Hi everybody, i've recently purchased an Honor 7 PLK-L01 in UK. I'm really satisfied with it and i started to follow those threads on XDA, i'm new to this software by Huawei as i've always had Samsung's phones (i still have my S5) and obviously software updates are different as i've seen. My current firmware is C432B121 but here i found a lots of more updates and intermediates' type of as well and my phone doesn't show any further updates like 130-140-180 and so on. Phone is not rooted and it's brand new. I also knew that it's rolling out MM for us so that's why i did this question. Thanks to everyone could explain a bit. Cheers! :highfive:
there's a full thread about this, with links to all kind of released firmwares
i suggest you start with b130 and see if it automatically detects any further ota update.
when i got mine it was stuck on b120, but after manually updating it to b121 i never had to manually update it again
otherwise you just keep manually updating all the way up to b180. i suggest you don't update to b320 right away since it's officiality is still undergoing debate, it might be old BETA update, perhaps released by mistake. still waiting for official news
anyway, the drill's very easy, you'll find every kind of explanation in the plk-l01 roms' thread.
Hello everyone,
I purchased the Huawei P8 while in France and the carrier was Orange
I now live in the United States and my carrier is T-mobile
I would like to upgrade this device to Marshmallow but I'm not sure if I can or how.
Can someone please point me in the right direction? And I use a Mac..
EMUI 3.1
Model Number Huawei GRA-L09
Build Number GRA-L09C109B190
Android version 5.0.2
Custom version CUSTC109D250
The device is not rooted.
Thanks in advance.

Download firmware from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/huawei-p8-gra-l09-b321a-marshmallow-t3352572 , unzip "dload" folder to your sd card, in phone go to settings > update > local update, and it will automaticaly start upgrading.
Few thing you should know about Marshmallow:
- B321a is latest version for GRA-09 model
- Some users reports big battery drain, the others reports big gain in battery life (like me), so its about luck i quess
- Message led notification is not working (emails and everything else is working)
- system is noticable faster and has better UI
- in case of any trouble, downgrade process is pretty difficult for newbie, so you will need to study how to do that
Cheers
Hi,
You should first upgrade to the latest lollipop, that is B200 Full upgrade, then you go to the thread about marshmallow and follow instructions there.

i will just say that this can be fixed with use of light menager, aswell as setting different colours for notifications etc.

Have you found a solution for this? I checked the net and apparently this build number is for Orange Spain.
We have the same build number, GRA-L09 C109B190, and haven't found any solution on how we can get Marshmallow update unless we try to root our device.
Please keep me posted if you found anything. Thanks!

Afraid that I haven't found anything to assist me in upgrading the P8 to MM without rooting. :crying:
I recently stubbled across a Huawei german site, but so far they haven't provide much assistance...
German site: http://www.huawei-info.de/
I use google chrome to try to translate the German language .
Hope it helps
I'm still searching
Please let me know if you found a way how to update without rooting. I'm still searching as well and haven't really found any solutions. Tried to posts to different sites but haven't got any valuable reply. I'll keep you posted, mate. Cheers!
Hi, just want to share what Majaczos answer to my inquiry.
. It seems that you have branded software from your operator. First step - clean debranding:
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/huaw...a-l09-t3210658
Second step - install B370:
2.http://forum.xda-developers.com/huaw...w-6-0-t3417212
You're doing it at your own risk. Remember that B370 is still a beta, some bugs may occur.
Currently my build number is GRA-L09 C900B170
And updating my device OTA to B200 version after finishing step 1.
Hopefully, I'll get an update to Marshmallow OTA as well.
Enjoy tinkering your device

I just upgraded to 6.0 and it was simple,
All the files required were in the German site that I listed above.
Everything was done using the full update, b200 and b321a
I did it via local update and emui.
It took me approximately 1 hour after I figured everything out.
I did not have unbranded my phone.
So far all is working great. Not sure if I will get OTA after the upgrade but ohh well
I've been working at this non-stop for the past week, and I've finally found a way. I am not able to flash a European ROM on the Chinese Mate 9.
I came very close to bricking my device, so I'm currently making sure of the method. Here is what it looks like:
http://imgur.com/a/1ONOF
(I am long-pressing the home button to show it's fully google-ized, in both pictures, but I took my hand out of the picture for paranoia purposes)
So, how is it done? Through eRecovery. I will release the full method once I have tested it enough for public consumption, because I don't want people bricking their devices.
How does it work? It's... interesting.
The version showing up on the phone is the last Chinese firmware which was installed. It doesn't update to show what version it is. In the imgur picture, for instance, it says B109SP01, but it's actually B115 running on it. The phone still thinks it's a Chinese phone, so if you try to get an OTA, you'll probably be getting a Chinese OTA which will not work correctly. So in that sense, it's a bastardized version, and OTAs/updates will not work normally -- You'll have to flash them through a different method.
The positive side is, Google works. Completely. It comes installed out of the gate with account sync, and so on. Other than being Google-fied, some other differences include the permissions menu, the keyboard (SwiftKey is default), and a few other things here and there. The default theme looks strange, and I think it has to do with the cust partition not matching the actual model. This is something I'm currently looking into before release. I'm also looking into using version B122 (or newer if it becomes available) instead of 115.
I'm sure many of you want to get your hands on the European firmware and the method to install it. If you're interested in testing despite one-day-old pre-beta status, shoot me a PM, and I'll try to get you hooked up. In the future, because this method will require a lot of data transfer, I'm considering charging some money to people who download it, and setting up a proper server.
Anyway, for now, know that it's possible, and if you want to do it right away, get in touch with me and I'll try to help!
Update: I have now verified that it's possible to go back to the Chinese ROM. I should have something for those who contacted me wanting to test tomorrow. Since this is a LOT of work, priority will be given to those willing to make a donation.
Although I don't have a Chinese M9 I appreciate your efforts as this opens up the way to flashing other stock and maybe even custom ROM's. Well done!

Unfortunately, I think that custom ROMs will not work with this method, because they're not signed by Huawei.
Wow, That's great news.
I really appreciate your efforts.
I think that you can get a little bit of money in return for your efforts.
I would like to participate in this plan.
Please notify me when the procedure is completed.
Thanks again!
So, here's where we are at right now:
We can flash the system partition of a European firmware, no problem. There's seemingly no issue there.
Where we get the issue is when we look at the cust partition. Because we can't change the actual region of the phone from all/cn to hw/eu, for example, the cust partition has issues. What I mean by issues is, you don't get any of the default themes, various software might be missing features, and so on. Your phone's model number also appears to change from MHA-AL00 to M300-AL00 if you flash the non-Chinese cust partition. When this happens, things go crazy, and you cannot see a proper version number, build number, or model number.
I am looking into making a 'bastardized' version of something to flash, using a Chinese cust partition with an international system rom. Theoretically, this could fix the issues to an extent. It will, however, probably give you a warning upon boot-up that the system has been tampered with, and so on. I will have more information later tonight, Japan time, when I get a chance to work on it some more.
The programs which go missing on a flash of the European firmware are the following:
AutoInStallAPKFromMcc HPLegacyPlugin HwPhoneService PlayGames
Books HwCloudDrive_Local LatinImeGoogle PlusOne
ChromeHomePage HwID Newsstand PredefinedEapSim
GameBoxGlobal HwOUC OMACP talkback
Appmanager HwBetaClub Instagram_Stub Todoist
Booking HwHealthPlatform_OVE Installer Todoist_ntp
DisableTodoistReceiver HwLogUploadService NewsRepublic Twitter
Facebook_Stub HwOUCBeta ProjectMenuAct WPS
Along with all the included themes, and the auto-installer which mounts via USB when you plug the phone in.
Obviously, some of these files are more important than others. All of the things really vital to being able to use the phone can likely be loaded via a Chinese cust partition, but the versions are probably different from the european versions.
Update:
I've obtained a server and am currently setting things up to bring this to the public. The first stage will be a private test. I'm still willing to take some testers who are willing to put their phones in the line of fire! I don't think the private test will launch today, because a new International B126 ROM just came out, so I'm going to base my work off of that for now.
After all the kinks are worked out, I will develop some kind of system for the general public to use. Eventually, this system will be one where you configure your DNS to my server, log into a website, choose what firmware you want to flash, then use eRecovery and that firmware will flash to your phone. I will have to customize all of the international firmware to work perfectly on Chinese devices, and I've yet to do that, but will be working on it. If there's a need, I can expand this system to other Huawei phones. It's exciting times for Mate 9 owners.
Hi duraraa
I have just received my 128g mate 9 in France. I will be happy tomake a donation and participate to the test. Please let me know.

Sure, thank you for your interest. In the meantime, if you are currently on a version like B115 or higher, please downgrade to B106 / B109SP01 so you are familiar with the process.
Update: Now that we can install Google framework on the Chinese latest firmware, I have decided to cancel this project for now. I may keep a server alive to upload to unsupported/beta firmwares, but trying to get the European firmware working well on the Chinese Mate 9 is no longer a priority.
Which version of the firmware Duraraa ?

Just search for GMS in the HiApp store. Huawei released a google framework installer.
But the app twin functionality in Chinese handset only allows QQ and wechat. Please continue with finding out how we can install European Rom on Chinese handset so we can have twin app functionality for whatsapp.

Mate 9 from Taiwan
Hi everyone, keeping an eye on the market I found a very tempting offer on the 64GB version - HUAWEI Mate 9 64GB 4G Dual Sim SIM FREE/ UNLOCKED .
Now, my knowledge of ROM flashing is "level: what is a ROM?", but I am reading lots on the subject , but a couple of months ago I bought a P9 for my wife, chinese Al00 version, no problems to install Google Play but still many things are in chinese, the language correction for english or other EU languages sucks. That is why I decided not to go for Chinese versions unless there were exaustive guides on how to flash the mobile to an international or better european ROM.
Said all that, I wonder if anyone has found an easy way to solve the above mentioned issues - I assume everyone with a chinese version will have similar problems - and if you solved them otherwise.
Thanks for any information you might provide, and sorry if I missed key info to have this question properly addressed, but I will be happy to add it if asked.
Cheers,
Daniele
Hi all, I'm a US user with W09 and would like to get it to Nougat - I have read the entire "Update to EMUI 5.0" thread and there appeared to be several possible routes, but most were regarding the European version.
I have a US Wi-Fi model and have no allegiance in keeping it a US one, if there's a way to remove the regional aspect to gain access to the update (BETA or otherwise).
I would greatly appreciate if someone who has some experience with or is very confident of the correct path would shed some light for me.
Thank you!

I've just finished reading the entire thread linked above that mentions that method a number of times, so I'm certainly familiar with it, but haven't tried it because sprinkled throughout that thread are plenty of issues encountered. Also, there's no mention of US hardware/firmware specific instructions.
I'm on W09 as mentioned in the OP - thanks for the reply!

I'm away from my tablet at the moment but will do later on when I get home.
We will see after that what we can do. I have updated my tablet to Nougat, but I have BTV-DL09 (4G European version).
To change region I think you have to unlock bootloader.

What's the advantage to switching from US to EU roms? I unlocked, rooted, enabled 5ghz band for wifi, and now only need nougurt but much like the original poster not sure the best route.

The advantage of removing the US stock rom is that the European one has a beta available that is very stable. My thread is seeking someone who's confident of the steps to 1st going European & 2nd installing nougat once there, as there was some debate of complexity to doing even that.
I've been through exactly what you are wanting to do @dutchdoggs54 . Unfortunately I can't tell you step by step how I got to where I'm at.
I was on W09128BXXX out of the box . Read the topic that you have linked in your first post and decided to do it using firmware finder to force the update to Nougat as they described. It actually went very well and Nougat worked great with the exception of Bluetooth not working.
I have to say during the upgrade when it booted into recovery and it was TWRP I was concerned. Believe it had an error but it worked and replaced TWRP as I recall with a stock recovery.
So after all that I decided I wanted my tablet branded as a BTV-W09C100B006. Below is the topic where a member thought they bricked their tablet.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m3/how-to/bricked-m3-btv-w09-t3612699
They were given directions to download the Full update package for the version I just mentioned.
This member got their tablet working again and in the process found that 5Ghz wifi is enabled on C100B006 by default.
That was the main reason I rooted my tablet.
I followed the directions knowing I force install a different version of Nougat from your link.
Downloaded the full version software and dropped it in the dload folder on my US tablet and did the upgrade.
Tablet rebooted and shortly after it rebooted again going to recovery (I tried may times to boot). Don't recall the error but after I unlocked my bootloader again it reset the tablet and I was able to access it again. I did relock the bootloader so I can see updates without any problems after that.
In the end I got what I was after. My tablet shows as a BTV-W09C100B006 and can check for updates.
5Ghz wifi is enabled by default. As I said I relocked the bootloader so I'm not rooted. Overall it's works so well I'll wait for Nougat to get released and then do the official upgrade. After the scare of booting to recovery it was worth every nervous minute of it.
Try to talk to OP from this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/...-root-t3374068
Maybe he can make this app available to Mediapad M3, then changing OEMINFO will be easy.
I posted a question there.
No luck
Ok, so I tried following @Samavb's great instructions and guidance in the other thread last night. Made it all the way to the point where he says to install 009 from the Huawei website - got it downloaded and loaded up on the tablet only to find that it wouldn't install because the 009 file on the website is BTV-DL09 not the BTV-W09 version a US tablet would need.
So I got frustrated and tried installing the B301 build that appeared on firmware finder when I was on the W09-006 build...this was nougat and was cool but no keyboard and the play store wouldn't install anything, so I was forced to revert back to 006.
So, long story short, hours of work have confirmed that there doesn't appear to be a way to get a US tablet to fully functional Nougat at the moment. If there was a 009 or 010 build like Samavb mentions for the US model, maybe it would work, but those aren't anywhere to be found - firmware finder, russian site he mentions or otherwise.
So, I'll happily sit on 006 and wait for a US OTA update. That is unless anyone can tell me exactly how to make this US model into a European model.
Same boat as original poster. US w09 on build c128b003. Firmware finder just finds the same version. Anyone know when there might be a us version update released. I thought it was supposed to be may so have been waiting patiently.....but may is over.

In Firmware Finder select the menu in the top left corner. (3 bars)
Right below your model number, select change model and enter BTV-W09C100 and then search.
You should see B301 and it's a full OTA. However, as I understand it this is just a beta/test release.
Only issue I had with it, bluetooth didn't work. Seeing as how I don't use it, didn't bother me.
I highly recommend you fall back to the other topic about forcing the upgrade to Nougat.
Only difference from my tablet and yours. I was on C128B002. I had already rooted and couldn't get that update.
Also US 64gb version here and hoping for an update to Nougat and EM5. Would love to see it!
Huawei have been quite attentive for updates in other markets which is great. Too bad the non-LTE version in US doesn't get the same love.
Buying this tablet was a roll of the dice for me, banking on the hope that Huawei would be attentive to software updates (for all markets) and custom ROMs could serve as back up/enjoyment. This tablet has solid hardware and with another launcher it is decent.
Sadly, my experiment to try out a non-Nexus device without the latest (or close to pure) Android version is coming to an end. The last M3 sold on Swappa went for around $300.

from what i gather. if you're going from MM to Nougat, you need to install the Full OTA. for that, there are 2 files, you will need both of them. from there, i'm not sure.
Newb here. Live in the US, just got a Mediapad M3 with version BTV-DL09C433B001 ( EMUI 4.2.3 and Android 6 ). The sim from my iPad works great and I can make and receive calls. Everything seems to work ok.
Like anyone I want the latest Android and EMUI. Is it worth it? should I bother? I am an actual embedded developer, so this stuff isn't way out of my league, I just don't know exactly what to do for this device on this platform.
I found FF and it show a lot of images that I can apply. I guess C433 means spcseas region. I heard that C233 installs Chinese and that may be the latest but comes with limits like no Google. I have three questions:
1) can I install an image for a different region (Cxx) without breaking everything,
2) can I install a fullOTA image rather than tediously stepping up image by image, and
3) which region (Cxx) should I go with to continue to work in the US?
Thanks in advance if you bother to have answers

I have the same Model with the same question. Were you ever able to get updated to Nougat?
You may need to change your region oeminfo partition before flashing another regions firmware. If you dont certain things might or might not work properly.
Any help on my ME us edition BTV-DL09C433B001 would be much appreciated.
I also have the M3 Btv-dl09c433b001 version.
It appears this version is not getting any support from Hauwai. I am still on Android 6.
Does anyone have a way to update my version to 7.0?
I did try to download and install BTV-DL09C199B350 on to my M3 but it didn't work. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
I would read this thread on how I upgraded to 7.0.
