I am trying to update the system on my ultratablet from 2.0 to 2.0.302. when I press the download button a popup comes up that says "a download is already running" however I see no evidence of this. I have tried rebooting. Nothing seems to stop this. How do I update?
hit the button and walk away for awhile. Get engrossed in something else. remember your tablet like 10- 15 minutes later.

i apologize if this has been posted before but i can't seem to find any information on it.
I just recently updated to 5.0.6. (yes i know 7.1. is out but iwant to wait for a black bar mod before i update)
And i started having some really assy issues with the market. all this is on wi-fi as well.
First off, is that it takes a long ass time to load. 20+ seconds where under wi-fi it normally takes maybe 2-3. Then sometimes it randomly reloads for no reason.
when i try to search for things it sometimes takes up to a minute to search
And when i go into downloads, it dosn't load or show anything. the one time it did it showed me as having all my apps, but not downloaded.
However, when i go to install something, it allows me to see my downloads but then it gets stuck on installing even though the statusbar shows it as being installed completely.
Anyone have any ideas of how to fix this? I already tried uninstalling the updates and cache. no change at all.
*EDIT* just updated to CM 5.0.7.1 and the same thing. any ideas?
I have a US streak, un-modified, still locked and un-rooted.
Os 1.6, build 6601.
I was dragging an icon from my top-list to my home screen (screen # 5) when it happened.
My Streak appears to be caught in a repeating loop. The error code that is reoccurring is stating "the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly, please try again."
This error message pops up 10 seconds after I close it, every time. It only happens when I am on my home screen (so far), and it is crippling my phone. : /
I am unable to move through my home screens, click on any icons, or use any features at all when the home screens are visible. If I quickly select an application from the top-list before the message pops up, I am able to use that application, but only after closing the error message that faithfully pops up every 10 seconds after closing the previous one.
This has been occuring since around midnight yesterday, and doesn't look to stop on it's own anytime soon.
I managed to uninstall the application that I was creating a shortcut to when this nightmare began, in hopes of it ending this (to no prevail). Also I would like to uninstall the pre-installed dell rss feed reader, since there were two of those widgets on the screen I was creating the shortcut on. But I don't seem to have the ability to do so.
I'm in desperate need of help, and any and all suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
Awaiting your responses,
Thanks,
Steven
Update - After a reboot (probably the fifth one) I'm unable to advance past the Dell Logo during the boot process and into the OS at all.
Removing the battery and rebooting again gave the same results.
Removing the battery and holding down the power button for 10 seconds before powering back up allowed me access back into the OS, but the repeating error remains.
Again, Awaiting any responses,
Thanks,
Steven
After an hour or so of reading, learning what the .acore process manages, and comparing other peoples problems to that of my own. I attempted countless times to "race against the error" as it were, and quickly remove the particular home screen I was on when this whole fiasco started, only to realize that my efforts are in vain.
No matter how fast I held the home button, or pushed the carrier button to bring up the home screen management window, the error pops up before I can click the little X and confirm removal of the screen. I've also tried other suggestions, including those that involved my contacts and their syncing to my G account.
I've decided to do a factory reset, the tedious process of reinstalling applications and re organizing home screens / widgets, syncing bookmarks, etc... wouldn't even of taken as long as I've spent tinkering with it all ready. Although, I'm all the wiser for it now.
Regardless, I would still be interested in any suggestions anyone might of had for this particular problem. Maybe someone else will benefit from them, whereas I was too impatient to.
Thanks again,
Steven
Granted I'm fairly new to android I've never heard of an issue like this, I would've recommended to boot into safe mode to see if some process starting at boot was causing this.
Also I'd recommend titanium backup just so next time you do have to factory reset you have a backup of everything.
Sucks that happened

I updated my new A7 with the Dexter 1.3 Mod (no additional patches). The update went fairly smoothly, but the tablet went into a loop and kept showing the ELocity Boot Up Screen for about five minutes. I was afraid that I had "bricked" it, but I eventually I tired of seeing it loop over and over again and started pressing the recessed reset on the back of the device. Fortunately, it booted perfectly and has been running very well for several days. Bluetooth is unavailable, but that is inconsequential to me.
One problem was that when attempting to read gmail or Google Docs the screen would not let you page. I discovered that if your turned the device from horizontal to vertical it paged without a problem. If you then turn the tablet back to horizontal it will still page perfectly. The problem seems to be with the Rom Update Software recognizing the orientation of the device (horizontal or vertical) when you first reach Gmail. I believe there is a physical device inside the tablet that notifies the software once the tablet has been flipped.
This is not a big deal. The Dexter Mod is excellent. I just thought people might be interested in knowing that they can get gmail and Google Docs to work perfectly once they change the orientation of the device.
Maybe someone can pass this along to Dexter.
Thank you.
There is a Bluetooth Fix that will resolve the issue. Put it on the sd using the exact same process as you did with Dex Mod v1.3, however do not do a wipe beforehand. What this will do is update the v1.3 rom with only the additional bt fix. It resolves the issue nicely.
As for Google Docs, I haven't tried it yet, but could it be that it is not optimized for a tablet? Might also want to check for an update on the market, just to make sure.
Link to BT Fix is right under the v1.3 download link on this post:

Thank you. I did see the Bluetooth fix, but I saw some later posts that said the patches caused additional freezing of the UI.
Additionally, I was not clear about how to apply the patch. Should it be after I do the initial Dexter 1.3 update? Also, it does not appear possible to get into recovery mode anymore on my tablet. Holding the power button for 2 seconds, then 5 seconds does nothing.
I assume that attempting to run the update from a running A7 would result in disaster? Or am I wrong.
I would be grateful for any assistance that you might be able to provide.
Thanks again.

That's strange that recovery won't boot......I believe you can just perform an update from within the settings screen. Just remember to change the name of the bluetooth fix to update.zip.
Just in case: are you shutting the tablet down all the way?
Then just press the power button until the light on the power button turns on then immediately press the power button and hold until you see the booting into recovery message. When you see that message let go of the power button.

Thanks to all of you who answered my post. I solved the problem, but not in the way I expected.
I always managed to get the device into the proper mode to update it, but I never got the menu that I did when I originally updated the device with the latest Stream TV (Elocity Now) firmware update. When I did the update from Elocity I got a full GUI interface to the update.
After the Dexter Mod I only got to an update script by hitting the back (hardware button) and then the home button). Eventually, with some trepidation, I realized that I could install the Dexter Patch in that fashion. Maybe that is the way it is supposed to work. However, I did not realize it at first and I had a great fear of bricking a new $350.00 device.
It is my first tablet device.
With the Dexter Mod it is really a good device. Everything (including Bluetooth) is now working properly.
I bought this device to teach myself how to develop database Apps with SQLite and that remains my intention.
Thanks to all those that replied to my email.
After reading all the threads I could find I decided to give it a go figuring the worst that could happen was that I would need to return the tablet.
Here is what happened.
I to got the looping elocity boot screen but was unable to correct it by use of the hard reset button. So I decided to take another tact. I held the power button down forever until it turned off. I removed the SD card. I then got into the reboot screen again and erased all user data and cleared the cache. I then rebooted and it worked.
I may not have needed to clear the cache but what the heck. Anyway it appears that there may be some conflict when the card with the update is left in the tablet for the initial reboot.
One thing that I did due before installing the update was to buy a new SD card. I realize I could of formated an existing card but hey for $10 it was just easier.
I also made sure that after I downloaded the mod that I renamed it Update though I couldn't find anything on the elocity site that specifically indicated the need for a capital "U".
Hope this helps someone.
Hey guys, I have had my Note 4 for about 3 years now and it has never done me wrong. However, things have taken a turn for the worse... I started noticing a few days ago that it was slowing down on me, I mean, really slowing down. Big lag times when it comes to swiping to open the screen, or changing between apps, and the occasional self-shut down when the battery got down to about 15-20%. I had been putting off doing a self-update for a while, and when I finally had time to do one tonight, in hopes of cleaning it up, it is now lying on its death bed
I do not think the update ever finished (my phone is not rooted) but I was desperate enough to even do a factory reset and that has not fixed the issue.
Here are the symptoms:
As I go to boot the phone, I get past the Samsung Note logo and it looks like it is about to load properly, but then I get a popup that says "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped" I hit ok and it keeps popping up again. I can't bypass it.. Then after I get passed that for a split second, another popup comes up that says "unfortunately system UI has stopped" It prevents me from getting to the home screen, in fact the screen behind it is black.
I have tried the following:
Clearing the cache partition from the recovery screen
I have done numerous hard restarts
I have gone through with a factory restart
That is where I have left off, and lost most hope, was with the factory restart. Now when I turn it on, I get past the logos and I can see in the background the page you would get as if it was a brand new phone (it says "Welcome! Preparing you device for first time use.." etc. But I can't do anything about it because I am still getting the same two popups that prevent me from doing absolutely everything!!!)
I have read about this happening and people seem to be able to fix this by accessing certain app setting and either resetting them, or clearing their cache. However, that is not an option for me because I can't get that far. I think something must have went wrong during the update...
Please help with any advice you can think of. I have been putting off rooting this phone pretty much because I was afraid of royally f****** it up, but at this point I am willing to try anything.
Thanks,
Eric
Hey guys, does anyone have any suggestions for my issue?? I am about to go out and buy a new phone, I have no idea what I can do to fix this. I have rooted it using Odin, but the popups are still occurring. I can't get the popups to stop, and they are preventing me from doing absolutely everything.
Is there anyway I can get it to go back to complete scratch? Again, I have done a factory reset, cleared the cache, rooted using Odin. I have done everything I can think of/what I have read I can do. I am willing to try anything at this point.
UPDATE: At this point my phone is on, and the only error message/popup I am getting is "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped." Behind that popup is a blank, black screen. The only option I have is to click ok, and the screen remains black.
Temporary solution that might work- Try logging in safe mode: Switch off the phone. Power it on and as soon as Samsung logo appears, release the power button and press and hold the volume down button. Release button when you see Safe Mode on the lower left corner of the screen. Try uninstalling all user apps in safe mode. To get back to the normal mode you can drag down from notification and disable safe mode.
You could also download the latest software for your model from samfirm and flash it via odin after factory reset. Could be a permanent solution.
why you just flash last frimware from sammobile,it will solve all your problems
SOLVED!!!
Alright guys, I was able to solve my problem, all thanks to this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/general/stock-tar-odin-flashable-t3250864
I had already tried flashing a fresh stock rom, but to no prevail. I saw this thread and thought, hey why not give it a shot, and bingo! After downloading the .tar file for marshmellow and launching it through odin, she was good as new! So if anyone seems to have a problem with the system ui or the process phone.android popup, I suggest that thread.
hello,
my note 4 has been working pretty good up until maybe a week ago, and then it started to randomly turn off and sometimes it would re-boot. other times pushing the home button it wouldnt awake, even thou the blue led lights was flashing like i had a message or notification, pushing any button would not awaken it, pushing and holding the power button would not turn it off, prompting me to pull the battery out. put the battery back in, push and hold the power button had no effect, having to volume down, home button, and push power button, and then volume down when prompted would boot the phone.
many times the phone would freeze, and pop up window would say X app has stopped working do you want to shut it down?, play store, samsung ui, various apps.
so, i googled my symptons, several suggestions suggested remove google play updates and then reinstall and update everything, that was last night. it casually freezed more and then it seemed to sort of work better last night and this morning. and just a few minutes ago, i had a new pop up screen "Runtime Error bad argument#1 to 'abs' (number expected, got nil)" as google is one of my loyal and usually helpful friends i asked it, to my surprise i found basically zilch. putting "Runtime Error bad argument#1 to 'abs'" inside quotation marks was limiting results, it didnt look like other phone users had had similar troubles.
i did see this hit "http://geco.mines.edu/guide/Run-Time_Error_Messages.html" lightly scanning over it made me think i was not looking in the correct place. as the word "intel" was mentioned a few times.
i found another page "https://github.com/layeh/gopher-luar/issues/1" as the title is similar to my issue "bad argument #1 to <function name> (userdata expected, got string)"
those with far more of an understanding of android and code, please assist...
thank you

More and unusual pop ups
nothing?
seems my phone has signed me out of google play
and has unrooted itself
many times the "Samsung UI has stopped working" pops up
i was hoping those with much more knowledge would have offered some suggestions.
i will back up all my data (in several different ways)
root my phone (again)
do a system re-format
and then re-install my apps and crap
crossing my fingers that that is all it needs... cause frankly i have no idea what, how, or why it recently crapped out. i suspect it was one of my apps, as the phone was working very well for several years, and within the last few days its all freezes and hangs, and occasionally crashes and reboots..
This morning I woke to find my phone looking like this
