Camera App Problem

I'm having a big problem with the camera app.
It appears that when I open, the camera automatically starts and tries to take pictures (by focusing) and then going black, and then coming back up to the camera viewfinder screen, then black, then viewfinder, then black, etc forever. It's as if the camera app opens, closes, opens, closes, again and again.
Both the rear and front camera have this problem...
The camera app used to work just fine.
When I try to use Google Goggles, it lags the camera terribly, and that's when it started (after using Goggles today). I uninstalled Goggles, but the camera is still messed up.
I use the camera in other apps just fine, like the Yelp Monocle, Camcorder and Qik, and they are still working fine, even if the camera app is broken.
I have tried Clear Data from the camera app, rebooting, battery pulling. I'm on my last resort, factory reset!

can we get some info about your phone... rooted? rom? ect...

well with that note i dont have a clue... the first time i turned my phone on i rooted it and never looked back!
i would power off, and volume down and power to get to h boot and factory reset...

So apparently the problem has to do with Geo-tagging, or anytime the GPS is in use with the camera in a picture taking capability.
I have turned geo-tagging off and the camera app is seeming to work...

[Q] is autofocus built into the camera or the phone itself?

Hello, recently I've been experiencing problems with my camera. If I open up the camera app most times I can feel the autofocus trying to adjust itself but more times than not it won't and I'll get a ripple effect. What I'm wondering is the autofocus built into the camera or built into the phone. I'm not too concerned about having to replace the camera but autofocus may be a totally different task.

Hi, as anyone noticed a small click when closing the camera app?
Sometimes it does, sometimes doesnt. I think its the camera lens closing or something.

I am not sure but i think that sound comes when camera "relases" focus

So that also happens to you. I can also confirm that, when I focus in close distance and close camera, I can hear a small click, sometimes its a different click sound. Im less worried now. If it works it should be no problem.

Frequent rear Camera Issue

I am facing frequent issues while using rear camera of my phone. The camera doesn't start at all,, I have to force stop many apps including custom camera app to start the rear camera using shake gesture or directly through any custom camera app like camera 360. I have been facing this issue since start as I bought this phone on launch day in India.. It is made in India phone

Rear Camera Clicking Noise

I am experiencing clicking noise when I shift between front and rear camera, changing between modes for rear camera. It's a fairly loud noise, at least the loudest I have heard for all the smartphones I have owned since a decade ago.
This is weird because the noise seem to start on my 2nd day of owning the phone. Don't think I notice it yesterday.
Any of you experiencing the same?

THis is completely normal. It's just the aperture opening and closing quickly.
If you look closely at the middle camera while switching between front and rear camera (just swipe up on the screen while looking at the rear camera), you'll see the aperture quickly close then open again. That's the sound you're hearing. Nothing to be worried about.

If camera aperture closes n open hundreds of times per day will it cause physical damage? As it has physical components?
Coz i use snapchat a lot
And whenever i open snapchat it ll open close the aperture shutter.

Yes, the aperture operating sound is unusually loud.
