According to some tipster and according to article on android authority dot com.
Samsung will roll out lolopop in jan 2015.
What is your opinion on this? True or they playing games with us.
The leak they are sourcing is a redditor who works at a Samsung Experience Store. He doesn't even work directly for Samsung, but a third party called Mosaic Sales Solutions that Best Buy or Samsung hires to run these stores. Here's the post. He posted a SS of an email with no concrete info and it didn't even come from Samsung directly. i don't doubt the authenticity of this info, but I do doubt it's accuracy. He's the low man on the totem pole, any info that's trickled down to him isn't likely to be accurate and it surely isn't going to be solid. It's like calling up VZW and speaking to a CSR and asking them when Lollipop is out.
Really don't care that much. A stable os is all important.
My money is on the Verizon n4 getting it in February.
It'll take Verizon a couple months to add bloat and butcher it up. Not much has changed aside from a few visual layouts inside samsung apps.
Take it or leave it imo
Isn't lollipop, unpatched, what will allow the exploits for root for us retail n4?
Trolling xda with my Note 4 in full on beast mode!
hey let's hope at least I would agree with the other guy but I would say February is the last date for VZW to give us the update.
I think somewhere in January but it's just what I think lol:good:

Not much change? It's supposed to be the most drastic change ever... Hmm I guess we'll see
Lollipop would be very welcome but we'll have to see how much Verizon messes with it. I'm expecting them to butcher it and delay it at least a few months.
Please be careful when reading any rumors or articles and check the wording..if there is no mention of US carriers, then it is for the unbranded International version...which ALWAYS gets updates months before the US Carriers.

That's a little too generous. I'm guessing June.
I read in a PA forum (don't have the link but I'll look for it in a minute) that stated that Samsung was weighing down on carriers like Verizon and at&t to release the android update as soon as possible. I think that they are finally realizing that they lose customers when the software updates don't come out quickly

Actually, it doesn't. The exact email says they need to prepare and that Lollipop will "begin" rolling out to Samsung devices (meaning unbranded) in January. Best Buy received the same letter and confirmed it was for unbranded devices. This means the US carriers will make their requests to Samsung as to what bloat needs to be added, locked bootloaders, security... What have you. Then the back and forth testing/modifying occurs. Then the carrier decides when is the best time to release this OTA and requests time on Google servers. This is always how this works. When most international phones have received the update you can start checking the Android news for when US carriers will start.

agreed!
I got a DE N4 Phone and ive always been hungry for the newest. However since getting this and being rooted and customize the way I like if a lollipop rom comes I like I might move but in all honesty for the first time its great to hear about the news but im just not phased like I usually am.
First of all, we all know Verizon is a crap company when it comes to updates, specially big ones! With that said, it will get delayed with BS reasons, and not come out till around the time s6 is out.
I don't know when we'll get it, but I'm dying for it after reading this: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/analysis-of-the-galaxy-note-3-android-5-0-leak/
Just my personal thoughts but other than a desire to see an improvement in speed with the recent apps button, there is nothing in Android 5.0 that will significantly alter how I use my Note 4, nor anything that will substantially enhance my enjoyment of it.
Note 4
Any news for marshmallow update on note 4 duos n9100? Cheap Samsung phones are getting the marshmallow update .
It seems Samsung has forgotten note 4 duos users . Any possibility that volte would be added to the phone.
Yeap , still waiting but nothing ...

Chinese version note4 n9100 has update to android 6.01 now! but lots of limitation of its local softwares! no google support! does anyone have the n9100 android 6 root solution?
^ for hong kong version n9100 marshmallow is still not available . Even cheap $150 samsung devices like j7 gen1 got marshmallow earlier than Note 4 Duos , shame on samsung . Not only j7 got marshmallow update , it even has volte which samsung has not been able to introduce on Note 4 Duos (it did on note 3) . Samsung should rot in hell good thing that the note 7 has been recalled
what limitations are you referring to ? You can try the old root method it should work
Shame on samsung

Hello everyone
Let's start directly this thread
I own an S5 g900f and as it is known that Samsung has stopped updating our software anymore and we are stuck on marshmallow
Only yesterday Samsung had officially updated our phone's brother ,the Neo version g903w, to nougat (which is its last update)
The thing is, since our s5 and the the s5 Neo are somehow brothers. Is it possible to port the nougat ROM from s5 neo to our regular kltexx phone?
Because the only difference between the two phones is just the processor Snapdragon vs Exynos
Or even use that ROM as base to port other nougat ROMs like the one of s8 and N8?
And thank you in advance.
good day everyone!..i receive an update 4 days ago on my samsung galaxy J5 (2015)..my phone is already updated in android marshmallow...it is 269mb...i tried to update it but when it installs (in recovery), it will stop to update and says 'error'..
anyone tried to update theirs especially the J500H variant and receive the same problem??..
the marshmallow installed in my j5 is thai version because there's no yet update here in the PH...
so many views but no reply...haaay
hopefully someone help me out
Samsung is now done developing the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+. The beta program ended over a week ago and it’s only a matter of time before this update is released to the public. We can now confirm along with our friends over at GalaxyClub that Samsung has started developing the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 (2017) as well as the Galaxy Tab S3.
Samsung is yet to confirm precisely when it’s going to release the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8. Even if it’s rolled out in the coming days, some users in select parts of the world may have to wait until the end of February to get this update.
The next wave of Oreo updates from Samsung
The company can now focus its attention on getting the update ready for some of its other devices. It’s already known that work on the Oreo update for the Galaxy Note 8 is already underway. We can now confirm that work is also underway to develop the update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3 (2017) and the Galaxy Tab S3.
It’s going to be a while, though, before Samsung rolls out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the aforementioned devices. While some Galaxy S6 owners have been hoping that their handsets will receive Oreo, we have not seen any evidence as yet that would suggest that it will get Oreo. We’ve already told you that it would be wise not to hold your breath for Oreo on the Galaxy S6.
We’ll update you about Samsung’s Android 8.0 Oreo update plans as and when new information comes in.
