So yesterday, i bought my secondhand galaxy s5 on my local store, the store didn't give me the box or any document about it. so i tried to figure out if this one isn't a fake one. the label behind the battery told me that this is a g900f variant, still being curious i check the imei on imei.info and it says that this is an original g900f (i also checked the phone build on the setting menu it also said this is a proper g900f), but long story short i found out that my phone is already rooted by the previous owner, so i tried to unroot it, but when i do it the phone stuck in the bootloop, so i downloaded odin, usb driver, and a new stock rom for the g900f on my laptop, i get the phone to the download mode (odin mode? i dunno what is it called) and it said my device is a g900v variant, and when i tried to flash the g900f stock rom i always failed. now i'm confused wheter if my s5 indeed is a real g900f or a g900v. what should i do now? do i have to download a g900v stock rom, or try another g900f stock rom?
Maybe you downloaded g900v rom so that is why this version is stated in Odin.

If i remember type in the dialer *#1234#.Check correct model and csc code and then you can download from Sammobile correct firmware.cheers
Check what it says at the top of the screen when the phone is in download mode, that is the only info you can 100% trust

Hello a friend of mine bought a SM-G900F phone in China. When I booted into download mode to download a new ROM, the screen displays "product name: SM-G900A". You can see screenshots on to the following address (I'm not authorized to insert links): goo.gl/photos/LVJXVdUwAiY6URkJA (open with https protocol)
In recovery mode, it displays:
Android system recovery <3e>
KOT49H.G900AUCU1ANCE
.../...
#MANUAL MODE #
-- Applaying Multi-CSC
Applied the CSC-code : CHN
successfully applied multi-CSC
I tried to flash the bootloader with TWRP and when I rebooted the phone in recovery mode, display the following message: "System software not authorized by AT&T has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest AT&T store for help".
I tried to flash the phone with ODIN and an official ROM, but every time I got the following error message:
<ID:0/003> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/003> FAIL! (Auth)
I tried in the end to flash the phone using an official ROM for ATT SG-900A. The operation is completed successfully with ODIN (no authorization failed) and the phone is again functional.
So how should I do to return to a ROM SG-900F?
i have exactly the same issue. the sticker at the back says "g900F" but i can only flash g900a firmwares! Please help!
AT&T supply phones with locked bootloaders.......you're not going to be able to flash anything except AT&T firmwares (according to what I've read here on XDA)

do G900A Phones also have the "G900F" Stickers on the back?

I have no idea.......but at the end of the day, a sticker is just a sticker........
Download CPU-Z from the playstore and run it.....it'll tell you with way more accuracy than a sticker exactly which model you have......
Sent from my rooted, debloated stocKK kn0x0 SM-G900F
Well, it says G900A in CPU Z. But it's strange, right? I mean, why would they put a G900F Sticker on a G900A Device? Does anyone have an idea how i can get rid of the AT&T Bootloader? Before i tried to flash Android 5.0, i had a non-AT&T Firmware on my Device. help!
The way I understand it is that the bootloader is a 'partition' on the devices memory. With AT&T, this partition is 'locked' or write protected.....In effect, it becomes 'read only'.......I don't *think* that anybody has found a way to overcome or get around this 'protection'.....
Now this is where my definitive answers stop......i've never owned a device with a locked bootloader so I just don't know......
.......but.......
From what I've read (if I understand correctly) irrespective of what software was on the device before, it's now running AT&T software with a locked bootloader.....this locked bootloader can't be overwritten, so I *think* from now on, the only software that will successfully flash on your device is AT&T software....... (please somebody step in and correct me if I'm wrong).....

Boot into download mode, if it says G900A in there, it's a G900A
If it was sold to you as a G900F you've been stung, end of story
Stickers and firmware model numbers can be changed, download mode can not
Bro it is fake sm-g900f it is g900a flash stock g900a rom thats youre hope :victory:

No need to be a douche.
You were sold a 900A stickered as a 900F obviously to decieve the buyer.
hey buddy.
i have the same problem.
it's a little different from yours.
i've just bought a samsung S5 G900f as the phone info says and the sticker as well.
my phone is running kitkat 4.4.2
and can't get any update via software update.
for the record, the phone shows the AT&T software update which means i need an AT&T SIM card to get an update.
i'm frm morocco and if its An AT&T version of s5 , that means it was unlocked.
when i go to bootloader it says G900A....
as well as the download mode says it's a G900A
i took my EMEI and put it in emei.info website they said it is a G900f.
i installed an app from play store called phone info.
it says that my phone has A G900A bootloader , A G900A baseband version , an AT&T finger print build , and an AT&T original CsC code and an AT&T firmware's CsC code and states that the Csc country is Usa and the hardware revision is G900A.00
but on the other hand it says that my build number is G900FZHU1AND1.
please, anyone here can help me out with this.

No it is not i9505 model you have sprint galaxy s4
you can find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-sprint/help
All things about your sph l720
then why in the settings it shows model number i9505 and which firmware should i flash should i flash i9505 firmware or l720 firmware no idea at all
You have a Frankenphone, which in this case is a Sprint phone modified to look like an I9505. The proof is in Download Mode. While these repair artists can modify the software simply by editing the build.prop file, they can't change the model number in Download Mode. Therefore, whatever model number is displayed in Download Mode is the model number of your phone. In this case, Sprint.
While some of the custom ROMs here may function on your device, stock ROMs, bootloaders, and modems need to be downloaded from the Sprint S4 forums.

Very happy for sharing with us & interesed persons your enhanced knowledge on i 9505 & sprint sg4 sph l720
Great man !
so u mean icannot flash it with stock lollipop for i9505 on my phone and is there any stock lollipop for my phone which can i flash and use it cuz im using it in my country gsm and wifi is not working so i thaught by model i download stock lollipop rom for i9505 i was going to flash thanks u helped
That's right. You cannot flash a stock I9505 ROM on your device because it's not an I9505. You've already been given directions in this thread on where to go for firmware for your device. Honestly, if it's not too late I'd go and get my money back for this device and buy one that hasn't been modified.
can u guide me for wifi and bluetooth fix also
Go to the Sprint S4 forums here on XDA and look for the fixes you need.
I recently bought a used Note 4.
Now when I started using it, I observed something strange on it.
First when i connected it to my laptop for some data transfer i saw a new drive letter popup with Verizon mentioned on it and it automatically installed Verizon's software on my laptop.
Secondly, when I reboot the phone in boot-loader mode to check if the phone is rooted or not, i get the Mobile Model to be SM-N910V whereas when i checked on the back of the phone (under the battery) it is mentioned as SM-N910F; even when i checked Mobile Status under Settings it also shows SM-N910F.
Now i installed Phone Info Samsung from Play Store and it is also saying the Phone Model is SM-N910F whereas in Device Type it is mentioned as trltevzw (i believe this is the model for Verizon based phones). - snapshot attached
Now I am quite confused if I have an international version of Note 4 or Verizon based version.
Also one more thing... Root Checker says my phone is rooted but when i install SUPERSU; i can't update the libraries since it needs TWRP or CWM recovery to update the library (which is not available as my recovery shows stock recovery).
Any help in this regards will be highly helpful.
Thanks!
I'd take your device back to the retailer and get a refund. As there is something fishy about it!

Dear thanks for your reply but sending it back to retailer is not possible.
So any technical help would be much appreciated. .
Thanks!
Ok just an update...
First i tried installing official ROM (5.0.1) for SM-N910F from SAMMOBILE using ODIN but that failed giving some error.
Next I tried installing Official ROM (5.0.1) for SM-N910V using ODIN and it passed successfully.
Now Phone Info and About Status details match - Phone Model is SM-N910V and Device Type is trltevzw
but while doing this I have lost root access (which was already sort of useless because recovery was stock one)
However now Phone model and Device type part matches up.
Now IMEI on the phone and Phone Info are not matching... Anyone has any info on how to work around that?

In the settings / about the phone the info is taken from the build.prop phone located in /system partition. So it tells you what firmware version you have in the phone but not necessarily what is the real phone model.
If your phone was not repaired (motherboard replaced) it would be easy - you should just follow what is written on the phone's label.
But currently you don't know what you really have inside - best is to ask service what they really put inside.
1. Verizon S5s are unlocked.
2. Odin mode always says the truth (photo 1).
3. How do you think which phone model I have (photo 2)?
i got it, it was g900v , when in odin mode it said g900v so i installed an odin update for g900f and odin rejected it , but when i installed using an update file for g900v i successfully updated to marshmallow and odin allowed it this time confirming its g900v ,and after update it said g900v in settings(Build.prop)
Same problem here g900f on g900v
Hello there.....I am quite having the same problem...did you manage to flash any custom rom meant for g900f not g900v
Please I have Samsung galaxy Note 4 that is running a custom rom. I want to return it to stock rom but I have problem identifying whether it is n910f or N910p. In the about phone section it is n910f but in download mode it says N910p. Also when I check for information using the imei check it says it is N910pzwespr. Can anyone help me find a way to ascertain the model number?
Look under your battery, it will have it on the sticker.
If download mode refers to the model as the 910p, it's a 910p.
Download mode isn't changed with the ROM.
