Is there any way to replace camera's glass cover? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

I just noticed that my glass cover of my rear camera had been scratched, and that seriously makes photos' quality worse. Is there any way to replace the glass cover WITHOUT REMOVING THE BACK COVER?
Thanks for stopping by!

Nope the back has the be removed no way around that.

I don't have the s7 but from the pics, it looks like it is replaceable without removing the back cover. It should peel right off and the new one place right on. It looks nearly identical to my note 5s

Just curious, did you know how it happend? Looks like mine on the S7 edge cracked spontaneously.

Edit: Just saw you said scratched not cracked/broke.

[Q] Is the Nexus 4 camera lens cover made out of Gorilla Glass?

Or in other words, is the lens cover scratch resistant? I ask this because I had the unfortunate case of finding out the hard way - within just a couple of weeks of getting my S2 that the cover wasn't Gorilla Glass.
So if the N4's lens cover isn't Gorilla, then could someone recommend a scratch guard please? Or maybe a scratch guard for the entire back which also protects the camera lens?
This is just speculation because I doubt you could ever get the official answer, but I doubt it is gorilla glass. It is definitely not part of the back glass but an inset piece. Gorilla glass is usually used more for the strength rather than it's moderate scratch resistance so I doubt that they went to the trouble. It is also slightly lower than the surrounding surface which would naturally help prevent scratching. I don't know of any commercially available back protectors that would cover the lens, but if you are that concerned about it just get one of the generic screen protectors from walmart and a pair of scissors and make your own.
I've never damaged the lens to where it affected any of my phones and I've had a lot all the way to the g1.

Nexux 4 Camera LENS - NEED PART HELP
Sorry for digging up an older post but lets say hypothetically you broke your camera lens for the Nexus 4 (but everything else is ok) camera, back etc... any way i can find a new one? I've been looking and haven't been successful yet...
This is the only post I've seen that even talks about the fact that it appears to be a separate piece... it's not part of your back glass and it's "recessed" inside - nestled between the back and the camera itself... a little square piece...

Haven't found anyone selling just the lens cover, but you could buy the whole camera module for ~ $10. If you're looking for just the piece of glass between the camera and the back, then you'd have to buy the whole glass back unfortunately.. might be cheaper to just cut a bit of a clear screen protector and use it.

Does the Camera have a protective shield to remove ~ Solved. Yes it's Does.

Guys,
Quick question. Just received my S4 and took off the protective plastic on the back and front of the phone.
However, the camera lens looks like it may have one as well but it is hard to say for certain.
Has anyone had to remove anything from the lens?
Looking at the lens there is definitely something on there because I can clearly see an air gap and if you press on the lens you then see this protective layer sticking to the lens itself.
If you don't touch it you then can see half the lens with the transparent substance touching it whilst the other half is not.
I have not yet taken a photo as it's just gone on charge but it's my guess it's going to show this transparent cover over the shot.
Edited: Thank you to all who subscribed. Yes it does have a protective cover that requires removal.
There is a small protective plastic shield surrounding the lens, but not directly over it.

I know exactly what your talking about as I'm thinking the same lol , don't know if I should try and remove it or not
I removed it and a number of other people have also. Need to take the back off and get under the edge with your fingernail.
I suppose what we need to hear is if anyone has removed this cover and was it meant to be removed?
Edited: Thanks dacbeth. I'll get a scalpel to it when it's finished charging.
Why on earth it's not mentioned though is weird.....
It's not stuck down very well. Mine almost jumped off as soon as I lifted one edge with my fingernail.

That's what I would have assumed.... But as mine is definitely not wishing to move (so far tried with finger nail but no joy) I thought it best to come here and ask other owners.
I removed mine. There are also some near invisible covers around the edges of the phone too.

Yup. Mine came with a protective plastic -- wasn't covering the lens itself though. Its a rounded square with a hole in the middle where the lens is.

Thanks... Mine has no hole and covers all the lens.
I have removed it very easily with a pin
I didn't remove mine, Since the plastic is not covering the entire lens, I think this is to avoid lens to touch the table and be scratched.

Yeah, I don't think it's meant to be removed. I took some fantastic pictures with that plastic on, and then thought you were supposed to remove that and that pictures would look even better, but they look identical. Also it took a good 10 minutes to get off, scratching at the edges with my fingernail before I finally got underneath it. Wish I would've kept mine on!
You'll find that if you don't remove it, it will start to collect fuzz / gunk around the inner circle. So you'll end up having to remove it eventually anyway.
If Samsung intended it to be left on, then it is a bad design. Mine was linted beyond belief after putting it in an admittedly lint filled pocket.

that part was the trickiest to remove,
i forced it using my fingernails and i thought i scratched the device, good thing it didn't

Anyone using the phone without a case/cover?? Worried about the camera lens...

Anyone using the phone without a case/cover?? Worried about the camera lens getting scratched since the lens is flush with the battery cover and touches whatever surface you lay the phone down on.
Who is using the phone without any case or cover?
How long have you had it without a case/cover?
Has your camera lens gotten scratched?
Thanks in advance for any insight you might give!!
I have the SView wireless charging cover the camera is recessed about 1/16" from the battery cover.

I've had my GS4 caseless for a year now. The silver ring around the camera area seems to have taken all of the scratches. I can't find any scratches on the clear plastic that covers the camera module. To be fair, I'm pretty careful with my electronics. The worst I do is put my phone down on my wood desk. But it does seem that the ring around the camera module does a fairly good job of protecting it from scratches considering it's completely scratched up. I'm not sure if you'd even notice a problem in photos if the plastic cover got scratched since it's not part of the camera optics.

Seems that case wont help you in the scratchless issue, camera glass looks way to exposed.
I use a rude case and have adapted my own scratch shield. Its made of a plastic screen cover just trimmed to fit on the camera, have a look.

Sounds like a scratch on the lense would be much less intrusive than taping plastic in front of it...

I am using this case, and I have to say that it doesn't protect camera completely, because i purchased this on day 1, still i got 3-4 scratch marks on my camera glass, but it does protect rather than naked phone.

Somehow glitter got under my camera glass?

So i was looking at the camera lenses on my V20, and noticed that somehow, a piece of glitter got under my camera glass, right over the main camera lens. I have no idea how this could have happened. Has anyone else heard of this happening?

There's a protective film over the camera glass that can be removed.

If you remove that screen protector the glass could shatter from just a scratch.

Ive read about the camera glass weakness. I took my protector off of my last one before I had got my replacement. It was fine, I'm very careful with my phone though. I don't set it down hard, I put it in my pocket with nothing else. I have a flip case so I can set the phone down on it's face worry free as to not mess with the back and camera housing either.. Not saying one should take it off just for the sake of it without reason, but if the OP has glitter under it, it might be good reason to remove it..
The protector has cutouts for the lenses though, right? If so, then removing the protector won't do anything for me since the glitter is directly over one of the lenses.

That's really odd, but glitter can find it's way into many unusual places..
