Samsung S5 SM-G900I flashing a different firmware - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Here are the details of my phone which has a Taiwanese firmware and the phone details are as below :
Model: SM-G900I
Version: G900IZTU1BPD1/G900IZZT1BPD1/G900IZTU1BPD1/G900IZTU1BPD1
OS: Lollipop(Android 5.0)
Filename: SM-G900I_1_20160408111853_91n2lbiuv1.zip.enc4
Size: 1539803680 bytes
When I try to install an Australian generic or Telstra firmware on the phone using ODIN 3.10.7, towards the end it fails with a ext4 error. It gets the pit file and starts loading almost till the end but fails and also states 2547 mbytes less than 5576 mbytes. I want to load the Australian firmware version or if I can install the Indian marshmallow version 6.0.1 recently released. Is it that we need to load the pit file depending on the country / firmware fir it to load without failing. If so where do we get the PIT files for corresponding firmware version. Any help is highly appreciated.

your mobile is indian? or the australian one?

I was wondering if it is possible to install different regional roms if the phone have same model numbers? I posted a thread for help, but no use.

It is possible. The only difference is the firmware inside, not the hardware (because they are using the same model code like G900I). Personally, I have an 900F running stock Philippines Kitkat, I have flashed several fw from UK to UAE and it has worked just fine

How to update my phone?

So,I bought a new s4 octa today. All is great ranging from the bright screen to the nice 22 gigs available. But I'm having some kind of problem.I don't get any updates via OTA,also I tried using KIES and it says I have non-Samsung device and that it has latest firmware.
The baseband version is i9500XXUAMDK and the build number is JDQ39.I9500XXUAMDK.
I don't have heating problems as I topped 40 Celsius with 32 in standby or just playing with it,but how do I update?

In what country do you live? Also install CPU Z from Play, that should give you info about the phone`s hard- and software. Non-Samsung device but still the latest software?

I'm so sorry,I was mistaken when saying that it's non-Samsung.It's recognized as GT-i9500 so no problem with recognition.I live in Romania. Are you sure that what I have is the latest software? If not,why don't I receive any updates?
EDIT: I used CPU-Z from the beginning, and I have 32-34 when just browsing or watching vids and it gets up to 40 in gaming.

The I9500 is not beeing officialy sold in Romania, the I9505 is. It is probably an imported device from another country bro. There is no Romanian I9500 rom available on Sammobile, only I9505 roms. The MDK is quite an old rom. You could flash the Russian I9500XXUBMG1 rom with Odin for instance. There aren`t many Euro roms available as far as i can see, the Russian SER is the only one next to the German MBC rom http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=17177. Check it on Sammobile yourself http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9500&pcode=SER#firmware. What was the language when the phone booted up the first time?

You flash official firmware in this case, so no. In what language did the phone boot up the first time, German, Russian or another language? BTW look in item 1 of my signature for how to use Odin.

I highly recommend that you find out more about your version before starting flashing other firmware. Look at the box, it should give you a hint. Also, find out the CSC (see in Kies, somewhere in the files). After you know your CSC, check sammobile and download your existing firmware just for backup so you can always flash it back to original if needed.
Then look if there is any newer firmware for your CSC. If not, you can flash a newer one for i9500 with a different country code.
If you're planning on rooting, you'll lose warranty, but can always turn back to stock if you need the warranty, triangle away and stock firmware will help.
However, if you root it, first thing you should make an EFS backup.
Edit: Oh wait, triangle away is not available at the moment for i9500... Forgot about that.

I found out that my i9500 is designed for South Africa(XFA).Now,when I look on sammobile,I see that the latest firmware for me is MDK(April) and that's the one I have. How the hell the latest firmware for South Africa is the April one when all the other countries have newer ones(from july and sometimes august)?!?

You can flash a newer firmware from another region, or you should consider the benefits (and the risks) of custom roms.

Some questions about Firmware update

Hi,
I want to update my phone to Official Android Lollipop v5.
Can i install any other country's firmware on my device?
If yes then 'll this void my phone's warranty?
Can i get official updates in the future after upgrade*using other country's firmware?
Which firmware/update you suggest for my device?
If any problem occours then can i degrade back to previous version of android?
Here is my phone info.
Device: SM-G900H
Product ID: SM-G900HZDAPAK
PDA/Phone:*G900HXXU1ANG3
CSC: G900HOJV1ANG1
Thanks,
Try installing KIES3 and connecting your phone to the PC to check for updates
If none, grab a stock ROM for your model S5 from sammobile (No links allowed on XDA)
If the ROM is a stock Samsung ROM, it will NOT void your warranty so long as you use ODIN to flash it
Yes you can downgrade again by the same method
No idea about OTA updates, you'll likely end up with OTA updates for that countries ROMs
Any country ROM will work, but you might have issues with network, must be for your model S5

Update to 5.0

Hey guys!
i recently got Galaxy S5 ( screenshot Attached) i got it used, and at the time of buying i didn't know it was rooted. It has Android 4.2.2 when i try to update via System update. It says Operating system on your device has been modified in unauthorisd way....... so i cant seem to update my phone. Is there any way to get the new update Lolipop i try to search by i cant seem to find something related to my baseband G900fzhu1ancd .
so if anybody can guide me in the right direction will highly appreciated. I'm very new to This flashing and Rom stuff, but what i figured is we need to find same Rom that can support our baseband version?? we cannot flash any Rom? Right???
Go to sammobile . com and enter your S5 Model (G900F) into the firmware section, select your region from the drop down, and download that ROM
Instructions for flashing that to your S5 are under the download on that site

Just pick the closest region to you for the G900F if that is your model, if you can't find your own
BTU = United Kingdom
yes my model number is G900F.

So last night I flashed stock firmware from sammobile, after that I flashed the appropriate modem for the wifi to work.Everything is good but I tried from curiousness the Update Software button. It says my software is modified and I can't update it.Why?! I just flashed the stock firmware without rooting it or anything. What can I do?

Reflash everything with a full (not modified) stock firmware. That's because you flashed file that not corresponding the stock firmware you installed, so the OTA update will break.

I flashed a stock frimware! First I wiped everything from my phone except storage and flashed the stock firmware from sammobile. It is completely stock right now...
In order for OTA updates to function, the parts of the firmware must match each other, and the firmware must have the same CSC as originally installed on the device. For example, my S4 originally was from O2 (CSC O2U), but when I got it off Swappa it had the CSC of SIM installed. I would need to install the O2-branded firmware back on to the device in order for OTA updates to function.
If you do not know what the original CSC was, either because the phone was a "hand-me-down" or was purchased used, then OTA updates will not function and you will need to use Odin to update.

To identify what's the latest firmware for your region, use your hometown's CSC code (region code) and look for a new version available.
Like I9500UBUHOI1 for region ARO, I9500XXUHOH7 for region SER, and many more. If you're unsure, check your CSC code by entering Recovery mode or use an app like Phone Info.
@calinoii: Many S4 boxes will have the CSC on them as part of the Samsung merchandising code, though mine did not. If the box does not have it, or you don't have the box, the only way to get the correct CSC is by parsing the IMEI and finding out which carrier purchased that device. imeidata.net used to have that option available, and it was how I found out that my device was originally from O2. They took it out, and I'm not aware of any replacements. Try contacting your carrier, as they may be able to provide that information.

I guess I wasn't clear. When I say "CSC of the phone", I'm referring to the three digit carrier code some of the devices have. For example, my phone I discovered had the model number of GT-I9505ZKAO2U. The carrier code of my phone is the last three digits of the model number. It therefore is O2U, and on sammobile.com I would narrow down my search for ROMs using that code to get the correct ROM for the device.
The firmware has its own CSC code, but that cannot be used to determine the phone's CSC. You either need the model number of the phone as printed on the box, or you need to find someone who can research the IMEI and tell you what carrier the phone was originally sold to.

No, that's probably modem or baseband version. Like Strephon said before, it refers on latest 3 digits on your phone box. Like my Galaxy S4 is GT-I9500ZWAXSE, so this phone is for Indonesian markets. Third party app might refer it into installed CSC codes like I install Latin American firmware into my phone and it's changed into GT-I9500ZWATTT. It mostly refers to region like region CHN for China, ARO for Argentina, etc.
CSC that always mentioned on the firmware details is actually multi-CSC. Like on SEA I9500XXUHOH7, it's multi-CSC version is I9500OLBHOH1 and Latin American I9500UBUHOI1 is I9500UUBHOE2. Multi-CSC applies one of CSC codes that matches your phone (like I download ARO firmware but after installing and wipe cache, CSC code installed is TTT instead of ARO).

Can i install 935F stock rom on 935FD Device.

hello, i am from India. I recently bought a new Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Duos. FEW DAYS AGO (ABOUT 2-3 DAYS) i updated it to latest version over OTA. Unzip Odin on your computer and install it.
Unzip firmware zip file in the same folder as Odin.
Switch your Samsung Galaxy S7 edge off and boot it in Download mode: press and hold Volume Down and Power together and then press the Home key. OR, check how to enter Download Mode.
Open Odin and connect your smartphone with your computer. When connected successfully, one of the ID:COM boxes will turn yellow with the COM port number after a while. (In case you don’t get it, try another USB port. If that doesn’t help either, then re-install USB drivers).
On your Odin, select files:
Click on AP and select file with AP in its name.
Click on CP and select file with MODEM in its name – ignore if you didn’t get any such file.
Click on CSC and select file with CSC in its name – ignore if you didn’t get any such file.
Click on PIT and select the. pit file – ignore if you didn’t get any such file.
Click on BL and select file with BL in its name – ignore if there is no such file.
Make sure to check Auto Reboot and F.Rest Time. Check Re-Partition only if you selected the. pit file.
Click on Start to initiate the update process.
When Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update installation is successfully completed, you will get a PASS message.
I don't know if factory reset is necessary after flash, but I did it, just in case. I attached Odin which I used.

A bit silly question but have you tried installing from Smart Switch? You mentioned Odin so that didn't look promising...
Try recovery from Smart Switch.

Unless you know what you are doing and about files source/files you are flashing, then not much.. but if you are not sure, then Smart Switch can download official f/w for your specific model & flash it for you.. simplest, no brainer to recover to official f/w.

Hi
I have G935FD device, which I recently bought (the second hand one).
I notice that I have issue with GPRS data transfer... it looks like, from time to time when GPRS is active SMS sending is not possible any more (up to next power OFF of device) .
At that time I'm able to see only one GPRS range indicator.
I'm able to receive calls from both SIM cards.
I did not check am I able to call from both of them.
According to my google investigations issue is pressent in Android 6.0, which I have right now.
Case shall be easy, I need to update to Nugat verision and it is all , but...
1) If I'll check firmware update on my mobile I have inforamtion that it is the latest version of firmware G935FXXU1APD1// G935FXXU1APB6. what is not true
2) I started to looking for official Android 7.0 version. to get it, I have to have CSC code. Phone info application have cleared out all CSC code. *#1234# don't work - "error message connection error or wrong MMI code".
Device type is hero2lte

Thanks in advance.
Hi
Below information for anyone who have the same issue as I.
I download the newest official ROM for Android 7.0 for Poland (G935FXXS1DQHI).
I used ROM for single sim, not dual sim.
Since that I don't have any issue with SMS or GPRS any more.
MMI codes started to work back.
I still have dual sim .
Simple , now it works better !!
I got a used GT-935T phone very recently in India, which was still running android 6.0. On browsing these forums, I found out that we could flash stock rom on it without rooting, so I did so using Odin. I flashed the stock rom of Android 7.0 for t-mobile 935T, which was what my phone was supposed to be.
On further browsing, I also discovered, that we could flash any stock rom on the phone, irrespective of the region. So I decided to download the latest stock rom for India 935fd. I did so, but whenever I'm trying to flash it using Odin, I'm getting an error - repartition failed.
I've not checkd the repartition option.
can someone help me?
