Battery drain with smartwatch (LG G Watch) - Galaxy S3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Some days ago, I bought myself a nice smartwatch (LG G Watch) expecting 1 to 2 days battery life.
After some updating, it was finally running but not for long....
Starting from 100% loaded it took the watch just 5 hours to Switch off due to low battery.
My mobile phone did likewise (7 hours while it normally last >30 hours).
It seems, that in the end the Problem was the following:
The battery Drainage was only visible on the watch when the Connection to the phone was established
since both of the devices were doing something awfully exhausting, I figured, it might be the usage of a wrong type of Bluetooth Connection
I had paired 3 Bluetooth devices (2 headphones and a loudspeaker) that weren't active at that time
some of them surely lacking Support for the direly needed "low energy" scheme of Bluetooth 4.0
For half a day now, I have deleted the 3 pairings on the mobile phone and the Problem has gone since....
I hope, this might help some other poor soul with a similar Problem, slowly loosing ist temper over a really nice Gadget that just isn't usable due to the battery behaviour....

Another battery problem

Hello,
I have a new S200 and i noticed that every time I charge the battery its life time is shorten - I have omega battery pack installed and in first few time with a fully chard battery the battery meter was at 5 hours but now after 3 weeks a fully chard batters has only 3.5 hours left .
is it possible ?
starnge
I have the same problem with my Prophet -
I have a new Prophet, last month the battery lasted at least 5 hours ( I am using a battery plugin that show the battery time left ) and today if I get 3 hours I am glad , no changes ware made to the device .
I turn my Prophet Off every night - could it be the problem ?
You didn't enable the bluetooth or wifi option? Because those eat up battery quite fast. And did you do a rom update? Some gsm updates cause more drain on the battery.
And perhaps it could be some programs use up the battery, but can't be sure about that though.
My BT is enable because I use BT headset all the time and I'v upgraded my rom to"RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_QtekWWE_Ship.exe" .
I heve no programs running at all (except 3 from the startup).
But the main problem is not how fast the battery ends, but a full battery last 3 Horus when a month ago it lasted 5 ...
Mine discharges in a day, without any call made and only 30 min of usage
Have U tried switching the IRDA off ? 'Cause by default it's on.
the irda kind of doesn't consume at all..
I guess I had this trouble with every phone I got, the first 2 weeks are always giving better battery time, and it quickly decrease to a more "stable" state... Don't know why btw...
Are you still noticing a shortened battery life now compared to last week ? Keep testing, I bet this is already gone.
i doubt that it gets to a "Stable" state. i've been experiencing the same strange issue for 2 weeks now, in the exact same conditions as described in the first post (battery pack pro installed). i don't use IR/BT, i have no viruses, it's just the same phone. it also turns off from time to time, on no apparent regular basis. i am just preparing to rewrite the ROM, perhaps it helps.
p.s.: i've been using it for some time now (since it came on market), so it's kind of strange this started happening so sudden.
if there are no other obvious reasons you might try this tweak, which, they say, is helpful sometimes. I did it and now my phone loses 1-2 percent in standby mode in 7-9 hours and one battery charge lasts for 2.5 days of moderate use. good luck.

Did you install the A2DPfix.cab to avoid the skipping problem ?

Unacceptable battery life (even in standby mode).

Hi all
Last week I bought a HTC Touch HD and I would be very happy with it, if not for the very poor battery life. On the first charge it lasted about two days before it was empty (which sounds acceptable to me as I used it quite a lot), but after that it has struggled to get more than 12 hours even with low usage (just a few text messages). Thus, it appears there is a massive energy drain even while the system is in standy. I have disabled about everything that I could think of (bluetooth, WiFi, 3G, ...) and closed every program in the task manager, but to no avail. Did any of you ever experience anything like this? Does this sound like a malfunctioning battery or is this a software problem?
Thanks in advance!
Mine is like this.
The initial week that I had the phone was horrible. If I even got 12 hours out of the phone I was lucky - the "normal" time for that first week was about 4-6 hours - like I said, absolutely terrible.
Now, if I don't use it at all, or very very rarely, I'll get near enough to 6 days out of it (which is *very* good, considering it's a high-tech phone)
But regular/heavy/constant use will drop it to less than a day. It's not ideal, I admit, but I'm rarely more than a few hours from a charge point (at home or in work), and I'm considering getting a car charger, just incase.
You can also look for a cradle like the ones linked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=476986
The one I got came with a second battery - I haven't used it yet (haven't needed to), but it's nice to know there's a backup, just incase.
I noticed the battery was not as good as the tech talk seems to suggest, my previous phone had better battery (don't want to say this, but it was an iPhone )
Battery life for me is great. However if you end up with an app running constantly, it'll drain really fast.
Battery life normally is a lot better than the iphone.
Obviously something went wrong if you got 2 days initially and now only get less than 12 hours...
Is active sync constantly running?
Make sure you turn it off with fake server.
Backup and try a hard reset.
Turn off beam in settings, if you don't use bluetooth for file transfer, active sync should be killed with fake server as said before, around 30% more battery usage after disabling these two.
I find WIFI to be the biggest drainer of battery juice. With it on, the phone also gets very hot.
Anyway, I always carry a spare battery - something I can't do with iPhone or my iPod.

It took 2 weeks for my HD to reach the level where i'm happy with the charge.
It was only lasting me a day, now it lasts me 3 days with constant use.
To save some of your juice, take a look here for some saving tips:

[Q] How long does your battery last?

How is the battery in your Optimus 7?
I don't have an exact estimate but I guess around 10 to 12 hours of normal use. With heavy usage like using Gmaps drive mode on and playing games I get a lot less battery time, though I still haven't made a true test.
My previous cell phone, Samsung SGH-T459 lasted me for days, it was truly a marvel but it wans't as pretty to look at as my LG E900. Though it had many more basic functions than my LG E900
Yeah sadly powerful phone != good battery life. Looks like you get basically the same as me. I bought 2 batteries and an external charger from Hong Kong for $15 though, so that should help.
My battery lasts for about a day and a half of normal use with UMTS and wifi on 100% of the time, with the odd game thrown in. I also have a Galaxy S2. The same use sees about 9 hours of battery life on it. I find the battery life of the E900 (with Mango beta) extraordinary for a smartphone and I'm very honestly thinking of selling my SGS2.
I see three types of scenario
normal day: no wifi, 6 hours of normal usage, plus 18 hours of laying in one place, and then it says "battery critical"
out of office day: 8 hours of moving in areas where are no GSM network in range (basements, garages, etc)
weekends: no wifi, laying in one place almost 2 days
My LG E-900 survives 2 business using the following settings:
- Regular 7392 software
- Connected to Deutsche Telekom (900 MHz)
- EDGE instead of UMTS
- No wifi
- No GPS
- Turning off data between 22:00 and 7:00 manually (i hate email notifications at night)
- E-Mail push for Active Sync account and 15 min pull for IMAP
- Daily Facebook sync
- Frequent reading of emails and writing about 5 mails per day on the phone as well
- About 30-45 min. phone calls per day (i have a fixed line in my office so it's not much)
Compared to my Samsung Galaxy S this is quit good, under the same conditions the Samsung asked for the charger during the 2nd day, the LG E900 has still about 25%-30% capacity at the end of day 2 (22:00).
As I use the LG E900 more and more my "old" HTC Legend is breaking standby records every week, about 7 days without charging. I don't use data or voice with it frequently, but it is connected to the UMTS network (O2 Germany offers GPRS and UMTS but EDGE only in very few areas). On my last cruise vacation the HTC Legend survived in standby connected to the GSM cell on the ship almost 10 days. Thus new cell phones still provide a good battery life in case you use them as regular phones, but who wants to do that?
5 days is my record
1 or 2 short calls/day, a few texts/day.
Location services off except when (rarely) needed.
Wifi off except when (rarely) needed.
Email sync on demand only (3-4 times/day).
Check trains/tubes twice/day.
Don't use it at all for music/radio.
This results in 3-5 days life.
I'm getting about 1.5 to 2 days normally - a mixture of texting, tweeting and internet, as well as the occasional call, switching between WiFi and 3G throughout the day. Obviously hitting up the GPS or internet radio kills it (about 4 hours of Tune In Radio take it to flat from a full charge), but I'd have to say I'm pretty happy with it, even after being used to a Nokia.
hi...i just bought an e900 and my battery life is terrible with latest rom.
like 6 hours and the battery was 40%. didnt do much on it!
The same problem. I'll try to reflash to Open Europe. Originally I have StarHub
my battery with:
3g active
gps active
data active and push in real time with facebook and gmail
i start my day at 8:30 and finish at 00:00 and beyond one o'clock my optimus tell me to charge.
mango update rtm
i live in italy and my operator is telecom italia mobile
I have no signal at home (from 19:00 to 00:00 and beyond)and when to look for signal consumes more energy from what we know
sorry for my bad english
Nothing Changed for now.
At 9am I disconnected phone.
At 7pm battery was critically low

Short battery time
I am having the same short battery issues you are describing and also the battery status indicator bug...
I made an experiment the other day. Fully discharged my phone and then recharged it to 100% at night. Turned data on (HSDPA 1900), wifi and location services were off, and activated battery saver mode. No app was open.
In the morning (7 hours after that) as soon as I woke up I checked the battery meter. It had 68% left!!! How could the phone lose 32% of its charge without doing anything but staying idle?
This is a way I found to charge and use your phone when your phone goes off due to low battery. This has been tested on the LG Optimus 7, HTC 7 Trophy, Samsung Focus and HTC HD7 so this may work on other devices. (Unknown about the Samsung Taylor or LG Panther)
1. Make sure your phone is off due to low battery and can still switch on
2. Turn on your device on.
3. Wait 5 seconds after you see your OEM logo (e.g. SAMSUNG, LG, HTC), then plug in your charger. (If your device turns off before 5 seconds or cannot switch on at all, this will not work for you.)
4. You would see your OEM logo for a few seconds and your network provider logo (depends whether your device is OPEN or using a Carrier ROM) then you would see the animated Windows Phone logo and your SIM PIN or Wallpaper.
Troubleshooting:
If you feel a slight vibration or hear the "low battery" alert and the device goes off after the animated Windows Phone logo, you have either waited too long, charger is faulty or not turned on or your Windows Phone does not support this.
If your device turns off before 5 seconds or cannot switch on at all, this will not work for you because your battery is completely dead. Charge it properly for 8 hours.
Thanks,
AlivePhilemon
(NOTE: This works only for versions 7.0.7004, 7.0.7008, 7.0.7355, 7.0.7390 (NoDo), 7.0.7392, 7.0.7661 mojo, 7.0.7712 mojo, 7.0.7713, 7.0.7714 and 7.10.7720.68 (Mango) flawlessly. It does NOT work on 7003. DO NOT do this on 7003 as there seems to be a bug in the device firmware which MAY render the device unusable. 7003 users use this AT YOUR OWN RISK. I will not be responsible for any damage caused to your device when this trick is done)

Have you unbranded your phone? Did you force the Mango update? If you did so, you might be missing the LG firmware update that's supposed to give longer battery life.
I had the same short battery life issue, and it went away after I rebranded my phone and got the 1.0.9.10 firmware for my e900h.
If I use only for calls, sms and mail (with wifi on all the time) probably 2 days, but if I play games, music, videos etc. only half day. If only there was a better battery available.

I haven't unbranded my phone, as it still displays Vodafone as the carrier and I got all the updates keeping it branded. I forced the mango update because my country only got marketplace support after that update (I live in Colombia) and I wanted to have a fully functioning phone and not have to wait a month or more for that. I did get a couple of LG updates, one after NoDo (If I remember well) and the tethering update too.
You suggest that those that forced the mango updated missed an LG update, are you sure about it, or just giving your thoughts? For what I've read I haven't found a pattern yet, as I'm not the only one with the feeling that battery is not lasting enough. Also, i think the 1.0.9.10 FW is for E900h only, I have only seen that FW in the posts related with phones from Canada.

I'm sure of it for the e900h and I see no reason as to why this wouldn't apply to the e900.
I had abysmal battery life after forcing the Mango update, my phone could barely last a day.
Now, that I received the missing LG update that a forced Mango update skips, my battery life is much improved. While 1.0.9.10 is e900h specific, I am sure that you can check to see what firmware version others with the e900 have to see if you are missing a driver update.

Same here.
Battery life on my LG Optimus 7....
Mine's like only 10-22 hours... But it should be more like 50h+ atleast when it's in standby mode but it isnt.
The question will be if it is worth to buy a new battery to check if it can last longer?

Lack of autonomy of my LG E900

I have a LG E900 Maximo7 and I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of autonomy of it.
On last days I had push mail off, wifi off, bluetooth off, location off, data connection off, .........., and with a few phone calls and sms, and 5 minutes of internet per day the battery is off at the end of the day.
I usually charge it at night (23:00pm) and at the end of afternoon of next day (arround 19:00 or 20:00pm) the battery is off or near by.
Is it normal? On your mobiles you have this kind of autonomy?
PS: My LG has the NoDo (OS version 7.0.7392.0)
No, my phone runs 2 days with internet and everything.
Hummm, can probably be something wrong with my mobile?
Well my experiences on battery life:
Heavy use (3G, surfing, gaming, mp3) = 8-12h (with 2-3h screen on)
Normal use (3G, some surfing) = 20-24h
No Use (3G off, Data connection off, just lying around with GSM) = 3+ days (I was really shocked by how long the battery lasted when I was on vacation)
I use a brand new battery. I dont know if the values are really correct as I never let the battery run down until it shuts off automatically.
The battery duration of this phone and of all WP7 phones in general is really impressive, try Android and you will understand!
Maybe u have just faulty battery, I can use my device for 2 days with all on without charging it (just turn off all radios with Airplane Mode during the night)
The same problem. I've even bought a new battery and it didn't help.
I have ROM from StarHub

My wife has already bought SG2 (which has bigger screen) and I was impressed how long does it work on battery. She works as seller and supervisor, and use phone almost constantly aprox 8-10h per day (of course not only for emails and internet) and only charge phone every 2 days! When my LG was brand new, battery life was aprox. 24h on normal use, now with mango and 6 months old battery is aprox. 16-18h only.
I get phone from from charger at 9, use it only to listen to the music through bluetooth and read news for an hour or two maximum and at the late evening it can die.
Everything enabled (Wi-FI, Bluetooth, Location)
Using 3G
If I use it more intensive it definitely dies till evening. WTF?
We need to do something with it. Focuses and other WP7 works for 2 days.
It all comes down to usage really. Smartphones in general don't last long. If you think you are not using the set much and still it seem to drain battery way too fast start checking for stuff running that can eat power.
Usually things are running that one is unaware of that under certain circumstances drain your battery.
Check for background tasks and stuff like that.

(ISSUE) Having troubles with my Ticwatch E's Battery Life

I hope this is the right place to ask for assistance.
I don't know what's going on with my watch, I've had it for almost a year now and for the last month (maybe 1.5 months) my battery life for my Ticwatch E has been horrible. I would normally get 1.5 or so days out of my watch, that's with notifications on and the tilt screen on function enabled. Now, I hardly get 12 hours with notifications off, screen off most of the day. The only time I actively use my watch is when I go for a run, I use Google Keep for about 30 mins, and that's it. I make sure the watch battery empties all the way before I place it back on the charger for the night.
I've forgot and re-synced a few times already. And even uninstalled the Ticwatch E app and Wear OS and re-installed wear OS...and still no luck on battery life. I've taken a few screen shots to help paint the picture.
The first screenshot (05-07 Sept) are all days that I've had the notifications off, screen off (minus the 30 mins or so I used Google Fit to run)
The second screenshot (08 Sept) is same conditions but after removing and re-syncing the watch after a full charge (then charging again)
The third screenshot (09-10 Sept) are both same conditions and I also uninstalled the Ticwatch app, and the Wear OS app and reinstalled the Wear OS app.
And the fourth screenshot (System Info from watch) is the info from my watch.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I miss having decent battery life.
Hi I am experiencing the same issue. The watch is also 'bout a year old and since two or three month the battery life is very poor. Although I am not sure if this is real or if the calculation of the SOC is simply wrong. It seems to help to drain the battery completely and then charge it up fully. But after a few days I am back at where I were before. I checked the Mobvoi forum and some users reported the same issue. But no real solution.
Hi, I am experiencing the same issue. I've been playing around with the different settings to see if I can maximize battery life but with eh battery saver on and screen off most of the day I barely get 9 hours out of it - it's a real shame as the functionality/ aesthetics and hardware are all better than most!
Lithim batt have a about 300 cycles charge (0 to 100%)(or 5 years) so in 1 (1.5) year batt is dead (lost at least 30% capacity and not hold very well the charge)
