Hello friends,
So I have bought Galaxy S7 edge from Craigslist few weeks ago and was using it for prepaid SIM till I found out last night that my phone was blocked due to someone reported this phone was stolen. Is there a way someone can guide me the process to let AT&T know that the phone was not stolen, unless original owner wanted to make money from the insurance or At&T, not sure. Thanks in advance for your help.
Wow. I stay off craigslist

It should work as long as it's not carrier locked and the bands are all the same. (Buy a Google Play Edition or a international variant if possible.)
Smack that thanks button If I helped!

If you don't want to spend the money get a att phone on contract ...
Phones cost money, especially off contract.
Plus a used s4 is going to cost 3 to 4 hundred dollars, more if they are carrier unlocked.

I would if I could got another year before i can upgrade
Hello everyone, its been a while since I've been on XDA.
Anyways, I recently purchased an unlocked Galaxy Note 4 (T-Mobile). I purchased it from a craigslist seller, and figured everything was okay after I put my SIM card in it and everything was working fine. After a few days of service with MetroPCS, it suddenly stopped working. I called Metro and they couldn't figure out the problem after 3 days. I then called T-Mobile since thats where the phone originally came from and they proceeded to tell me that the phone has been blacklisted due to nonpayment from the previous owner.
So I'm basically screwed now. I have a $600 phone that's nothing but a paperweight.
I've been in this community for years now but I have no idea what I'm about to do.
So basically my question is, if I root my phone and change my imei number to a valid one, would I be okay? Would I be able to register it under the network?
Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!
Illegal no one can help u with that sorry

This is the Android Wear watch section. You'll have a lot better luck in the Note 2 area.
Thank you brotha
What should I watch out for?
Any particular version or bootloader which is unrootable?
Im not in the US. Only getting this because it is cheap.
So can someone with knowledge on this answer me,
I would like to sim unlock it myself. And unlock all bands for all network frequency.. Including LTE.
A Samsung galaxy s6 I once had was stuck on H+ (umts/hspa) no option to put it on GSM or EDGE. And that got me uneasy because it's huge loss of battery with time.
Thank you
Use swappa.com (they at least verify that the phone isnt stolen or under contract). Prices vary but at least it is safer then Craigslist

I'm working on trading my S7 Edge for a Nexus 6P. The 6P owner uses T-Mobile, and my Edge is on an installment plan. Is there any way to carrier unlock the Edge without paying for a third party service?
Mine is paid off. I just called AT&T and they said there was no problem with unlocking my phone. So I went to their website filled out the appropriate stuff and got mine unlocked. https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/#/

If your phone is currently using AT&T service, you can try this to request an unlock:
