Word is that CM6 has just hit its first stable release. Has this been incorporated into any of the eris froyo roms yet?
Give 'em at least a few hours if not a couple of days...
Most of the Froyo ROMs have been based on recent nightly builds anyway, so they're not too far behind.
I know that kaos is working on it.

LOL! Sorry, I didn't even click on the "Download" link, I just saw the heading over at Cyanogen. There is not a stable build yet... because, if there were, that's where it would be posted.
There's only a handful of "stable" versions out now, from what I've read.
Everyone here in the Eris thread is going to need to calm down until a stable build it released for the Hero CDMA. It shouldn't be long...

I've been following all of the Froyo ROM threads and I've read great things.
Personally, I'm waiting for Sense/Tainted versions of Froyo to pop up before I make the jump.

He's so proud, as he should be. I've tried all the ROMs... Tazz's has THE BEST battery life for my phone. Plus, he's active in the thread and answers questions pretty quickly and constantly tries to improve his ROM. That's all I'm looking for.
Super happy running Tazz2.0 themed... bishes!
Just went to look at the dev section. Come on... Really?

FYI about "all" the roms... in terms of FROYO roms, they are virtually ALL THE SAME -- CM6. The rest of them are actually just rebranded CM6.
Thanks for the sweet input. I'm sure the community will decide to stop working on all of their different ROMs, themes, and whatnot to suit your belief.
It's not that bad - there were times when you could choose from really different ROMs, but then Cyanogen started to support G1 with his CyanogenMod and these days there's only few the bravest who try to build their ROM from AOSP, not from CM source.
So it's like CM AND themed/renamed/scripted MC.

In terms of trying them all to find a preferred one? I guess it's up to the person and how much time they have.

Do you seriously think there are a lot of ROMs?
Maybe over time, not updated ones. You have no idea how sweet it was when Donut was still the big player.

Heh, it's like when I first got my G1 and watching the android store: "Oh! There's another one!".
I've been around since the beginning and you are right about how "sweet" and exciting it was when the updates came fast and furious. I guess I've been spoiled by that experience, and now it seems to me there are two pages of same ol' different bonnet.
To be clear, not saying this is a bad thing.
yeah, feel ya buddy, i got my g1 less than a week ago, and i felt exactly like you when i wanted to chose a ROM to flash.
I flashed CM6 just to try it out, then switched to biffmod 2.sth, which is like a shaved CM. biff runs a lot faster than CM for me, but i need some ROM that will let at leaste SOME ram free, and that wont kill my battery in just a few hours.. i guess ill have to go for eclair or donut,, i just didnt want to miss froyo updates..
so if you do find some good ROM, let me know

Chromium 4.5. It's in the first two pages, I'm on an iPad now so posting links is like pulling teeth, sorry. I've been on Super F now for 24+ hours and it's pretty good too.
Anyone able to recommend a donut or eclair that is still being maintained I would be much obliged.
aaaah I think its called "Chromatic", not "Chromium", thats why I couldnt find it.. lol
ill give it a try, but anyways, Im still looking for a very light 2.1 to see if I can get more battery life and RAM
I've had my N1 for 2 years now and it's time to move on.
I rooted and plagued it with custom roms, however, since my wife is not tech savvy and want to install a stable, easy rom to use.
Should I revert back to total stock or CM7.1 stable?
Suggestions?
There are quite a few rock stable ROMs out now, its going to be a matter of what you think she'll enjoy.
Stock ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312540 )
SuperOSR ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195656 )
OxygeN1mod ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1214543 )
CM7 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297542 )
"Stock" MIUI ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117708 )
OMN1GB ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1336059 )
Hope that helps man
Its pretty big of you to give your N1 to your wife, I told my wife when I retire mine, its going in a safe place in the closet LOL.
that's great man, thanks!
probably i'll go with stock....
Yeah after 2 years of custom ROMs I've returned to stock and I'm actually quite happy with it, nice and stable and I don't actually miss any of the root features (yet)
Cheers

I second MIUI as the ROM of choice for Nexus. This is the most functional ROM for Nexus as it comes, without sacrificing speed. Stock lacks way too many useful things, starting with a decent dialer.
CM7
For me CM7 would be the best choice, then stock!
Let me make it easy on you...
Put it back to stock.
Then when she messes it up or something doesn't work she can't blame your modding.
Save yourself the agony.

and also I just flash it like I normally do with CM7? ie. just reboot into recovery, wipe, flash. and would I also have to flash the gapps like I do with CM7?
Or you could install stock ICS. Looks like it'll be fairly stable and feature-complete in a week or so!

If you like stock then why flash a custom ROM? If you don't like the added functionality that custom ROMs bring then there's no point using them. Use stock rooted and be happy, but don't ask (or, by the tone of your post, demand) devs to create ROMs for you which no one else will use.

That's what all custom ROMs are for the N4, since it runs pure Android. I honestly don't understand what you're trying to say.

Because aosp based rom are full of bugs, issues, force close and unstable ? making my n4 lagging without reason where stock doesn't have ?
But I somehow want an enhanced stock rom I don't know why.
Well maybe I could miss pie control which is the only thing that is useful in a n4 custom rom.

Dunno what you're taking about but I've experienced no lag on my N4 with stock or custom ROMs. I haven't come across a ROM which has any serious bugs or stability issues on the N4. Also, PIE is the only useful feature in your opinion. There are so many other useful features available IMO.

Hi at all, i must install a very light rom for my mother, but i don't use this phone from 1 year.

There is no best ROM in the same way there's no best colour. Try a few out (at least one each of GB, ICS and JB) and see which one suits you best.

the problem is that i can't do it, i must try that one that the most of people conder the best beacause the phone it's not for me,but for my mother.
So i think that there is some more popular with ICS/JB/GB right?
NexusHD2 is a popular Gingerbread, ICS and Jellybean, that is if you want the "popular" one. And since the phone is for your mother, I don't think she's going to tell them apart or even care about the differences they have, because they are minor.
Just pick any ROM and I'm quite sure she'll be happy with it.
