Not a developer so take it easy. Was wondering if anyone can make a YouTube mod where music will keep playing even if you hit the power button. Thanks

There are apps on the market that do this. Not sure of the names off the top of my head right now, sadly, but they're on the Play Store.
Sent by pocket technology.
Try this modified Youtube app:
http://db.tt/TwJYegfD
I found it from the Omega ROM
This app let's you listen to videos with the screen off and even let's you download videos if you want. But for some reason, you may or may not be able to sign into your YouTube account.
You need to push this app to /system/app and change permissions to rw-r--r--, and then reboot. If you already have a YouTube app in /system/app then you will have to delete your current one (or just rename it). If your existing YouTube app was installed from the Play Store then this one should not conflict with it. This one has a blue icon.

I can't remember exactly where I found this apk. I believe it was from the GSii forums, as part of a custom ROM.

But for some reason, you may or may not be able to sign into your YouTube account.
You can just install this app like a regular app, and it will not conflict with an existing YouTube app. This one has a blue icon.
EDIT:
This modified app comes from the Omega ROM

I tried it but I get a parsing error when trying to install. I'm trying this on one of the jelly bean ports so that could be why. I'll try placing in system and see if that helps

Oops, my mistake. You do indeed need to place it in /system/app/ to install. My above post should have the correct instructions now.
Also on JB, at least on the SDK port I'm using, the pre-installed Youtube app is installed in /system. That means you'll have to remove or rename it if you want to use the modified version I posted (unless someone knows of a way for them to coexist?). And for whatever reason, the YT app on the Play store is listed as incompatible with JB.
Hi
After updating to 4.1.2, I got a "Samsung Mobile" folder in mobile bookmarks in Chrome.
Anyone know how to delete that?
I dont get the delete option when I hold on the folder.
Phone is not rooted.
Me too, bloody annoying!
You could remove it with titanium backup and then install from the market.

Phone is not rooted, and will not be. (Company phone with software installed to check for root)
Chrome is already installed from the market.
I'm wondering how Samsung is allowed to make permanently active bookmarks in a 3rd party program.
There must be a way round it, i tried deleting cashe and app data, uninstalled updated but nothing removes it without rooting!
I cant believe samsung has done this! very annoying it pop ups when i want to access my bookmarks
The answer is here:

View the applications in Settings/Application Manager/All. Best viewed in landscape to see the full application name.

It's a system app in 4.1.2. It's called chromewithbrowser.apk in the system folder. Then it updates from the market just like Gmail, maps etc.

Hi. I am planning to purchase the PRO key for Titanium Backup but I need to understand some things better before I buy:
1. Will the pro key allow me to restore the apps and link them to the Market? (Meaning they will show up in "My apps" section in Google Play Store and I will be able to update them as usual, they would act as I have downloaded them from the store)
2. Referring to the above question, is it only possible with the PRO key? What will happen if I restore with the free app? Nothing will show up in "My Apps" section in Google Play Store?
3. After I backup, should I leave the backup on the device?
Also, for some reason Adaway doesn't block all the ads (I am not sure it even block ads). Is there any tutorial to use it? I have downloaded the latest hosts file from the app itself.
Thanks!
1 yes
2 with the free version you'll have to hit the install button for every app. I recommend getting the pro version it will give you more options
3 leave the backup on your phone
Google removed ad blocking apps from the market

Okay so just to be sure, restoring with the PRO key is just like downloading directly from the store?
And about AdAway, I installed the apk but it doesn't block certain apps. Is there something I can do to make it block all ads?

Yes it will be just like you downloaded from play store. I noticed adaway not blocking like it use to I think the dev needs to update it

For me I don't get any ads over Wifi but I get them while on Mobile data. It's quite annoying because I'm not really used to them since adblock seemed to work fine on my HD2 and even on this phone on 4.2.1 stock rooted.
I think I accidentally downloaded a hosts file to data/data/hosts. How can I revert this (if I should)?
For adblocking, I often use firewall to block internet connections (wifi/data) of the applications, and also using a hosts file, too. It works
Hi
I plan to use a Nexus Player as Media Center with Plex App. I would need it to autostart at start of Nexus Player and in case of crash that Plex app restarts by itself. I would need the Nexus Player to keep stuck running Plex and that's it. Is it possible if I install CM12*on it ?*Looks to be impossible with official rom
Thanks
Vincèn
Wrong section for this.
U can use an automation app to do that, on stock or cm12. Llama, or tasker will do it.
Target home launcher. Set Plex as your home launcher. I do this with Kodi and it works wonderfully

No, it's an app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bh.android.TargetHomeLauncher&hl=en
You'll have to find the apk and sideload it, though. Not sure your level of experience with that but there are multiple threads and methods.

No big deal, the question is to know if such system survives the automatic updates of the app selected as default home ! Any experience with that ?

It hasn't changed on me unless I've explicitly changed it myself, which is easy to do. The only caveat is that setting Plex as your home app might restrict your ability to access other apps, including the leanback launcher since it does not offer an interface option to select them. I don't know how you'd work around this to get at say, the NP settings menu. In Kodi, you can go to Apps > Android Apps and then launch NP apps from there, but Plex is only going to show you your media.

just because the playstore says something is incompatible does not mean it wont work if you sideload it.

Hi,
I don't understand why only few app are available in Play store ? Is it only a problem of non-touch device ?
For an app like Connectbot (as JuiceSSH), touch device is not required I think, so why is it not present in play store ?
Thanks.
Being a non touch device is part of it. Also some games and apps are also exclusive to certain android tvs.
Many apps including paid (provided your play account has the app license) apps can be sideloaded if you extract the apk from another Android device. Sideloaded touch apps usually need a mouse. I prefer using a Logitech k400r for sideloaded apps.
Also devs need to specifically mark the app is compatible with the forge in the play store. Another issue is the on device app browsing and search of the play store is pretty weak. You may have better luck searching and installing via a desktop browser

Thanks you for this details. I will try some apks (and search in browser, but it's in my browser I saw incompatibility for SSH apps).
I've a probably stupid question but... how can you use a k400r to emulate touch ? Using a touchpad is like always putting your finger on screen :/

The device registers a touch only when you click on the touchpad/mouse.
Yeah I would love for then to step up the apps. Firetv is Android but they have more apps available
