Hi guys,
I am contemplating a change from the IPhone 6 Plus to the Galaxy s7 edge. I think the phone is awesome after playing with it some at the store. Couple of questions that I have.
- How does iCloud email work on the s7 edge, I've had android before (S3 I believe) and the email push was terrible, emails wouldn't come in etc.
- I have iCloud photo sharing with numerous people in my family, is there anyway to continue sharing photos taken with the s7 edge? I know it's Android/IOS but is there some sort of workaround or app? Any solutions from the pros?
- I am also subscribed to Apple Music with family app, so I know Android has an Apple Music app now, anyone using it? How's it work?
FYI I also have an iPad Pro I use for school/work, mainly using MS Office apps.
Thanks! I hope to be picking one up today!
I ditched my iphone 6 plus for the s7e. Left apple completely minus podcast i listen too on ipod. No regrets at all.
As for ur questions i cant answer them as i never used those apple services. Ou time i used icloud was the free 5gb it offered. After that didnt make sense to pay for 50gb although it is appealing but i have a 2tb external hard drive. Two actually so dont need the apple service.
Thanks for the reply!
If you don't mind me asking when you say you ditched apple completely, what other products did you have and what did I you replace them with? How's that going?

I am in the UK and I think the Kin phones would be ideal for my teenage daughter and maybe my wife also. I do not think data pricing is an issue in the UK as I pay only £5 a month for unlimited data.
They will love their photos auto uploading to the Kin Studio and the Zune Pass. There needs to be an option to delete photos from phone only (I think currently if you delete from the phone it deletes from the studio which is stupid).
However my wife will want a Calender for appointments, birthdays etc...
My Teenage daughter would not touch this phone without an IM Client which has Windows Live Messenger, Facebook Chat and Blackberry Messenger ( Iphone has an APP for this).
To seal the deal add BING MAPS with navigation and some XBOX Live Games.
This would succeed in Europe 100% I know in USA data prices also play a part so this would need to be looked at also.......
I agree to some extent. I just bought a Kin Two and am absolutely loving it. and I've had my fare share of phones over the past 5 months. Gone from the iPhone 3Gs (which is awesome), to the Palm Pre (which is also awesome, just a tiny keyboard), to a Droid Eris (not awesome, major problems), to now my Kin Two. Honestly this is a super snappy phone. Navigating through the menus is super quick. However I will say this is totally focused towards social sites and such. Here is where I agree with you. IM would be a definite plus in this department. You think it would make sense you at least give it Windows Live Messenger. Calenders Im okay with not having, but I realize this is a major issue for some people. Recently there was a press conference with reps from both Verizon and Microsoft (I wont post the article because I don't know this site's policy on linking outside sources) who said they will be adding app functionality like on the Zune HD, and their overall plan is to merge Kin OS with Windows Phone 7, which is pretty cool.
Overall I must say that this phone may not do a million different things, but I can say that what it does do it does very well. And after going through so many phones that can do some many things I'm really happy that I got this phone and brought me back to a simpler level.
Finally got the Nexus 7 in the mail today. Very happy with it, like how it feels and performs. Very happy with the price too.
Being a iPhone and iPad user since the original iPhone to just selling my 4s. Android is very exciting.
I also recently bought the Samsung Galaxy S3 and been loving it, have it rooted and running a custom rom, it is everything I wanted from Android.
Now with this new tablet, I am wondering if there is anything I should do to make the most out of having both an android phone and tablet. Apps that synchronize or just work really well together.
I also wanted to say that although I really enjoy everything I've come across with this OS I am a bit disappointed with the app ecosystem, and wanted to ask if long time android users have noticed that there have been more app being produced recently or if it is picking up. Although their is a few replacements for some of the apps I'm used to, they don't seem as polished, specifically I had an app classed iStudiezPro that synced my iphone,Ipad, and macbook with all my teacher info, class schedules, homework assignments, final dates, grades, ect ect. Looking for stuff like that.
Thanks for the help in advance,
Alex
P.s. I see up top that SyncSMS is recommended, is that the best way to text from the tablet from your phone? I heard of MightText also. Any suggestions?

I've used DeskSMS, and Textab. I didn't like the fact that Textab required bluetooth pairing of my phone and tablet. That resticted the distance between my phone and tablet. For that reason I liked DeskSMS. DeskSMS sends your txts to your gmail, and gtalk. This is very convient. All that is needed is a wifi connection to receive txts that go to your phone on your tablet. Also, I believe MMS messages are sent as attachments to your gmail. I have no experience with MightyText but the description says it runs through a browser. That is a restriction I do not what to have. I'm assuming that if I close the browser I won't receive txts on my phone. So with that said SendSMS was the best for me.
Here is a thread discussing alternatives to iStuziepro.

Try Class Buddy.

There are other suggestions in that thread.
Hey guys, first post here so hey!
I currently have an iPhone 4s (I upgraded from an HTC Desire, so I am pretty familiar with android all be it on 2.2!)
I also mainly use my Macbook pro due to my degree revolving around mac software, final cut etc.
I saw the Nexus 4 and realised how much of a bargain it is and how great it is in terms of hardware. I am by no means an Apple fanboy and all the flaming around that.
My main question is as follows... Due to me using a mac mainly, will I have any issues with compatibility with my Nexus 4 on my Mac, I mean of course I'll be able to connect etc... But in terms of adding music, and just general tinkering will I encounter any serious limitations with this?
I previously went iOS for the simplicity, but I missed the whole deep customisation features of the Android platform. In the past year I've even been relying more and more upon Google products such as "Drive" and things like that. So I guess thats another main contributor to the fact i'm going for the Nexus 4
So any responses would be appreciated!
As far as i know your only issue is that you need some software to get MTP support, which Google provides: http://www.android.com/filetransfer/
With Android, as long as you use the right software to playback your media, it will detect anything your your storage. It's just if you are used to iTunes syncing feature, you will have to find a different sync app, or manage your music library in a different way, I am not versed in Mac softwares for these purposed though. But with Google Music it can sync music to the cloud and you can stream it.

Yeah I was mainly worried about my music (I was considering buying a nano or something along with the nexus seeing as nexus 4 is so cheap! haha)
Although it does sound like I should be okay, I understand ill have to stop using iTunes, I assume my music purchased on iTunes wont be able to be played on the Nexus when I get it?

It's likely that it won't work due to DRM limitation, but saying that some songs I've bought on iTunes and simply transferred over to my HTC Desire play just fine. If you are limited by DRM issues, convert the .m4a files to .mp3 and you're good to go! ;D
I am in the same boat as you, except I come from an iPhone 4 and prior that a Nexus One.
Just downloaded Android File Transfer for OSX, thanks!

Yeah second I saw this phone I realised how this was too good of an opportunity to miss! Put my iPhone on eBay yesterday haha
Guys music is a non issue. Even if you download your music from iTunes. They have been selling their music DRM free for some time now. I use iTunes and have the google music uploader program and it keeps my music in sync. No fuss no muss. Just download the free program from Google.
I am a Mac user and up until recently have been an iOS user primarily. I am going for the N4 and based on my experience with the N7 won't have any problems integrating in with my Mac setup. This is the beauty of Android.
Ok so I have had my Note 2 since launch and love it. The Samsung account syncs the S-notes and can restore them. The Note 10.1 doesnt even have the option in the sync setting for the Samsung account. Does anyone know if the JB update will add this so your S-notes are synced across your Note devices?

Well went down the road of doing the gem ICS them changing the CSC file and it did the OTA update to JB. S-notes syncs fine I see my notes on both my Note 2 and the Note 10 but what really sucks is the Music Hub App is nothing like the one on my N2. None of the cloud music I have uploaded none of the Radio stations its just a Buy Me type apps this is very disappointing. If Samsung cant see the value in makeing it a seamless expirance across their Note Line they are lost in the weeds. Im not an Apple fan but they have got that stuff right. I think Im taking it back and going for the Nexus 10 if this is what I have to work with. Its a shame

Let's pretend you asked for help rather than ranting. Why yes, you can set up the "new" Music Hub on the Note 10.1. Download Astro (or tool of your choice) and back-up the app off of your N2. Then share it to Dropbox. Download the APK from Dropbox and it'll install on your Note 10.1 asking if you want to replace the installed version. Voila. Music Hub II on your Note 10.1. I can upload it to DB for you if you have any issues. Note: It only works on multiple (Samsung) devices if you've provided a credit card for the premium service.

Boy if that's a rant I'm not sure what to say....Thanks for the direction though. Been an Android guy since the Hero on sprint. Over time I have found I dont do all the ROM flashing anymore and just want the full experience without messing around. Thats a pretty easy fix though. Why wouldnt MH 3.0 be part of the JB update is my big question.

OK, not a "rant." Maybe a bit rant-ish. It was the “I’m going to get a N10” that threw me. Music Hub II isn't fully released yet. It was available originally for the U.S. only and only on the SGS3. They added the N2 and the UK, Germany, France, and Italy only recently. The original UI was pretty cheesy too. They obviously see it as a way of generating revenue because it’s a pretty ambitious effort so I'd expect it to become both more available and better promoted soon.

I have replaced Spotify, Pandora and Google Music with it. Simple to use easy to search, syncs with my Families iTune Lib. reasonable price. out of 5600 songs only 6 didnt make the "Locker". The "EQ" is Bass, Mid, Highs..perfect for me. Note2 with my Bose Soundlink is a wonderful road warrior combo in hotel rooms. Cant wait to see it "Official" on the Note 10.1 will make a great portable multimedia Platform. My only other WTF was why they didnt include NFC in the note 10 for beaming that would have been great for quick transfers between devices. DropBox fills that to some extent but it would have been icing on the cake.
Oh and you can set storage to your ExtSD .... THANK YOU SAMMY
General question about android. I am giving up my iphone 5, so don't hate on the noob question here, please.
Last Monday, my wife got the iphone 6 4.7" and I was just not impressed. i had been researching the android market, and selected the note 4 and preordered it after holding the note 3 in my hands and reading the reviews / specs to the note 4. After seeing the note 4 on display this Friday at best buy, I was reassured that I made the right choice. Last night my wife decided that she wanted to take her iphone 6 back and get do the same, but she wanted white. I was pretty happy because it further validated my reasons to change, there just wasn't much difference in the phones from 4s/5 to the 6. Only hold up she has concerns about is all of the music and how we share it currently. Apps we don't really buy, it's just music that we buy. We always have shared the itunes music account and kept our own icloud accounts etc... but the beauty of the shared itunes was when i purchased music or she purchased music, it would sync to our phones automatically. The same with apps. While apps are not the driving factor, the shared music is.
Do any of you share a google play account at home to keep music purchases to a family account and how?
Thanks in advance!
My wife and I have separate google accounts (makes it easier for calendar events sharing etc) however, for music, we do share a Spotify account. If you are both in to your music, you really should check out spotify... you will wonder why iTunes is even a thing after that
