Anyone in the uk got their Yota working with Android Pay?
I can install it, but get:
"Android Pay can't be used:
Google is unable to verify that your device or the software running on it is Android compatible"
I'm running Yota stock eu1.187a
Perhaps its a security patch level issue?
Ta
I have been unable to use Android pay since the april update. confirmed that it's failing the safetynet check.
I'm in the UK, recently bought my Yotaphone from Gearbest in China.
It was running a Chinese ROM, but I flashed it to the latest RU 134 ROM.
The latest Google Play version of Android Pay installed and setup no problem today.
I've just used it with a Nationwide debit card to pay in Morrisons with no issues ?

If you plan on buying a new XT1097, you probably get the AT&T edition, which is stuck on Android 5.1.
Even though it may be advertised as 'carrier unlocked', the bootloader cannot be offically unlocked, so you cannot easily root it or install other firmware. And it's loaded with carrier stuff, too.
It is still receiving security updates, though.
* There is a hack to get it rooted and bootloader unlocked, but it is paramount that you do not accept the security updates.
If you accept the security update from october, you are really stuck on Android 5.1 (for now)!
After following the KingRoot root + Sunshine unlock ($25) procedures, you can install TWRP and flash your device.
If you want official Andriod 6.0 firmware, I think you could flash e.g. the VICTARA_RETAR_XT1097_5.1 download from firmware.center and have it automatically updated to 6.0.
Some other advice:
* To keep the battery healthy, better not use Google Navigation or Google Now (called 'Feed' in the Google search app). At least not while on Android 5.1.
For navigation, Waze is a good battery-friendly alternative.
* Disable all apps you don't need
* On my new clean XT1097, Google Play Services kept crashing, so much that I couldn't log into the play store, and Play Services could not update itself.
I downloaded and installed the latest version from apkmirror.com to solve this. You need the '238'-variant, if you're on Android 5.1.
* If you buy the 32GB variant, be aware that it has just 20.4 GB available. About 4GB is wasted on 4 empty 1GB partitions!
I have a stock G950F, unlocked International Version, purchased thru Amazon. I've been waiting for the Daydream Update, no luck, so I tried to flash the latest Australian ROM, which supposedly has Daydream support, using Odin. Result - phone won't boot, with a message saying I had to reflash original stock ROM using Smart Switch. That did work, but I'm back to no Daydream support.
Should I be able to flash an S8 ROM from another region, and if so how? I don't want to root my phone.
Thx, Gus
Just be patient. But check in setting/apps -- show system apps and see if you can see an app called Google VR services, if you see if you have daydream support
Just, what is your current security patch? July? I'm on July and I have daydream support (Switzerland)
My security patch was June 1, so no Daydream, but .... I figured out what to do. Per comments on forums, I re-flashed the latest Australian ROM with Odin, but used CSC, not Home_CSC, which allows me to change the Region Code (to Australia XSA). Re-flash was successful, the Australian ROM has security patch July 1, and the new ROM does in fact have Daydream support!
My previous region code was DTM (Germany/T-Mobile), not sure why as it is an "unlocked International Version", purchased thru Amazon US, but the phone is in fact unlocked. Hopefully in the future my XSA phone will get OTA updates faster than when it was a DTM phone.
Hey guys, first time posting so I hope I'm in the right sub.
Here is the thing:
- I bought a phone from a reseller which was sold to me as an SM-G930F with Android Oreo
- When it came home, I noticed it was running Marshmallow, and with further research it appears that the phone is actually the chinese SM-G9300 & it doesn't allow OTA updates
- I got a refund but I could keep the phone
The actual firmware is G9300ZCU2APG2
So the question is: am I able to upgrade that SM-G9300 to Oreo? If so, do I have to install a custom ROM running Oreo, flash a european firmware (or custom?) to allow the update?
I need some help.
I got a Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium, it is a Chinese version and doesn't come with Google Play (Play Services, Play Store, etc). I've been trying to install the required packages and been having some issues.
First, I've heard I need the following packages:
Google Account Manager,
Google Services Framework,
Google Play Services,
Google Play Store
this list was originally posted for a different android device, so I'm not sure if it is the same requirements or if there are additional.
I've installed various packages and versions but I get errors.
1) Can someone who owns a Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium (or has access) with Google Play to provide required packaged names and versions that are compatible?
2) Does anyone know if those packages are the right requirements? Is there others that I don't know about?
3) Does anyone know if Sony (or in general, other manufacturers) have something that prevents Google services from running properly? Like, maybe because it was released in China (and Google services are not allowed), is the phone has something installed that stops it? (Does this kind of thing happen?)
If something like that happens, I'm guessing root or something like flashing the ROM to a different/international version..? something like that? I'm not familiar.. can someone provide some info please?
Additional information for what I've installed.

I installed Droid android info app, The cpu architect is arm64-v8a. I downloaded the above Google Services from apkmirror and installed them.
I tried the following versions:
(**note: below version, I went to Bell store and looked at their XZ2 models, and grabbed the versions they were using. They didn't have a XZ2 Premium model so I'm not sure if there's a difference or not)
-Google Account Manager 7.1.2 (the XZ2 model didn't have this installed)
-Google Services Framework v8.0.0-4147944
-Google Play Services v14.3.66 (040408-213742215)
-Google Play Store v12.3.19-all[0][PR]218276083 and v12.3.30-all[0][PR]219141239
Usually I install Google Account Manager first, then Google Services Framework, once I install Google Play Services, I get an error that constantly pops up "Google Services Framework has stopped" and keeps stopping.
I don't know if there is something else that's preventing them from working properly (like manufacturer thing?), do I have the wrong version, or maybe I need some other additional services to work properly???
How did you end up with the Chinese version. You can try flashing the firmware to a different region that has the Google play store. I have the Hong Kong version and I flashed the US version
Sent from my H8166 using Tapatalk
I have HK 8166 and don't have this issue, flash it with a different FW
Thanks for the replies.
I bought it from official sony site in China. I use the phone in both China and Canada, but everything in Canada depends on Google Services..
Anyways, I haven't found proof or documentation, but I am pretty sure Sony has added something that prevents Google Services to run on the CN version of their ROMs. But I got this conclusion based on testing (installing different apk versions, etc..)
If anyone has official info or way to confirm, it would be great to know (and reference on how to find out in the future).
So I think the only ways are either rooting or flashing to HK or US firmware as mentioned above.
When you flash the firmware, do you need to unlock the bootloader?
I understand that in most cases, you need to unlock bootloader to install ROMs not signed by company (Sony), like custom ROMs..
But in this case, you are flashing ROMs provided/signed by Sony (HK, US, CN, etc ROMs for the H8166 model), so is unlocking bootloader needed?
Also just wondering, does Sony officially provide the firmware ROM images? (maybe for backup/restore or something)?
I only know Developer Sony (developer.sony.com) provides AOSP images but I didn't see anything else from them.
I am currently using a workaround, which I don't need to root or flash FW. It is using Google Space (They renamed to X Space recently), which is an app that is like a Virtual VM + VPN. Google Services is installed in that environment, and apps are downloaded/installed in that environment too, which allows to run with Google Services. It's not bad so far.
Just flash, as i did, the uk fw (for example) with flashtool. Pick the version you can find in my discussion link in the previous page. You don't need to unlock bootlader to flash another region fw.
Hey all sorry to bother you but I can't install the update for my OPPO F1s. System Update states it is the latest version although it isn't, when I press the "Features" button it says "No Version Info"
When I try to manually update through recovery it states the same thing. I haven't updated the phone before as it's never asked even though I bought it the week the OPPO F1s was released in Australia. As far as I can tell it (With my extremely limited knowledge) it seems as though I don't have an official stock rom on my phone although I've never tampered with it.
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated as although not urgent it does worry me as I realised I may have bought a phone with some kinda of virus on it without realising and I've used it for a couple of years.
#UPDATE#
Turns out the firmware is oddly labelled but I figured out that the phone had been updated with stock 6.0 rom and the 5.1 rom has been updated since but the 6.0 was considered beta, hence so feature info.
Tracked down the latest 6.0 update I could find and installed it and BAM phone is back to normal with the plus-side of having a clean install. Sorry to bother you all with this.
Which firmware you have installed?
A1601EX_11.A.37_20190227 is it this?
Oppo Customer Care (India) advised users of F1s that no OTA update for 6.0 would be pushed and anyone wishing to update will have to go to service centre. Did that and it seems they too have installed the beta 6.0 ROM which says no version info. Version number : A1601EX_11_D.102_170923 (Security Patch June 2017)
Apparently the stable 6.0 update available for Indian users is version : A1601EX_11.A.37_20190227. But I am not sure whether it will update through recovery. Will try and let you know
i know two years have passed but im facing the same problem and i cant find the latest update of 6.0, can you link me there?pls
