Hello,
I am able to successfully root my Note 4 N910C but later on I lose the root access. Following are the steps I did.
1. Flashed latest Marshmallow (6.0.1) from sammobile.com through ODIN.
2. Flashed the following root file from autoroot.chainfire.eu through ODIN.
samsung SM-N910C treltexx trelte universal5433 exynos5 MMB29K.N910CXXU2DPCB 6.0.1 27 967 186 Download e117e8cd8a4ee0eda1fa935fae758e4f 385 972
However after using it for a few days I think a received a security patch (Auto updates was on at that time) and subsequently lost root access.
I tried flashing the root file again through ODIN but no luck.
So I formatted and tried flashing the root file again and this time it worked fine and the first thing I did was turn off auto updates.
Everything worked fine until around 30 minutes I lost root access again. (Supersu said it cannot update binaries)

Could you please help me fix this problem?
Same issue, I had autoupdates disabled though... I suddenly lost Root TODAY. IDK how. I remember using Titanium Backup yesterday to make backups, so it was definitely working last night for me.
That is what happened to me
SM-N910C 6.0.1
Hey, I installed Hani's H-Vitamin kernel for 6.0.1 and it restored root for me. Thought you might want to know. I think we're losing Root on Stock due to an updated SE-Linux policy which overwrites patches made by SuperSu to work on an enforcing kernel, but using this custom kernel on Stock seems to solve the issue.

Oh, yes, sorry, the link I meant to post was: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/development/kernel-h-vitamin-t3355879
I have the N910C on 6.0.1 as well.
Flashing this kernel will enable proper root, it seems Samsung has sent a silent security update that disables root.
Do you have TWRP installed? If so, flashing the kernel is easy, just select the Install option in TWRP and choose the kernel zip file, and install it.

Yeah I did do that. No one actually explains what to download and how to use it. You would had thought that I didn't try. I did use odin and flashed cwm and expected it to work, guess what it didn't. Upon entering recovery a error popped out and I was welcomed by the samsung recovery page. Hence i'm here looking for a way to root and get superuser that actually works.

You see, there are very well explained and , yes, they worked!
Well I followed the guide posted here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529064
Got myself a clockwork from here : http://www.filefactory.com/file/5wsoycfxn7i5/CWM_6.0.4.6_Non-Touch_GT-I9506.tar
Flashed it via odin. Was hoping that it would finally work, but bam. Got an error again.
Any help at this point would be appreciated.
Cheers.
You didnt flashed the right version, its 6.0.4.8, and you didnt unchecked auto reboot. So, you didnt do it how the guide says.

So far I've trayed towelroot and flashing older kernel and then rooting with towelroot, but 4.4.2 is not booting on stock 4.3 kernel so I'm in dead end.
Any other methods?

Once updated to 4.4.2, you cannot downgrade to 4.3! You can only use Auto root from DeHwak thread. Towelroot doesnt work on 4.4.2 on i9506! There is no root option for i9506 without tripping knox!
Well, on some phones, you can downgrade easly. For example you can do it on s4 mini. It has 4.3 Brazilian firmware with new knox 2.0 bootloader.

Use autoroot from DeHawk post, He modified Chainfire autorrot to work on I9506. He also made it available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2597058 in the end of first Post.
This Autorrot will trigger knox flag (works on 4.4.2) but if you don't care about it, go ahead and you will be Rooted. Don't forget to give him a thanks

got it working thanks.
I am buying a new S4. Apparently it comes with 4.2x on it. So, should I root it from there or upgrade to 4.4.2 official? I was thinking if I did it from 4.2, I'd avoid the knox issue and then upgrade to a custom ROM later and still not have a knox problem.... or I am way off base?
Is there something new in root on 4.4.2 subject? I still want my knox status to be 0x0...

Hi Folks
My partner has just got the S5 Active and she loves it..
But now she would like to update from 4.4.2.. Phone says she has latest rom so my questions are this
1)What is the latest official rom for the Active?
2)Whats the BEST root method?
3)What Custom roms are suitable?
3)Finally what is the best route to take to flash a CUSTOM rom?
looking forward to your responses
regards
Lohtse
1) Here you can find the latest TW stock rom:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Android Lollipop is available for the S5 Active. You can download the latest Firmware and flash it via Odin. You don't need root for that.
2) My preferred root method is flashing CF auto root via Odin. After that I install another recovery like TWRP
3) Nobody can answer that. Try and find it out (perform a full wipe incl cache before you install a custom rom)
4) This steps: root, recovery, full wipe, custom rom, and at least if you want and need that: custom kernel

Thank you for the help...
finally got it sorted after reading around 9-10 different guides... all of which had little bits missing
now she's a happy bunny with LP on her Active and I'm a tired old fart with droopy eyes!!!!!
Just need a custom recovery now!!
Congratulations! How you solved it?
Yeah recovery is the same problem. It exists no recovery for the G870A
Two things that I found that allowed me to sort the Active which was mentioned
firstly to allow Flashfire to work you had too set clock back past 1/15/15
and you had to also set flashfire to boot into download to allow you to flash the G870A_OC5_Bootloader.tar.md5 file via Odin on the pc.. once I did these it worked...
Just depends which guide you read to find a COMPLETE one....
Damn that sounds very tricky

Not really just no two guides the same.... soon as I noticed the minor differences it was easy.
1) root with towel root copy stock LP(rooted version)
2) Install and set date to 1/1/15 then open Flashfire
3)Flash Stock rooted LP using flashfire making sure you have flashfire set to boot to download when finished
4) open Odin PC and connect S5Active
5)Point Opins AP slot to location of the G870A_OC5_Bootloader.tar.md5 file
6) Flash and reboot and your done...
MAJOR issue was the flashfire issue once found issue and set it as stated above I was Up and running after 10minutes Just had spent 4 hours failing before I notice and figured out what the issues was...
Simple really.... Well it was in the end lol

Wifi forget fix ?
Vibration fix ?
Thos is what i did but its something like a temporary solution.Essentially you are downgrading your bootloader and installing a beta/non complete kernel. We must wait for a custom recovery to work with rhe new bootloader
Hello, I followed the steps and everything was fine, I just noticed that I no longer have the feedback of the vibration on the soft keys and you can not enable them !!
I think thats an issue related to hacker kernel. Try the spaceX kernel

OK! So, i flash SpaceX kernel and then install SuperSu v2.65 and i checked and i got root! After that, I install TWRP Recovery from Google Play, download t.w.r.p.3.0.0.0 through this app and install it! "Proceed to atemp to recovery" > "Yes" and now i'm in SG S6 logo and... a big bull****!!!
What can do in this phase? Re-flash the ROM VOD for 920F version or what...?
Thanks,
Ok, I have got G900F and I know EXACTLY what I want, but cant find the threads of reference cause this has become ridiculous, so many versions of the phone, so many topics, so many threads that are basically the same ..
I have G900F with android 5.0, baseband version G900FXXU1BOJ3
1. I want to root it, is this thread ok ? >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699648
2. I want to ask if there is stock rooted marshmallow ? and if there is, should I OTA and then root, or some other way ?
question number 2 is unanswerable using search. both XDA search and google. You only get tangled in unneeded information and chaos. Please help me as I have lost 2 hours clicking links that I dont need ..
1.) Recommended way to root is to flash TWRP 3.0.2.0 (Custom recovery), then flash SuperSU from TWRP
You can also try flashing CF Auto Root with ODIN 3.10.7
http://download.chainfire.eu/397/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f.zip
But that doesn't always work and can cause a soft brick, needing the stock ROM flashed again to fix
Or if you don't want to trip KNOX, downgrade to KitKat, root with an app called TowelRoot, then upgrade using an app called FlashFire iirc
2.) No, you need to root Marshmallow yourself, using the TWRP & SuperSU method
You can OTA upgrade to Marshmallow, Flash TWRP 3.0.2.0, then Flash SuperSU Systemless 2.72 beta (Or whichever beta is the latest atm)
If you're not bothered about KNOX, just flash TWRP and SuperSU
You can download the latest MarshMallow stock ROM for the G900F using a tool called SamFirm
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Flash with ODIN
Ok, found out some other stuff in the meantime
1. I obviously dont have OTA option, and now I see that the version people flash via odin is not official, but Shri Lanka .. ? is there an actual oficial international version of 6.0 ?
2. I started following mega-thread for S5 and downloaded ODIN and started downloading CWM but I guess I should listen to you - I would root it with TWRP, I mean the version I am on now
I will wait for better reactions for 6.0 as I have read a lot of 6.0 feedback thread and people are complaining .. maybe noobs, but still.
thanks again man, you simplified it for me
will report once I root current version
If you are stock (Not rooted or custom recovery) you have OTA option
Otherwise set SamFirm tool up like this, and you'll get the United Kingdom Unbranded 6.0.1 (Change the region to whichever one you want)

I've been running 6.0.1 for a while now on my G900F, and I get better battery life (6-8 hours SoT) and much better performance
Easy enough to flash back to whichever ROM you want, the G900F is unlocked
Make a nandroid backup in TWRP, then you can restore that to exactly the way the phone was when you created the backup

How about you state the parts that you don't understand rather than asking someone to write a step by step guide. The instructions aren't that complicated, and I'm sure if I can explain the parts that are confusing you, you can figure the rest out.

Ok, fair enough. The first thing I saw in the instructions was to make sure I was to make sure I was 100% stock and boot. I don't think I am but don't know how to tell.
But even before that, I saw that: "Older Samsung devices generally (6.0+): sepolicy issues, should be fixed in v7"
So I think I'll wait until v7 is out before I try anything.

But since the Magisk instructions says, "Older Samsung devices generally (6.0+): sepolicy issues, should be fixed in v7" will this even work with a Galaxy S4?

That's why you make a nandroid backup of your current ROM... in case it doesn't. I downloaded Magisk a few days ago, but haven't had the time to test.

Works fine on the S4, you don't even need to be stock for it to work. Ran Synergy and currently running cm13 with no issue. Don't need Magisk as of now just systemless root and suhide with systemless Xposed, no problems playing pokemon go with Xposed enabled

I'm sure TouchWiz poses more problems than any AOSP ROM would... it always does.

I had very little problems with my sister's stock T-Mobile Note 5, it was marshmallow though. Not sure if systemless Xposed 86.2 is available for lollipop. Systemless Xposed 86.2 is required for Xposed and pokemon to play nice.
