I'm a photographer, and want to use the Nexus 7 to look at and display images for clients to ok and a prove photos. Is there a way to connect a full size SD card into a 7 and read RAW files?

You will have to get a OTG cable (a few dollars) and either root the device and install StickMount, or use one of the ones method that don't need rooting (which I believe are read-only)
well. there are several threads talking about the OTG USB Cable, so you need one of those and obviously anything like a card reader.
Depending on what Nikon Camera you are using, you might consider the Setting if a second cardslot is available to shoot in Raw on first card, as well as JPG on the second one. Just to compare pictures on a bigger screen - like sharpness, posing etc, doesn't require to be in RAW at all. ( D600, D7000 got 2 slots for example ).
Another way would be using Eye-Fi Cards, but as far as i read several reviews, the speed and reliability of those cards are a matter for themself.
My advise:
Setup your camera to shoot raw and jpg (basic) will do.
buy OTG dongle on amazon or ebay for 1-5$
buy smallest cardreader available ( you can chose between sd card or microsd + adapter ( micro sd cardreader are very tiny obviously )
shoot photos
connect otg and cardreader to nexus, insert card, and review pictures (jpg)
Hope this works, Cheers.

Read only should be enough to just review the pictures on a bigger size screen.
If your camera has its own USB cord for transferring to a comouter . You might be able just to plug it into the nexus 7 with a otgcable and for me it auto launches the gallery and displays the picture

You're having a giraffe aren't you ?
You don't say which camera body you're using or in what scenario.
Studio? Your options are many. Location? Less so. Wi-Fi? Depends on how techy you are.
I've used those pocket sized wi-fi routers in the past with some success and many issues.
Shoot raw+ small jpeg, transfer the jpegs to the N7 using USB OTG (root required) and choose from one of the many gallery apps on the market.
Might want to go for a 10" tablet as the 7" is a bit small for anything but checking composition.
No way yet to calibrate the display for colour fidelity, either.
Have you tried contact sheets a chinagraph and a loupe
I am using dslrdashboard having my Nikon D80 connected via OTG to my Nexus. Principally I can do shoots initiated by the Nexus. there is only one disadvantage at the moment: the images cannot be zoomed when being displayed on the screen.

Get Photomate on the Google play, its supports most raw formats, and is amazing..
I use Rawpal Gallery Lite to view the raw photos from my Nikon D3100. Then if I want to lightly edit (im no professional) and share them I save them to my tablet and make the edits with Photo Mate Professional. I would simply use the latter app to view and import the photos but I cant find where my camera mount on my tab. I should mention that I connect my camera directly to the tablet with a standard mini usb cable and a utg cable.
Great! I just wanted to check if I could do this before I buy one.
I'll be using it in the field and its really just for check that the photo is focused and composition. I'll probly just use a cable and shoot in RAW and JPEG. Im using a D90 and it will let me do that. Thank for all the info and options.

30 years ago it was all film and dim viewfinders. Somehow, we managed.
Somehow managed with upside down viewfinders on medium format, too.
Trust me, it was a lot easier then

As the title says, how do I go about mounting my DSLR as an external hard drive on my Nexus 7?
The problem is that I shoot RAW and RAW files are not seen in the Gallery. Any help is appreciated...
Search at Google Play for "raw photos". Photo Mate working here, but is not perfect.
Connect your cam through MSC mode.

What brand DSLR?
I know Canon and Nikon work with Helicon Remote.

Stop... MUFFIN TIME!!!
Now the problem I'm facing with my Nexus 7 is that I connect my DSLR (Canon 1000D/60D) and I can't seem to find where the camera storage is mounted. Any help with that?
Actually, disregard that. I've managed to buy Photo Mate and it detects my DSLRs whenever one is connected. Once that happens it gives me the ability to copy all pictures on camera to the tablet. Thanks for the help though!
I take many photos on my DSLR and it is not always convenient to get to computer. How do I transfer my photos from my DSLR to my Nexus 6P so that I can quickly attach them to a message on the phone?
I have a few top notch sd cards. I've noticed on the axon 7 that the gallery is slow with loading up my pics and videos in the gallery. I've used A1 SD Bench app to test the read/write speeds. My results on the axon are much slower than my S7 edge and moto z force. Anyone else have the delay in the gallery while scrolling through pics and videos?
Mine are slow too. I've used a different gallery app and it improved. I'm guessing it's their gallery app which i don't like at all.

Don't tend to use the gallery app that much for browsing my stuff, usually open through file explorer... Don't generally take that much notice how long it takes....
Use Piktures from the play store. Highly recommended throughout XDA
