I use my 6P to connect to my Mazda Car and everything is working fine, no dropped connections etc.
The issue is when I use the control buttons on the steering wheel (skip songs) nothing happens.
My music player is Google Play Music, and it works fine on other phones I've used recently, S5 and LG G2.
Is there a setting somewhere that I need to switch on to accept remote commands?
Just came here to post the same thing. Prior to March update, had almost zero BT problems. Now, the phone only sporadically responds to inputs from car stereo BT, BT headphones, or BT speakers. Extremely aggravating. Happens with PocketCasts, Pandora, and Google Music.
I just picked up an Android Wear watch and I noticed that even when the phone will not respond to BT inputs listed above, it will still respond to BT inputs from the watch.

I bought a bluetooth car kit to play music with. When I first paired the device to my phone, all 3 the media buttons worked (play/pause, forward, and back). The next time I used the kit only the play/pause button worked.
Knowing Samsung sucks at everything, I didn't waste my time disconnecting/reconnecting. I plugged the phone into the ADB interface and watched the system log in DDMS. What I found was really confusing.
I plugged the bluetooth kit into a 12v source and connected the 2 devices. I played some music off my phone and watched the log as I presses some buttons. In the log, the button presses were actually showing up in the log with the right scan numbers but the media player just doesn't respond to anything other than play/pause.
If I try different combinations of connecting/disconnecting I can get the media buttons to work but 90% of the time they wont. WTF is happening T_T
I have not had that trouble with my bluetooth head unit. I have been using Pandora and Mixzing. I only have issues with audio dropout and it seems to disappear (stop dropping) after the connection has been used for maybe 10-15 minutes.
It worked perfectly with my Samsung Omnia.
I found out that the bluetooth controls only work when the media app is in the foreground. If I'm on the home screen the controls will be ignored. If I have pandora open on the screen, pandora will be controlled.
This is annoying and I wonder why nobody else is having this problem.
I understand your frustration. And if I may, I would like to add this question:
Does anyone have a handle on the interrelationship between the Epic 4G, wireless headsets, and AVRCP music players?
My rooted Samsung Epic 4G is running 2.1 and has the stock ROM.
I’m looking for a compatible MP3/Wireless headset combination using either the Motorola S9-DH or S10-DH, or the Rocketfish RF-MAB2. So far, I am unable to do everything the headsets say I should be able to do, that is, answering a call and having the player resume (both headsets get this far) and also controlling the MP3 player, i.e., allowing for track skipping, pausing, etc.
In short, I do not have control over an MP3 player’s basic functions from a wireless headset.
I have tried both the Motorola and the Rocketfish. While the Motorola does not see an MP3 player at all, the Rocketfish does control an MP3 player’s volume level.
The following MP3 players were tried: stock Epic player, Winamp, PowerAMP and MortPlayer Audio.
I am open to suggestions. I am not wed to the Motorola or Rocketfish, but I am comfortable with the way they sound and fit.
OR...would you buy the headset you like, work the MP3 player manually (not a good idea while driving) and tough it out until Froyo addresses the issue of Bluetooth connectivity?
Thank you.
Hey all,
I tried pairing my Xoom with my 2010 VW GTI, so I could play my music files through my stereo, but I couldnt get it to work. Under Bluetooth settings, it shows "Connected to media audio," but when I play music, I get nothing on my stereo. I've tried unpairing and re-connecting, rebooting my device, but no go. Has anyone else had issues with audio playing through bluetooth in their car?
not with the xoom but what i noticed is that your bluetooth software that is in the car would go flaky and in some cars wouldnt even work. not even simple contact list syncing.
i therefore tend to say that the software in the car is prolly causing the issues.
In the 2010 model, it doesn't sync the contact list, or show the currently playing artist/title on the display. It is basically just a BT headset. I tether my Incredible to the car all the time without issue (oh, and yes I made sure the Xoom was synched, not the INC).
Hello,
I have recently upgraded from the HTC One M7, however I am finding my qualms that are making this Note4 a pain in the arse.
When I get into my car, I have the Bluetooth automatically sync to my stereo. This syncs my phone, and contacts and also allows Bluetooth audio and Pandora capabilities. However, I like to use my phone for navigation and sometimes listen to the radio without using any bluetooth audio.
I have not found a way to keep the Phone synced up with the stereo, yet to play the audio from navigation(Waze) from the Phone. Every time it connects to the stereo, the phone output sends everything to bluetooth. And when I am listening to the radio, I don't hear anything at all. No directions, notifications, ect as its still sending them to bluetooth even though I am not listening to bluetooth.
I never had this issue on my HTC one, does anybody know of a solution?
I have found that while the S7 connects fine and works beautifully, only the play and pause buttons work on the connected device. This is on every bluetooth device I own. 2 bluetooth speakers, one JBL and one off brand. 2 pair of bluetooth headphones, one swage, one pioneer. Lastly my car stereo.... Every device works fine for bluetooth audio, but it I press the fast forward, next button, back buttons on the device the phone is connected to they do nothing. Anyone else have this issue?
Hi,
I recently got my LG G6. I'm really satisfied with it. Especially the camera and the performance , but I have a problem with my hands-free equipment in my car .
Everytime I want to use the phone as audio source e.g. Spotify I would have to un-pair and pair the devices again .
I have a Volkswagen Passat 2014 with a RNS 315 and original hands-free equipment.
I can pair the devices without any problem. Also the "connected with audio equipment" option will be displayed on the phone. After a few seconds this option disappears in the overview of the connection details, only "use hands-free" and "sync phone book" will be displayed on the phone. Only in the overview of paired devices I can see that it is connected to the car as audio source. I can use the steering wheel buttons to switch between the tracks and the current title displays on the car radio.
The problem:
After the phone disconnects form the car (remove the key) and it reconnects gain (starting the car again) the phone do not recognize the A2DP protocol anymore and it just connects as hands-free without the ability to play music over the car speakers. I can use the steering wheel controls to switch the music title and the car also displays the current title, but the audio comes from the phone and not from the car speakers. But the car displays the phone as hands-free and audio source.
I had no problem with my Nexus 5X. I have already tried to clear the bluetooth cache and data. I have already tried with an other LG G6 and there was the same problem.
Is there any way to enforce A2DP even if the phone do not recognize it anymore?
The phone software is V11g-EUR-XX with security patch level 6th November 2017.
I hope anyone can help me, because I don't want to send it back.
Same issue here. I have to unpair and pair again if I want media playback to the car. I have tried pretty much every solution I came across and nothing worked apart from pairing again. Having said that, I think the problem is both with the RNS315 and the G6. I had a similar issue with the Note 3 but disconnecting and reconnecting was enough so I was using trigger to get around it. I have a small hope the oreo update may fix it.
