Every time i do anything in twrp (wipe, restore etc) I get an error "error opening: ('/data/data/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox/app_webview/Cookies' (I/O error))
After seeing this, i performed a facory reset and then installed the newest aicp nightly along with appropriate gapps. It installed fine, booted fine. However, wheni tried installing the Google app from the play store, it gives me a 504 error.
After messing around with the rom a few minutes, i went back into twrp to restore a backup, which fails and gives me the error I received before as well as "extractTarFork() process ended with ERROR: 255"when trying to restore data.
Still not sure what i did wrong but ended up biting the bullet, moved everything important to external sd, format data partition, reboot twrp, factory reset and then installed AICP and gapps.

Don't know how I did this but I'm having an error in Recovery...comes up as
E:error opening '/data/data/com/instagram.andro
E:error: I/O error
This error is preventing me from restoring backups (they fail)..
Its also kept me from clean installing a new ROM (Rom will boot but I get the process stopped pop-up message repeatedly)...
I've done a total wipe of everything except for internal storage.. but the results are the same. Any help or insight would be appreciated. ***Error also occurs after wipe*** But wipe is "successful"
TIA
Got this issue sorted last night. Apparently, TWRP does a poor job of wiping so I had to switch to Philz recovery and wipe in order to remove that pesky error. From there I was able to perform a clean install of a new ROM, use Freegee to install TWRP and finally load one of my backups.
New issue...
Tap to wake no longer works ...
Any help for the new problem?
Long story short, I tried to install MultiROM on my Nexus 6P, and it failed. So I tried to restore my backup using TWRP 3.0.2.0, and it keeps failing at exactly 7800MB with the error E:extractTarFork() process ended with ERROR=255. I have seen posts talking about checking the log when this happens, but I'm not sure exactly how to do that.
What exactly do I need to do to restore my backup?
I guess I should add some detail. I first tried booting to recovery and restoring the backup. The phone rebooted into a boot loop part of the way through the restore process every time I tried that. Then, I tried flashing the phone completely back to the stock image, and then restoring. I got the error 255 above. Then, I tried flashing back to stock completely, wiping Dalvik/cache, and restoring the backup. I still get the same error message. I tried restoring everything except userdata, and the phone reboots part of the way through the restore.
I could easily reroot, reinstall Xposed, and reflash TWRP if for some reason my system backup partition is corrupted. However, I don't want to lose my data partition at all. That was the whole reason I made the backup in the first place.
I installed TWRP on my device. It worked nicely and I booted into twrp recovery. I thought of doing a factory reset. So, I selected the format option on TWRP. It showed something like "Formatting Data using make_extfs". I left it there. My brother came and pulled out the battery from the mobile. I booted up the phone thinking the process was over. I was stuck in a bootloop. I then booted into twrp again. I tried to wipe cache, but a error message came up showing something like "Failed to mount /data". I tried recovery option on TWRP. There it is showing, 0 MB internal storage. I think the storage got corrupted. Any solutions to this?
Try wiping your all partitions. All at once
This is all new to me and I've read everything I could find.
I successfully rooted my e4 with magisk. Then I wanted to flash the stock rom to get it back to out of the box condition.
I had to flash the .bat file because rsdlite will not recognize my phone no matter what I do. It got stuck on a bad key/erasing bootloop. I was able to flash twrp, format data/unencrpyt, and flash no verity and it booted just fine, unrooted. I rerooted and tried to sign into Google account and Google play services didn't work. I downloaded and installed several versions, deleted data and cache for Google plays services, store, framework, even deleted the hosts.txt file and nothing. So I decided to flash stock and start fresh.
Following the steps I had done previously that worked no longer work. When I format data/unencrpyt I get the failed to mount /data blah blah crypto footer, failed to mount /cache. So I tried to reformat those individually by changing their format to f2fs and back to ext4 and vise versa and reformated and no errors. Flashes no verity thinking everything should go smoothly now and I'm stuck in a twrp recovery loop. I'm just lost. I've spent hours and hours and hours reading and fiddling and I'm at the point where I have to ask for help. So...
Help!
This error always happens and stays forever after I reboot into the rom the first time. I turn on OTA updates for the ROM all the time, and currently on crDroid 6.11. Error makes it so I cannot flash other things on top of the rom like ANXCamera.
Tried to repair the /data partition, but it also comes out with an error:
/sbin/e2fsck -fp /dev/block/mmcblk0p66 process ended with ERROR: 1
Unable to repair data. I rebooted to system, then rebooted back to the recovery, and repaired the /data partition again, but this time it was successful. but it did not solve the issue, the "Have you lost something?" prompt stayed there.
Decryption works fine, I have a pattern lock and fingerprint, and when booting into recovery and OrangeFox asking for the pattern to decrypt the drive, it works fine and I can see the files, so I don't think its an encryption issue.
I also flashed Magisk by rebooting to recovery a second time after flashing the rom then flashing Magisk.zip
The only way I worked around this issue before was by wiping system, cache, dalvik and formatting data partition, and reinstalling OrangeFox. but it still comes back after flashing crDroid again and booting into the ROM, I don't have any idea how to fix the error.
Every time you install a new ROM, the internal storage in wiped . Internal storage contains a folder "Fox" which contains OrangeFox addons. When it gets deleted , you get that message in recovery.
