SM-G531F - Device doesn't boot after digitzer replacement - Galaxy Grand Prime Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have uncommon issue after replacing digitizer in my phone. When I connected new digitizer, the device doesn't boot up, when I connect previous, crashed one, everything works fine. I found out that the chip on ribbon has different symbol but seller said it's "original one from grand prime duos and it's compatible with grand prime".
Chip on original digitizer - BT541C
Chip on "compatible" digitizer - Synaptics S5000B-5
First, obvious thing is there are not compatible and the replacement is just a fake...but how this guy could sell a lot of that digitizers and nobody could notice any issue with it?
Should I somehow "setup" my phone with new digitizer or buy a new one, with excactly the same chip?

Try downloading the kernel source code and building it with that chip module, however I don't think that might work so yeah...

Yeah if the module on the digitizer is different it's not going to work, your salesman is lying to protect the sale. You need a digitizer that's set up with the same module as the original digitizer buddy

Urgent help with digitizer

I recently broke the screen of my Leo T8585 and replaced the LCD + Digitizer with an original Hong Kong part.
After disconecting the working shattered part the digitizer never worked again. Even the shattered one ceased to work completely (LCD is working fine but digitizer has no response). A second replacement part was ordered and the problem persists, ie, replacement part is not the problem. Also part number is correct.
Can anyone tell me if there is a specific precedure for this replacement? Could there be a hardware/software lock I need to open? Strip contacts have been checked and are fine.
thanks in advance
I have the same problem! Did you find any solution? I think there is a problem with replacement parts but i still have not been able to try with an original one..

[Q] After replacement of screen, no more multitouch only dual touch

Hi all,
I recently dropped my phone and broke my screen. I ordered a complete frame and lcd/digitizer from eBay and everything seemed to work.
Touchscreen didn't feel right and I stalled a few multitouch tester apps.
I noticed only 2 points were registered. Third didn't show anything. Contacting the seller with this he suggested cleaning the contact points and looking elsewhere for answers.
Does anyone have any idea whether this the screen or something else?
I cleaned everything, all contact points with alcohol and even bought a new battery, because some said that could have weird issues as well.
Thank you in advance.
/edit: this is the link to the screen I bought: http://www.ebay.nl/itm/331224787829?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
look at controller chip ( that one on digitizer flex) - if it's not glued with black epo around , then 99.9% you got cheap china clone digitizer ...
here is pics of copy and org digitizers :

The one I have looks te be an OEM version. I guess I have to open en different Nexus 4 and try to figure it out.
The smaller part looks to have a bigger IC on the picture. Mine has 2 connectors, but the smaller connector also has a smaller IC.
Thanks for your reply.

Digitizer broken?

It's looking like I've got a broken digitizer. This appeared in the last week or so, haven't had a ROM update/change since August but I'm doing a backup and factory reset just in case. How difficult is it to change the digitizer on these phones? I've been in a couple tablets and a phone but haven't messed with screens. Any advice/recommendations?
You didn't change digitizer by itself! Go to service. You can change only display module (touch+lcd togeter), if you has a spareone. Because if you try to change digitizer - you broke touchscren also and it cost more to you...

New LCD and new digitizer but still no touch!

I have a T-Mobile HD2. A few months ago, the digitizer got a little crack but touch was working fine, so I order a new digitizer and replaced it. No matter what I did, the touch wouldn't work with the new digitizer (I know about front buttons putting pressure on digitizer ribbon cable which sometimes results in touch not working).
I thought problem might be the LCD connection slot for digitizer, so I order a new LCD too. But even with new LCD and new digitizer still touch doesn't respond! What am I doing wrong?
This problem is still baffling me. Right now, I have 2 sets of digitizers and LCDs (old ones and new ones I purchased) and no matter what combination of them I use, digitizer is not responding.
I have to say the old digitizer used to work fine before I opened up this phone, it was just it had a little chip/crack in the edge so I wanted to replace it just to make it nicer. But now digitizer won't work at all!
Is there supposed to be an insulating layer between digitizer and LCD? What wrong did I do by opening up this phone? I was very careful. The only thing I am not putting back for now is the front keys and its flex cable. Other than that, all what I took apart before, I have put back!

Possibility of replacing digitizer.

Hello,
I have dropped my Jiayu and the front panel is broken, the touchscreen is not responding, but I don't see that the screen is damaged. I've plugged the mouse via OTG cable and I could use the phone in this way.
So my question is could I just replace the digitizer and the front panel, or do I need to replace the whole screen? (where front panel and digitizer is included of course)?
I don't even know if replacing the digitizer is possible due to the fact that it is glued to the screen.
display and digitizer are one part!
But there is a possibility to buy just digitizer.

I have successfully replaced displays on 3 S3 already, it's fairly easy,. Replacing the digitizer only might be possible if you have the right (semiprofessional) equipment, but I doubt you will succeed. Try it if you feel sure... I would not.

I was in the same situation with my Jiayu S3 two months ago, I bought the digitizer (I month wait until it arrived from china aliexpress ) and brought it to two local mobile repair shops...
Neither of them would change the digitizer...both said they could change the whole screen part only as the digitizer is very difficult to change and you need special machines to do it....now im waiting for the whole screen part to arrive...(another month )
So your best bet is to buy the whole screen and change it yourself or in a techie shop...or look for another phone if the 50$ price of the screen doesn't convince you...
Good luck
Will this work? My LCD is broken and the touch is not responding.
