I cannot root my (Exynos) S7e, due to the fact that I need to use my Outlook Corporate Exchange account
Nevertheless, I would like to use Helium Backup, but since it rides on top of ADB, USB Debugging must be enabled.
Under Developers Options, the USB Debugging option is grayed and cannot be altered.
I did try to install and than unlock/unregister MYKNOX (as was suggested somewhere), but to no avail.
Is there a reliable/safe method without affecting the KNOX flag?
Thanks
It seems that a Mobile Device Managemnt Airwatch policy (installed on my phone) is responsible for blocking usb debugging. Did anyone manage to overcome that?
Thanks

I have a Samsung Galaxy 3 (i5801) which got in the hands of a kid and he failed at the pattern lock too many times so now its locked at the enter Google account information screen. And I can't seem to get past it as I don't know which account was used to activate this phone (a gift from someone, who had activated it but can't seem to remember his password)
Now before I do a hard reset, I really need to backup and save my SMS and contacts at least, to PC, so I can later restore them somehow. Can someone tell me my options? I don't have the Micro-usb cable yet, but I will get it today and start experimenting. But I was wondering if the /data/data/com.android..... folder is even accessible when connected with USB? I am hoping that I will be able to set USB debugging to on by calling on the phone and accessing the main menu from there.
I have both Win XP and Ubuntu, so any solution based on either platform will be appreciated.
Well, just flash g3mod kernel, and your phone will go to usb debugging mode on connecting to USB...
even better option you want to try is use the multiboot feature...so you can boot into another ROM, have your contacts and messages there...and then backup using any possible method
I accidently use Titanium to freeze the setting app. After that i plug in my cable and use "usb storage mode" to tranfer file. Therefore the "usb debugging" mode is off and the super user app can not work >> which mean Titanium can not work because it needs root rights from super user.
And the nightmare is here: I can not unfreeze the setting app because Titanium needs root rights. The only way to turn on root access is enable "usb debugging" mode >> which only can fullfill by setting app. LOL.(sorry, can't help myself laughing)
Any idea how i can escape this retarded loop situation without factory reset my phone ? (Sorry, english is not my native language.)
I have the following problem. My Nexus 4's touch is broken, it can show stuff though. I need to run an app (the battle.net authenticator, otherwise I can't log in) through access from my PC, but there are some problems. It is not rooted, its bootleader is locked and everything is stock. I do have USB debugging enabled though. Also I can't do adb commands because this is a new PC and I haven't authorised it (it shows up as unauthorised on adb devices).
After a long series of experiments and a lot of googling, I found a combination of 2 programs ([email protected] and Android Control) to do what I want, and do some stuff when on Recovery Mode to activate the adb thing through cmd (most of those in this site), but my PC can't seem to even see that a device is connected when I am in Recovery Mode. I have tried reinstalling the drivers a couple of times but nothing seems to work.
Does anyone have any ideas?

As far as connecting to the PC is concerned have you tried another PC or USB cable? And since that's a battle.net authenticator you can contact their support, either via web ticket or phone (if you live in the supported countries) and after they confirm it's really yours account, they'll remove the authenticator for you.

I can see the phone just fine everywhere else, just not in recovery, so no I didn't try that. And I have tried using their support but I was in a pretty special situation for some reason and they couldn't help, but I fixed my problem. I had saved my restoration code for my authenticator ages ago and I didn't remember. Thanks for trying to help out though
Hi, 2 weeks ago I was still able to transfer files through MTP.
Since I've tried again today, my PC detects it as MTP, but it's not showing up as a drive in "This PC"
Also, I've noticed, it doesn't come up with "Allow access to device data" option anymore - so this could be the reason?
I used TWRP and was able to see the SD card data (I have encryption so I can't see the device data)
Anyone else have this problem?
I've tried enabling/disabled USB debugging mode.
I've tried on a few PCs and MACs
Can't figure it out! Annoying!
still can't figure it out - Any idea why "Allow access to device data" doesn't pop up anymore? I have used another s7 edge on my PC and it comes up with the option and works fine. It has to be something with my device
Any apps removed/disabled?
OK, this is driving me nuts! The phone has been restored to stock (Android Version 8.0.0) and has nothing on it from the Play Store, just the stock Samsung apps - trying to get ADB to work without any joy, as want Fluid NG on it........
It did once offer the options (weird?), but I got the Allow USB Debugging popup with the RSA Key, but also the error 'Because an app is obscuring a permission request, Settings can't verify your response' error - Went to the 'Apps that can appear on top' section (assume this is the same as 'Draw over other apps?), and disabled everything in the list - still the same error!
Now the only options I get when connecting are:
Transfer Files
Transfer Images
MIDI Device
Charge this Phone
So far I've.......
Enabled Dev mode
Enabled USB debugging
Disabled Verify Apps via USB
Installed Samsung Drivers
Installed ADB Fastboot
Disabled all 'Draw over other apps' apps in the Apps list.
Tried another laptop
Tried another USB cable
It shouldn't be this difficult, I know!!
