If you unlock the bootloader.....
Thanks for answer Dennis_Hawks
I got X play 1564 which is not Verizon droid maxx 2 but its not receiving Mashmallow update 6.0.1 is there a way to convert 1564 to 1562 and recive all the updates in future?
Still, If you manage to find the way to unlock the bootloader you will most probably be able to do it.

This is for all moto x 2014? If not, maybe the supported models should be on the topic.
Does this work for the XT1097 from AT&T??

I just got a brand new Moto x Developer Edition (Verizon) I am new to Moto and not sure what are all the options available for this variant.
1) what ROM's do you guys suggest for this variant ?
2) What version of CM can i install?
Thanks!
I wouldn't install a rom at all, the stock experience on this phone is way too good. That said, I'd unlock the bootloader and root with twrp and then use xposed with the gravity box module to play around.
Sent from my Nexus 10
I got the phone and when i go to software update it says i am running upto date. I am on 4.4.4 and its a dev edition (verizon) How do i install 5.1 on this? checked the moto site and there is not straight forward answer. Any help is apprecaited!
The Verizon variant (including the dev edition) hasn't yet received official lollipop.

How might you accomplish this given locked bootloader, no root and no ability to boot a custom recovery. There is little/no chance ADB sideload would allow such a swap as it would stop any semblance of device security.
