Hey Guys,
Great deal on Ebay; there's droid incredibles that are refurbished (in B+ condition, I assume that it means near perfect but still a little handled)
for $105. Not a bad price for a phone.

The ebay description claims that it is locked to verizon,
I have never owned an CDMA phone so I don't know if XDA has ways to make it unlocked for any CDMA carrier
you can get it on other CDMA carriers (Cricket, Boost) pretty easily using EPST, but you cannot get it on any GSM carriers.

so using EPST you can flash the phone to work on any CDMA carrier around the world? Provided they Activate your handset on their n/w ?

I think even the oldest android phone, the g1, can be updated to 2.3, so I don't think you have to worry about anything

Not familiar with Metropcs so sorry if this is kinda generic.
1. Not unless your carrier is really weird... Or if you are on a contract and don't have a smartphone plan
2. Couple seconds. Once you're in recovery and all, the zip to flash is really simple.
3. This depends on if your carrier is GSM or CDMA and what frequency bands it uses. GSM is fairly simple... CDMA can (?) be done, but it's significantly more complicated.
From everything I can see, you're almost guaranteed to get 1xRTT (2g data) and voice. 3g and MMS are iffy, and require changes to APN settings, and LTE or HSPA+ depend on the frequency band, if you're on GSM. On CDMA, I have no idea.
4. As with any flashing, there's the off chance something bad could happen. Not likely, especially if you follow the directions. But, it could happen.
If you give me info on the carrier, I can give more specific instructions
Final note: please Don't Capitalize Every Word Because It Makes People Annoyed And Is Weird To Read.

Looked into this. I'd think using the process involving the evo 3d using qpst applies here for most of it. I'm debating on my RAZR m or actually using my evo 3d since it is tried and tested.

I read there is a small setback involving the original RAZR and the process for adding MEIDs and ESNs of certain phones due to the accepted ranges in their system

That's page plus and cricket. It needs different values to do metropcs. You might be able to change the cricket/page plus values to metropcs, but I doubt anyone would know the changes to make.
Also, if they're not doing byod any more, that may permanently stop you from flashing it ever... They may lock their network down based on IMEIs

i thought metro pcs was gsm, if they are all you would have to do is unlock it using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542 and then would just need to get a metro sim card, they look to be about 20 on ebay

Nope. I don't think it will work.
Sprint is cdma and tmobile is gsm.

Sprint's Galaxy S4 has T-Mobile's HSPA+ GSM bands so technically it COULD work, only problem is the sim slot is locked to international providers only so until someone finds away to unlock it, no go.

Three major problems with this scheme:
1. Domestic GSM lock. Who known when or if this will ever be worked around.
2. Lack of LTE support for TMO (or AT&T) LTE.
3. Lack of support for AWS HSPA while TMO's HSPA 1900 deployment is still poor in many areas.

It's not ready, besides before it can be sent out to carrier branded models the carrier adds their bloat and approves the update. Ultimately making those who have carrier models wait longer
The Developer Edition obviously isn't branded so once it's ready the update will be released
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
Ultimately I think its good because it will get 4.3 dev ed out soon for the developers to use as a base for roms...
Won't help those of us that have Sprint devices as we'll have to wait for a Sprint version to come out but maybe the Verizon 4.2.2 can be used...

I always hear people say this. What does the carrier have to do with it? They don't change anything on the ROM except maybe some connection settings. All they have to do is make sure the new radio firmware still works on their network and approve it.
Or maybe things are done differently in the states. Here in Canada all HTC One's are like the Dev edition. I have never experienced this "carrier bloat"

Yeah US carriers do more extensive testing and stuff with these. I used to do device and update testing at a carrier and because US networks are crap and a hodgepodge of standards and what works in LA without many changes doesn't work as easily in NY without some network adjustments.
Then there is the carrier bloat issue that they want all their garbage on them and then that too has to be tested, etc...
No excuses as they take too long and load too much on devices, just explaining why it takes so long...
MG

I definitely believe that areas outside the US will get it first. The only thing I want from AT&T is the firmware. All the software is virtually the same minus the fact our carriers overload it with bloat.
Glad I went S-Off on my Developer Edition and flashed the 3.06 already.
To all those saying "testing" is the reason 4.2.2 is delayed... why is it available for branded phones then? I don't understand why bloated versions have 4.2.2 already while the Developer Edition doesnt? They are essentially the same phone. If "testing" is the reason, why flashing 3.06 to my Developer Edition hasn't given me any problems?

Exactly... base Android 4.2.2 was a fix to a bad release. Its fairly common that although 4.2 brought some of the coolest new features it was buggy as hell and had some deeply ingrained issues. 4.2.1 & 4.2.2 were both bug fixes , with neither fixing the root issues.
I prefer they move to 4.3. For being a new release it is very very solid and a worthy stable release to launch KLP from. Similar to the 2.3.5-7 to 4.0 jump.

Yes. Here in the states these carriers are crazy. Especially Verizon. They're the top US carrier. They add like useless apps to your phone.
The issue is carriers want to make sure that the phone complies with what they want on their network. Their wants are pretty trivial. They're just expressing their power.

Verizon and AT&T phones have been nearly identical in recent years. Both are usually more locked down than T-Mobile (for example). Starting with the S7 and S7edge and now with the Note 7, almost all firmware can be universally flashed. Verizon is the best platform as they are already Sim-unlocked.

It will. The system file is what you keep from the Sprint rom.. The nice thing is that the rom is a pre-carrier release so basically before Sprint got their hands on it to add their own bloatware.
You essentially perform the Sprint root guide but right before rooting via adb, you flash the CP, BL, and CSC from the Verizon firmware.
