly to where the little plastic pieces were above and below the buttons. It works for me and no indentions.

I think they addressed the problem because the rivets on the one I received the other day were flat as heck and did not protrude like photos I've seen. There wasn't anything to cut with an exacto even if I wanted to. It's still a plastic piece of junk though ($40?!) and I decided to just use a pocket pouch...brings me back to the G1 days

What in the name of cobwebs happened here!
OS I was asking myself how to make my S6 stand out in the crowd and now I had the briliant idea to make a transparent back. It's accually quite easy. Frist you will Need to remove the back glas on your Galaxy S6 then take a sharp razor blade or any thing sharp that you are comfortable working with. Then slide under the layer of film and look on the other side to see if you can see the knife / blade. If you do push it further in until you can grab it and pull it off. Then I would recommend taking alcohol or even nail polish remover and wipe the left over adhesive off. If you want clean the inner part of the phone and remove the serialnumber sticker. After that try to make the side the film was on as clean as you can possibly make it. Place your replacement adhesive o the phone not the glas and place the glas back on the phone. There gust push it down on the adhesive and it wont go off anny more.
Don't forget to post a Picture of your Battery Cover!

An original idea could be put something like a draw or a photo behind the glass...do you remember 3200?
It seems awfully dangerous especially if there is a risk of which the back cover can come off.

Its not hard just give it a try and it looks awesome.
Hi all!
Been noticing that there is a gap at the top of the phone between the glass and the metal frame. I noticed it when I make a call and my hair gets always stuck in the gap and gets pulled out
Just wondering if anybody else has this issue and will it not be waterproof at all? And should I take the phone back?
Thanks!
i'd take it back without question and don't leave the store (if you do it instore) until you have a phone with no gap
Mine is on the bottom.

correct, I got the 2 mixed up. I have no problem with either issues also but I do read a lot of light leak on all different forums.
I got no gap but feel that top frame is not straight. Feels bit curved from side left to side right. Almost non distinguishable but people with ocd can obviously spot it. I need s7 edge technical drawings to confirm it. If it's design or phone fault.
Can you post a picture? Mine has no visible gap, but I do know that the hair thing has happened to me on other phones. Also, the glass to metal frame will never be perfectly flush, but it shouldn't be noticeable.

Well the shop where I bought it has a really good service record (coolblue.nl. In the shop they agreed this was not OK, I opened a couple of phones in shop and they all had different sizes of gaps. So i'm not sure that the new batch doesn't have it, maybe it is OK according Samsungs margin of error.
Yeah I myself have had 5 handsets opened in CPW and all had same issues in various places. I have returned 2 myself even my one now has same issue but not as bad. I'm just living with it now because I fed up at returning handsets and dealing with crap customer service. This is how I noticed the light coming through sides in other thread.

Post the youtube code, the part after the '=' in the URL and I'll edit the video into your post.
Guys I don't think that's actually a light bleed. It's more like a reflection of the light from the glass to the metal frame. My glass has zero gaps at one of the sides and very small ones at the other side - well it has equal amount of light reflection from both sides.
